Is there a link yet or a way to get a PDF rule book for this game? I would like to read the rules before mortgaging my house to buy it…

We don’t use NA’s - sorry! Maybe you can adapt it to them somehow.

@dtodd3 Yes, although we haven’t played in a while since I’ve moved and have to build a new War Room.

The only two rules changes we are still using after several battles because useful and no disadvantages noticed yet are:

1. The BB needs 2 hits to be destroyed but IN A ROW - So if the defender decides to take a damage on a BB > The very next hit (if any) during the battle must be one this same BB. This to avoid the 2 or 3 BB “damage shield” of 2 or 3 hits at the start of the battle. Notice that this do no weaken the big advantage of each BB to bring +1 hit point to the battle.  And for example 2xBB + 2xDD will still bring 6 targets to be destroyed by the enemy instead of 4.

We play where every other hit HAS to kill or sink something. So say you get three hits on your navy. The first hit you can take free on your BB, but the second hit you have to sink the BB or a different smaller vessel, or lose a plane. Then the third hit you can take free on a different battleship, etc. Works good for us!

IMO a very sad and dumb direction to go - a franchise that has honored our veterans and our history for so long degenerates into a fantasy fad money grab…thumbs down!

Yeah I guess I should have stuck with the more generic term “troopship” - although the Lusitania was a liner that went down. All ships were vulnerable at certain places and times.

based on the pictures im quite sure the roundels are much larger than .75 inch

Also, the Azores were added because the game should have had them as a means for the axis to bomb the east coast, which incidentally was a German plan for the war latter.

The roundels are all the exact size of the game cardboard roundels - 3/4", except the capital roundels which I made bigger as a tribute to the original classic map.

OK I guess I just overreacted about it then - never mind…

And what exactly did I do to deserve this? I’ve been nothing but thankful and respectful to you for letting me adapt your map, IL - stuff like this is why I barely visit this site anymore. Isn’t your 1942 map pretty much an EXACT copy of an already published retail map, just made prettier?

This is supposed to be a thread about a map that I adapted. It is what it is - all faults included. Nobody is forced to visit here if they don’t like it.

With all these games on your map, did you see some weakness or bias which encite some play patterns over others. Does Atlantic is too small compared to Pacific, or PTO too large compared to ATO? Enough Convoys zones? Etc.

I haven’t heard any complaints. I think the Axis have more of a struggle - but that can be balanced more with the setup. If I made a new map I would make the Pacific bigger and make it harder for Japan to get to Moscow, but we have fun with it as it is, so I doubt it would be worth all the extra effort.

So, I canÂ’t see the images in the original post.  All I see are Photobucket meter images.  Apparently the download limit or bandwidth limit or something has been exceeded?  Or some other problem?  Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

IÂ’m curious as to what the Larry Harris quote is in one of the images.  Can someone share the quote?

Photobucket screwed us all by starting to charge about $40 a month to post pictures on 3rd party sites - a service that has been free for years. It’s a shame but I’m not paying for that.

Larry’s quote says something like “I must point out that I encourage the use and implementation of house rules”

It all looks pretty cool, Jonathan! Maybe consider making #5 (Secret Movement) apply to navy only as ships were really hard to locate and keep track of in WWII.
