    • RE: Newbie question, might have missed this at Rulebook

      @Kloever:

      I got a question about taking country’s(zone). For example, i invate Ukraine S.S.R. from Caucasus. Do i get the IPC(2) from the Ukraine?

      If you conquer a territory, you have to reduce the ipc income of the player who lost the fight by the amount of the ip number painted on the map in the territory. This has to be done in the ip chart. In this case: reduce the income of the USSR by 2 (for the territory Ukraine). At the same time, add the same ip number to your ipc income in the ip chart. For example, when starting your turn, your ipc income is at, lets say 30, the ipc income of the USSR is at 25. After you conquered Ukraine, which is worth 2 IPC, your ipc income will increase to 32 and the ipc income of the USSR will decrease to 23. When your turn is finished and you have conquered no more territories, you receive 32 ipc from the bank in the collect income phase.

      @Kloever:

      If i keep pressing to Germany Berlin and i take it, does that mean that Germany loses all of his IPC, even the ones he/she has taken from other players?

      When you conquer Germany, it looses all its money, gathered in the last income phase.

      @Kloever:

      If my zone is attacked, but i got Fighters availeble 3 spots away, can i still call them in for support?

      No. Only the units in the attacked territory can defend. Exception: AA40.2, up to 3 fighters can scramble from an airfield (only AA40.2 europe/Pacific/Global), adjacent ot a seazone which is attacked or involved in an amphibious assault.

      @Kloever:

      And may i do that even if there are no other plains doing a attack, for example Caucusus is attacking Ukraine with 2 tanks and an Infantery, can i still call in Fighters to the fight? Even if they are stationed in Germany?

      No. When you have finished your combat move, (= you have decided which units fight where) no additional or other units may support you.

      @Kloever:

      Me and my girlfriend want to play, just the 2 of us. Do we both take 1 power or does one take the Complete Axis side and the other the Allies side?

      The both of you take one side, 1 player plays axis and the other plays the allies.

      @Kloever:

      If i have unspend IPC, do i keep those for the next round of do i lose them?

      You keep them. i recommend to take some monopoly money to keep track of your treasury, the IPC chart won’t help you that much. The ipc chart just shows the income at a certain point in the game.

    • RE: Axis and Allies Acronyms Commonly Used

      I do not mean a second list but two threads to search in. When I was searching for DOW I screened both threads, just to find out that no one knows. I would have been easier, to peruse only one list. No offending, I appreciate the work you have done, its just that two threads are a little bit distracting. An updated list at the very beginning in a thread which is indicated as “relevant and complete” would be most helpful.

      another one I hit on:

      DOW - Declaration of war

      I recommend someone to update the acronym list. Additionally, it would be more convenient to have only one ACL (:-D acronym list) and not two or more threads, which you have to read through, when you are searching for an abbreviation. JLuna1273’s exel-sheet for finding players is a good example for to set up an acronym list.

    • RE: Blitzing into a neutral

      Friendly neutrals: “They can be moved into (but not through) as a noncombat move by land units of a power that is at war.” (AA40.2, rule book, p. 10)

      Combat move, Blitzing: “A tank can “blitz” by moving through an unoccupied hostile territory as the first part of a move that can end in a friendly or hostile territory.(…) The complete move must occur during the combat move phase.” (AA40.2, rule book, p.15)

      A tank which is blitzing moves in the combat movement phase. Blitzing does not allow to end the second move of the combat movement in a friendly neutral territory. Friendly neutral teritorries can only be moved into in the noncombat movement phase. It would be possible to end the second move of a blitzing manouver in an unfriendly neutral territory.

    • RE: Newbie: transport question

      Two “stops” are not legal. The movement of the transport ends immediately, when the transport unloads. If you unload in the first sea zone you moved to, then your movement will end in the first seazone and you are not allowed to move further to another sea zone.

      Do I understand this correctly - a PDF- or a PNG-file would work better as a TIFF-file? Or do you mean, if I scanned in PDF or PNG I would need a higher resolution as 300 dpi?

    • RE: Should Imperious make a map for this?

