RE: MOVIES 2017posted in General Discussion
The way I worded the statement I made above was pretty inflammatory alexgreat - I apologize for that. I removed it. I personally don’t enjoy watching gays kiss or supporting it - so I will not be paying to see the movie. Everyone else has the right to feel and do what they want.

RE: MOVIES 2017posted in General Discussion
Well the link I clicked on to see it said “Alien series will have first gay kiss” or something like that - so I suppose I was pre-biased…

Mine was probably one of the books in the Time-life series published about WWII.

RE: How to descreetly magnetize your carriersposted in Customizations
Did you cut the wheels off of that TAC bomber? Have you tried to magnetize one with the wheels (If so, how did it work with the carrier)?
Hi Andy - Yes I took the wheels off so it would have better surface area on the carrier. I don’t think I tried to magnetize one with the wheels on.

How to descreetly magnetize your carriersposted in Customizations
Hey all - tired of your planes scattering every time you move a loaded carrier? Don’t want to ruin the look of your units? This is the best way to magnetize carriers discreetly for Axis and Allies - no one will ever suspect you did it until they see the planes stick! See the video at my new youtube channel here - and I hope you will subscribe!

RE: Twix House Rules - Can I get feedback?posted in House Rules
Its a long list but we use the same Defender retreat rules in our group.
Your AA rules look way overpowered. Statistically in WWII 1/10 planes were shot down by flak. In standard rules its 1/6 so its already too overpowered. Now AA can fire every round? I don’t think I’d buy planes anymore - they are too expensive to lose like that.

RE: Worst Rule Distortions and Misinterpretationsposted in House Rules
@Caesar:
I honestly wanted to add a very complex rule where certain units do better against others but it forces the attacker to actually assign attacks during combat. It will slow the game down but make it interesting. For example. Fighters do 4 against other fighters, 5 against bombers, 3 against tanks, 2 against infantry, and 1 against any naval unit.
Yeah I tried something like that once but the battle board ended up looking so complicated I was scared away from it.

RE: Worst Rule Distortions and Misinterpretationsposted in House Rules
Another bad rule distortion was Trannies defending on 1. You did not need any warships. Just buy a huge stack of Trannies, and all the 1s would sink any attacking sub, Battleships or Bombers.
The use of Trannies as fodder to protect the expensive Battleship was another distortion that is now luckily changed, to a more historical correct rule. To buy Trannies to protect a Battleship, really looked like children, women and VIPs sacrifice themselves to protect the Bodyguard. If that was not a distortion, then nothing is.
This did not work well in classic but it works fine after adding 2 hit capital ships, 6 IPC subs and 8 IPC DDs. This old thread explains it:

We’ve played with classic transports for years with no complaints. Why do so many balk at transports sinking a battleship but they are still fine with foot soldiers shooting down strategic bombers? Its all abstracted to a certain degree.

RE: Bonding AA pieces?posted in Customizations
Hot glue is more for fabric - I’m wanting something that will actually meld the two together - like model cement does with models. I ordered some JB Weld - will let you know the results.

Bonding AA pieces?posted in Customizations
Anybody know what kind of plastic is used for axis and allies pieces? (I’m trying to find a glue that will bond pieces to an acrylic base) Super glue and model glue don’t work that well.

RE: AXIS and ALLIES 1941 for beginnersposted in Axis & Allies 1941
I’m very new to the game axis and allies. Just bought it and want to play it. There is alot to the game and i have no friends that know nothing about this game, So i have no choice but to turn to the internet.
I was told this game is like risk on massive crack. So in risk you can attack anyone and negotiate secretly with people to win the game.
So can I for example, play as the Americans and attack the British, after a certain amount of time? and negotiate with the Germans?
How do you win? is it complete domination or do the allied or axis powers have to win together by taking axis land? Is their a choice to play global domination?
Thank you in advance.
Reading the rules will help you immensely!
