    • RE: Transport Cost

Mabey their should be 2 transports.

1 costs 4, can travel 1 space (no port advantage) and can only take 1 or 2 infantry per round
The other costs about 8-10, can take 2inf+1 other unit, defends at 1 and could mabey shore bombard at 1 or something.

    • RE: Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps?

Its time we start arguing that the Channel Islands had a considerable ecomany, produce many 10s of infantry and acted independantly of the UK, so its clear they should not be streotyeped as part of th UK, and should be their own power; including their own income, units and combat.

Who cares, they will buy it anywhy. :-D

Besides, they can all get behind a fundrasier to make ‘Axis and Allies-Battle of Canada’ where they get to chose which battles they help the UK with. LOL :-D

    • RE: Victory Cites in Europe40

I don’t think Canada should make the list. I would like to see all VCs (other than capitals) an area of fighting that both teams can achieve.

In Pacific they all are. San Franscio is like a capital, and so is Tokyo. All other are areas of fighting that are either a challenge for a team to both hold or capture.

It would be rigged to win if Germany would be expected to capture Canada when the allies only need France or something. We need most of the VCs to be on the Russian front (Germany will be able to reach anything there), North Africa (that will be a great UK/Italy battle) or France.

That means there will be lots of fighting and a quicker game, rather than waiting for Germany to capture Canada

PS-I am sure LH said Cairo will be one, either here or on HGD.

    • Victory Cites in Europe40

Post here how many VCs there will be, how many you need to win (Global and Europe) and which ones they will be?

      Definite (7)

      Berlin
      Moscow
      Washington
      London
      Rome
      Paris
      Cairo (LH said so)

      Probable (3)

I think all these will be in the game.

      Stalingrad
      Leningrad
      Warsaw

      Possible (3)
Tripoli (or something else in North Africa)
      Something in Canada
Kyiv (or something mid-way between Russia and Germany)

      Unlikely (5)

      Something in Scandinavia
Something on the Atlantic cost of France
      Something in SA
      Something in the Middle East
      Something in South America

All of Canadas operations where just as a minor support to UK/US forces whereas India was the main part of the battle, rather than just a support.

Besides, how does it make the game better if the UK has to produce about 5-8 IPCs on the other side of the Atlantic.

And also the breaking point of the Axis. If Italy carnt get North Africa of the Middle East, or if Japan cannot get India, or if Germany cannot make an impact on allied shiping (espically UK conveys) in the Atlantic, they carnt win.

Believe me, if the Axis can get on top of the UK, they are well on the way of winning.

Mabey better research (5 and 6). Or special subs (when 2 subs are in a convey, they disrupt 5IPCs) or mabey somthing that lets subs do something in the middle of the Atlantic.

    • RE: Power Groupings - Global Game

You need to sort if evenly spilt the roles. You can’t have one Person US/RUS and another CHI/FRA.

UK will play a massive role in this game. It will have Africa and the med which I think will be a great battle, India, and Brittan which means the airwar for it along with D-Day sometime+plus the atlantic.
Been that it was in a pact with France and will have units there (BEF) they should be alligned.

Russia will be fun to play now. It will be hard to defend the whold front, but aircraft and where to put them will be important (scambling aginst SBR) and their might also be a tiny naval war for Archangel sea zone. And another fun thing for Russia will be defending aginst the orginal Russian attak. Been that China have a similar thing (land war) they should go togeter.

The leaves the US to go with the ANZACs, who where under use command, and battle together (coral sea).

    • RE: European (global) National Objectives as revealed by Larry so far

I belive some NOs should be-

      RUSSIA
      The Archangel one
      The 6IPC one

      GERMANY
      Liengrad on Cacacus
Disrupt at least x IPCs of allied conveys

      ITALY
There are lots they could have

      Control of Med
      Gibrulta and Malta
      Cairo
      Suez
      Middle East

      USA

      France

      UK

      Conveys
      All of North Africa+Med
      France

    • RE: Power Groupings - Global Game

As far as I think their are some clear groupings-

UK (inc. India, Canada, SA) and France
      Germany and Italy
USA and ANZAC (The ANZAC was under MacCarthers control, not churchills)
Japan (loner in the Pacific all war)

That leaves just China and Russia (the communists)

This means the game is perfect for 5 people.

As I said, the only time this would be good is if Russia holds all its territories and is about to attack Germany, and so Japan captures 1 territory to stop them.

Theres one problem with this. The A-Bomb can only be droped on 1 city . It cannot damage the entire nation, so stop treating it like it can blow up the whole of Greenland.

The fact that it is giving up its units to fight their will mean that-

China will soon be holding most of the cost
      The DEIs will be taken
UK will have 40+ income or
The US will be so power it can liberate Russian territorys while taking the whole Pacific.

Japan can only really manage 2 major atttacks at one time, so its their loss for attacking.

How do you use your massive US navy/airforce aginst Japan.

Do you focus on first distroying the Japense Navy at the Carolines.
Do you head up though Wake an Guam to attack Shanghi.
Do you move most of it down south of Aus to attack the DEI.

Do you focus on building a massive airforce and hope along islands, building the occasinall airbase, or just by carriers.

I send all my fleet of Hawaii in US1, and in US2 I send 1 carrier (with FTR and TAC), and 1 crusier and 1 transport (loaded) off Queensland to work up in the PHI/DEIs.

The rest of my fleet stays off Hawaii, and, when possible, will distory the Caroline Island fleet.

Yes, I’m sure Sydney and Melborne would just all stop producing war goods just becasue India fell.

I hope ANZAC are indepandant of anyone else, because Brittan did nothing for us, and the only ones who helped us was the US, in return for use of our ports and army.

Transfering money from Aus to Londen would be almost impossible, and so inefficant by the time it gets to the Atlantic there is nothing for the Germans to sink.

    • RE: European (global) National Objectives as revealed by Larry so far

All I mean is landing 2inf in Soviet Far East or whatever its called, not a full scale invasion.

I don’t know how commenwelth income will work.
If I was making the game I would make sea lanes between AUS-UK, CAN-UK, IND-UK, SA-UK and if these sea lanes were kept clear that area (AUS,IND etc.) could transfer some of their income into the UK, or vice versa. Each sealane would have a maixium income  which is the most IPCs this sealane could take (eg IND-UK=10IPCs).
These could then be blocted by a navy or be bombed.

This would then provide an encentive for the Brits to keep the Med and the Atlantic clear.

And one of the things I’m most looking foward for is the battle of the Med between ITY and UK, because I think whoever controls that will control North Africa, Egypt, Suez and the Middle East.
