I’m just a little frustrated that I can now find obscure things like Italian panzerfaust troops and hungarian self propelled artillery when the basic staple units needed to run the game (mech and tac) continue to be sold out or priced at $2.50 each. :(

Tac Bombers and Mech units?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
When can we see more of these offered at reasonable prices? Everywhere I’ve looked they are either sold out or priced like gold.

Just spraypaint all your tigers German grey (you’ll likely need more than 5 anyway) and order some Japanese tanks from historicaboardgaming.com.

RE: Planes attacking more than 1 territory.posted in House Rules
It’s a bad idea because planes realistically need time to be serviced/reload/refuel between attacks. All attacks are considered to happen at the same time and one unit cannot be in two places at the same time. It would mess with the timeline of the game.

Two quick questions…posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
1. I just took out a British destroyer with my planes in SZ 6 that was blocking my German fleet. Can I now take my ships through SZ 6 and attack some other ships since the SZ is no longer hostile?
2. If a territory says “impassable” is it impassable to planes too or just ground units?

Yea, but then you end up with fleets with 4 battleships that are damn near impervious to damage.
If you attack it and lose, its back to full strength, and sets sail right for the stuff you just built.How about this for a house rule:
When fighting with multiple BBs, hits must always be applied first to
other units or to BBs with one hit. (no putting one hit on five different
BBs) -

I think you’re right - the closest I came with the fighter was a Zero, but the wing profile was still a little different.

But then you have more rules. I used a system for a while where damaged BBs were placed in a “drydock” area made on my reference cards and placed back out at an IC when you paid to fix them, but then there was a problem with then “teleporting” to the reference cards.
Jennifer - I like the marker idea.

@Cmdr:
I like keeping it in “port” (next to a VC or next to a NB or next to an IC - depending on what flavor of Axis and Allies you are playing) to repair it, or it stays unrepaired.
I used to like the “repair it in port” rule as more realistic, but then you have BBs floating around the board looking silly on their sides, able to coast bombard and fight at full strength. How unrealistic is that? Now I just think of the first hit as “bouncing off” the thick armor and not damaging the ship. That helps me justify turning it upright at the end of a battle. To me it’s a cleaner and simpler rule.

Yes you can dominate with air power but it will cost you in other areas.

RE: UK setup in Spring '42posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
Well I added Italy to my set so am using the Anniversary Edition '42 setup in which Japan goes first - but the Anniversary Edition setup still has the British units there by India. Guess I’ll just leave it alone.

UK setup in Spring '42posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
In the initial setup the UK has this:
Zone 35: 1 aircraft carrier (carrying 1 fighter), 1 cruiser, 1 transportThis is adjacent to India, and is basically a gift to Japan. Japan can and does regularly wipe this navy out in J1 in my games before the UK even gets a turn to move it. Does anyone do anything different with the setup here to give this navy a chance to survive?

@Cmdr:
(I like the trim as well, btw. I just made mine out of cherry and brass pins, stained it and gave it a piano finish.)
Oooooh - Pic please?

Scramblingposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
The rules say:
“Defending fighters and tactical bombers (strategic
bombers cannot scramble) located on islands that have
operative airbases can be scrambled to defend against attacks
in the sea zones surrounding those islands.”Does this include your allies fighters that are parked in your territory or only your own fighters?