      @ imperious: right now I’m searching for a scan/copy shop, able to scan an unflexible paperboard in a size of DIN A0. Till now, I found only one shop in Hamburg, unfortunately, they can print the map at the earliest on January, 6th. So, it looks like that we won’t receive an additional christmas gift (:-().The format of the scan file will be “*.TIFF”, resolution 300dpi - would this fit the requirements for you?

      @Imperious: I`m not in on the scanning thing, but I tend to give an order to a copy shop to scan the map. Afterwards I would load the file up or, if possible, send it to you. Are there any recommendations concerning file format or size or scanning parameters?

      I would also like to print it.

      To whom it may concern: I know a manufacturer in germany, printing those maps in a high quality (blockout banner, 720 dpi eco solvent print) for low costs (e.g. for AA1942 first edition 162cm x 86cm, 42 Euros plus 22 Euros for shipping).

    • RE: Rules: Landing fighter on recently deployed aircraft carrier

      One rule says that a fighter must land during the non-combat movement phase (which is before deployment).  Under Non-combat movement, it says that “You must have a carrier … be placed to pick up a fighter that would end it’s non-combat move in a sea zone”.  So if during non-combat movement, I declare the fighter will return to SZ7 (where the carrier will be), it can land on it.

      Actually, the rules say that fighters must be in “an eligible landing space” by the end of noncombat movement.  Such a space can include a sea zone where a carrier will be mobilized.

      Kriegshund knows his rules (Rulebook, page 26 confirms)
      But, at the risk of doing blasphemy :wink:: I’m always wondering a little bit about this line of argumentation. In my understanding, the fighter should not be allowed to land on a carrier mobilized in the mobilization phase. The “eligible landing space” should fit to “…the end of the NCM phase”. In my opinion, the fighter should land at the end of the NCM. At that special point of the turn within the NCM there should be an eligible landing space. A fighter should not be allowed to “land” in the mobilization phase, because landing is the final part of moving and moving ends at the end of the NCM. In the example stated above, the fighter could only land on water at the end of the NCM… when the CV is yet layed on keel in the shipyard.

    • RE: 1942 2nd Edition Oversized/Mega Map assistance required

      “There is no conflict!” (Darth Vader)

      @ freemind: could it be, that you mixed up the 2 editions of AA42? The map, you uploaded is quite identical to AA42 edition 1 - same borders, same values, territory dimensions slightly differing (I took a look on my AA42 1st edition map and compared it to your uploaded map). The map of AA42 edition 2 is totally different in comparison to your uploaded map, as “Does-not-feed-trolls” and imperious leader already mentioned.  :wink:

      Finally: montanamans question for support is not yet answered. As far as iknow, there does not exist a map for AA42 2nd edition right now, but perhaps imperious leader could help. Additionally, I remember some other threads, were players asked for a map download.

      Illustrious Class Mk II
      Here is the ‘pill-box’ version of the illustrious class. When I tried the former decal version, it occured that the ‘bumps’ on the flight deck (AA-guns) brought some problems about when attaching the decals. Additionally, the island (tower) shape was modified.

    • RE: First draft 1914 map file

      Great Map! Whereas I don’t know the game and the OOB map here is some input:

      No shaded borders:

      • Austria
      • Ottoman empire
      • Spanish Marocco
      • All german colonies in Africa
      • Somaliland
      • Ethiopia
      • Holland
      • Norway
      • Sweden
      • Denmark (double border)
      • Greece
      • Bulgaria
      • Persia
      • Afghanistan

      Border shading pattern switching:

      • Alsace: not consistent with other german countries
      • Belarus: not consistent with other russian countries

      Border missing:

      • Canada (Right beneath country name ‘Canada’)
      • Ireland (right of the country token)

      Typos:
      Marselles - Marseilles
      Afganistan - Afghanistan

      “Wondering”:

      • German East Africa - some blue brushes (lakes?)
      • Why are there sometimes countries with town names (e.g. Kiel, Hannover, Munich) and sometimes countries with their correct names (Prussia, Silesia)?
      • Kiel/Hannover: very strange locating and naming; Kiel is the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany. Whereas Schleswig-Holstein lies between the North Sea and the
         Baltic Sea, Kiel is located at the coast of the Baltic Sea. Hannover is the capital of Lower Saxony, another northern state of Germany, in fact located where the map shows the area of ‘Kiel’.
      • There is a country without a name (between  Transjordan and Egypt)
