Using a J1 DoW with the intent to take out India will indeed work.I pose it to you that this is what the designers had in mind anyway, as its the only way for Japan to truely have a shot at winning. The real game is what happens after India falls. Japan must take one more VC and hold it. The games ive played vs a J1 DoW have come down to an arms race for navies and airforces, usually resulting in a stalemate until someone gets too tired an screws up. India must fall, and this makes it a much more realistic game , as Britian didnt play much of a role in this theater anyway. BTW (subs, infantry and fighters are key to US/ANZAC defenses after Britian falls). All that said, it is important that the British and Chinese kill as many aircraft as possible before they die, Yunnan and Burma must be held onto if you want to delay the J3 fall of India until J4…allowing the other Allies a chance to build up another turn while Japan is out of position.

I use what Vareel calls the chain strategy: I move all ships build at San Francisco to Pearl to Queensland. All Bmrs can fly directly to queens from WUS and other planes stage in Hawaii. From Queens, I can threaten the DEI, and the Philippines. Planes on Queens can hit the Carolines SZ and land in New Guinea, they can hit the Java SZ and land in sum, especially if the British DD and CC blocked Sum. If my opponent leaves the caro open, I take it with just one tr(no other ships if they can counterattack). You should also try to capture Iwo from Hawaii because, if you control Iwo, Bombers in WUS can hit the Sea of Japan and land in Iwo, preventing them from having to stage in Hawaii or Caro. This also may surprise some, like the Japanese transport move from SZ6-1, invading Alaska and British Colombia.

Forget about karma. Do not bring it up. It is gone and wont be coming back.

These ‘Sock puppet accounts’ in the sence that i was referring too are accounts added in addition to your own, for the purpose of adding your opinion and making it seem like that opinion is shared by more than one person. IN this case at least two members here have 3-4 accounts and they will be removed in a few days.

They usually post the same thing and post the same type of message and often speak to each other in an attempt to make their point of view more reasonable. I have been aware of this for a number of months, but no action has been taken. That will change.

I think a few of them were created as a joke to make a mockery of another poster (e.g. Foxxy) and that is not the right thing to do. It can be funny, but ( or BUTT depending on how you spell it) it is distracting to some.

Obviously, I look like some bad person who takes this action, but our job is to point out these problems and get them resolved.

and as this is yet another example of what i am talking about, the thread is closed.

It is also closed because it’s another countless karma thread and that is gone. Please get over it.

Karma function was completely useless. It meant nothing.

“He thinks he knows what is good for everyone. And when that person is exposed where he is breaking his own rules he just covers it up with his moderator powers.”

Obsolete functions should be erased without provoking any controversy. Who knows, maybe the karma system was using for no reason memory from the server?

      @democratic:

If Japan are attacking sz26 in a big naval battle, could they send a bomber over Hawaii to SBR the airbase, and if they rolled over 3, would that stop the fighters scrambling into the sea zone.

I’m sure it would not, but worth an ask.

All combat moves and/or battles are considered to be simultaneous. The damage applied to the airbase would only affect it after all battles are resolved.

I think J1 brings US to the war too early. I reckon it could be the most effective move in terms of the IPCs you can make your enemies lose in one single turn, and you can easily make up for the 10 IPCs that you will loose for being neutral with the US, but in all the games I played (not a lot yet), US war machine gets rolling and ends up making the Japanese player pay.

J2 lets you position yourself better on the board, as long as you have a clear strategy of what you want to do (go all in for Calcutta, or spread out to get Sydney later on, whatever floats your boat). The problem sometimes is the lack of that clear strategy, I tended to get dispersed and pick a little bit from here, a little bit from there and then get burned.

J3 will make it very difficult for you, because the Allies can stack up forces in Calcutta. In my personal opinion it should be either J1 or J2, max.

I like the NOs. History flavour is great.

      One comment on France’s NOso
      @oztea:

5 IPCs - France controls all it’s original territories
5 IPCs - An axis power controls only 2 territories

These two are mutually exclusive. If you change the second to ‘An axis power controls less than 3 territories’, then France can qualify for 10 IPCs if they control all their territory.

yes, just a question about 4 here

      about winning:

1 Japan has to hold their VC until the end of the round…. so that means til the beginning of their next turn?

2 the allies have to capture and hold Japan island for 1 turn.  since all of the allies go AFTER japan, I am guessing it means they have to hold it until the END of the next japanese turn?  Or they have to hold it until the beginning of the turn of the country that took japan?
can I take japan as america, Japan retakes their island during their turn, then I retake it during my turn, does that count as a win?  what if I take it as ANZAC, japan retakes, then America retakes?

This relies on in enexperinced allied player.

It need 3 things to go right.

A-The ANZACs need to keep a bulk of their land forces in Quesland.
B-India needs to keep their navy off Inida for the first 4 turns.
C-The US carnt scrable their plans off Hawaii, if their are 5 Tacks in Hawaii, a land attack will almost certianally fail.

I spose the other thing that could make it fail is if the UK build a factory in Kwangdong would make that much harder to take, mabey impossible if they build a major in UK2, or move 3 of 4 fighters their

This plan relies on a enexperinced allies player who will not put thier navy on the line and looks at sneaky moves.

I think this plan we be like a J1 attack, works when first used but a good alied player will ruin it.

This is my second solution to the naval problems in P40.

      (8) Destroyers-In the real world where are escort unit. They become 1-2, but for each Battleship, Carrier or Transport casues 1 destoryer to attack on 2.

      (11) Crusiers-In the real war these where used to add punch to a fleet, where a battleship could not be givin. It it is not with a capital ship, it takes 2 hits. Cannot shore bombard after taking 1 hit, untill reparied.
They may also can be held back form a naval battle to shore bombard.

(18)-Same but can be held back from battles to shore bombard.

My current strategy is to take Austrailia and to take Pearl Harbor.  My first game as Japan and Ive yet to see if it will work.  The other game I played the Japanese guy tried to take India but got severly bogged down and was destroyed piece by piece in the DEI.

cruisers cant get too cheap, or powers that dont deserve them will get to buy them, like Germany, ANZAC, and Italy. Sure they can buy some, and use the unit, but its expensive now for a reason, so they dont buy a gazzilon.

Boat prices have to be high, because only wealthy powers deserve big fleets.

if you want to add something neat to destroyers add my Sonar/Radar tech to games

“In addition to Radar as normal, a power with this breakthrough is also granted Sonar, Destroyers now fire pre-emptively on the first round of combat at submarines when both attacking and defending.”

an important reason why i hinder the attacker, and give the defender a bonus is because of the underrepresented expansiveness of siberia. Russia is the largest country on the planet, and Siberia is some of the most rugged, underdeveloped hinterland on the planet. To assume you can just walk in and stomp out divison after division of entrenched russian soldiers, who know the land like the back of their hand is not fair.

Under my rule, you can still do it, go ahead, im not stoping you. But the russians there defend on a 3 because they know the attack is coming, and they are stretched across endless miles of forests and mountains taking pot shots at the japanese. While the japanese need to expend a huge ammount of millitary power to seek out said russians and eliminate them to gain control of these territories. Because of this their units attack power is reduced by 1. Infantry would not do well attacking into this wilderness alone.

My rule also prevents russia from ever attacking manchuria unless japan leaves it empty OR russia brings over some high power units

Also, my rule does not effect combat in china, japanese can fight russians in there as they please, if russia moves men in. because these are not origianly controlled territoreies of either power.

My rule has undergone slight textual modification, so here it is again:
House Rule 5 – Russo-Japanese Non Aggression Pact
The first time one power attacks the other in one of its originally controlled territories and until the attacker captures a territory it has attacked; all that powers defending units (in originally controlled territory) gain a bonus of +1 to their defense value this phase. The Attacker’s unit’s attack value is reduced by 1 during all combat against that power this turn in the opposing power’s originally controlled territories. (Infantry have no attack value when not supported by artillery) The first power to break the pact, may never utilize benifits from the pact in a latter game turn.
