first try of the USS wasp….

“I know, what you did last winter”
Awesome, a lot of details and nice camouflage patterns…. and work! I like most the german StuGs in “Flecktarnmuster”, any of the paratrooper units, the italian aircraft and the japanese submarines - very nice, stunning! It must have taken a ot of time…even the applying of the decals… looking at those units I think about painting some of mine anew.
@ Baron: For some time I tracked your threads with an increasing interest. All inputs you gave were very interesting and worthwhile to think about, but…meanwhile I’m really curious about your rulebook and how you will manage to get it across to other players? I imagine, all the extended rules will make it to roundabout a 20-30 extra pages? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to annoy you, but did you already took into the account AA novices or even experienced players, who shall make themselves familiar with the (extended) game rules? Yet my friends -new to the game -are bothered and annoyed by the details of the rulebook of 42.1.
I tired your links, it loads then doesnt show anything and asks to retry? Is that on my end? Tried IE9 and Firefox.
thanks for any help!
You don’t need to sign in, you just have to press an additional button at the upper right corner (see graphic below). Both the left and right button as well will lead you to another desktop, where you can download the file.

The cruiser below is a special camouflage ship for the american player. The ship shall look like a japanese ship (because of the color) but in effect it is an american one! It refers to a navy unit of the so called Misprint-Class.
swedo, your accuracy is astonishes me again and again! Very nice work!
Concerning the roundels: when I painted my pieces, I decided to skip the roundels. While they look very nice piece by piece, it’s too much work and after all: a lot of infanterie units in a crowd may look a little bit gaudy. However, painted roundels may have an advantage for newbies (obvious differences…).
Second one…
CV HMS Formidable 1942 (Illustrious Class)

It works, but stifles the game play. Especially if you play with NO’s.
Why and where is it stifling the game play? I’m very curious about shifting the income phase to the beginning of the turn, but I couldn’t realize it yet in a game. In my opinion there is just less money in the game and for this reason less fighting units in comparison to the traditional AA sequence. This will lead to a shorter game, what would be appreciated by a lot of players, I assume.
Of cause, it’s much more difficult to complete the NO’s, and some NO’s are essential for the sake of a balanced game play (whereas some NO’s seem to me very whimsical - Italy, Mare Nostrum?! That’s a joke taken history into the account…). On the other hand, NO’s could be modified in a way that they would be easier to achieve…
First try of the HMS Illustrious.
In my opinion, the sculpt designer must be somewhat blind…definitely, this sculpt wasn’t build to the dimensions of the original. There were a lot of differences in width and length of the sculpt in comparison to detailled carrier drawings, especially it was a pain to adjust bow and stern.
However, here it is…

Wish list:
What I still need is a silhouette of the flight deck of the sculpt of the italian carrier “Aquila”. Does anyone have one? Even though I got two sculpts of the Aquila I can’t scan them due to there huge island (tower part of the ship) and I don’t want to “decapitate” my italian carriers, because they are already painted.
coloured drawings of Aquila, Kostromitinowa and Graf Zeppelin
…I appreciate any support, there is still a lot to do…
cbm shapes of:
Illustrious
Shinano
cbm shapes are the background layers for the flight deck decals. They are related to the dimensions of the sculpts.

Good work Commander! A very fascinating design, I like the camouflage drapery and the idea to raise up the board to the ceilling! I had the same idea, but unfortunately my playing room is not high enough. I thought about an indirect light installation - lamps underneath the ceiling shining down on the up raised table could give a nice illumination. When lowering the table you have a direct light shining on the gaming area.
The drawers - personally I’m in doubt, that this will work…don’t get me wrong, it’s an absolutely nice and affectionately work, but think about the positions player will stand and move during the game. If you open the drawers, there will be not much space around the table, players may abut(t) upon the drawers inadvertently.
:-) That’s great support, thank you very much! :-)

so perhaps I could paypal you post and handling for some print-outs?
Sounds good, I’m open for anything reducing costs.
Sounds like you’re working on others
Yes, I’m working on some others. Meanwhile I’ve got roundabout 30 highly detailled flightdeck drawings (Wasp Class, Essex-Class, Ark Royal Class, Illustrious Class, all japanese carriers, Graf Zeppelin etc.) and I commenced, modifying them.
is it ok if I wait to see if you create other decks?
Yes, it’s ok. Please give me some time to produce the decals in an adequate manner. If you are used to produce and receive quality, you are supposed to do things in some peace and quiet, otherwise it would be without rhyme or reason. The drawings have to be modified pixel by pixel.
I’ll look around for flight deck images and send them your way - cool?
Please, wait a little bit, this weekend I’m going to release in the forum a list of flight deck drawings I already researched and acquired. Additionally there will be some flight deck drawings I haven`t got yet. It would be nice, if some of us might research in the net or use personal or private sources to accomplish the list.

Is a link where YOU personally link the instructional!
…it seems, I’m not the only one wondering…
I plan on contributing to this Kickstarter:
Clear Dice ShieldPic:
I’m in doubt about the usability of this design…
1. dicing in a acrylic or plexi glass box is very loud!
2. sooner or later you will see finger prints and scratches on the material
3. for any dicing you have to put the “shield” on the game table very carefully, when the gaming area is very crowded
4. a hundreds of time placing the “shield” on the table and taking it off afterwards is very time consuming in comparison to a blocked or adjusted dice tower or dicing field
5. perhaps to take into the account: acrylic glass has a tendency to “work” when it gets warm
just my view, based on experiences with some acrylic designs…
Just an idea, never tried this but it should work: put the “collect income” phase form the end to the beginning of the turn. Right now the rule book tells, that you have to collect income at the end of the turn, where you receive money for all countries you just conquered. It’s the widest expansion of your force in a certain round and for that reason associated with a “maximum income”. In the course of the round, when the other parties start their combat moves you probably lose previously conquered terrain and hence IPCs you just have “earned” in your turn of the round. Starting a turn with the collect income phase would let you earn less money a turn in comparison to the collect income phase at the end of the turn. Eventually that’s the logic behind the idea:
rules: collect income at the the end - widest expansion - maximum income - more units could be bought - prolongation of battles -more time invested
idea: collect income at the beginning - smallest expansion - only minimum income -less unit could be bought - shortening of battles due to less resources - less time invested.
@CWO:
It’s stated in the unit table of Pacific 19402e, that the ANZAC tactical bomber is a Hampden TB.Mk.1. Thats wrong, it is a Bristal Beaufort.
Yes, this was previously noted by kcdzim in Reply #139 of this thread:

Oh, sorry, I didn’t know about that thread, eventually I lost my labour and waisted your time…
It’s stated in the unit table of Pacific 19402e, that the ANZAC tactical bomber is a Hampden TB.Mk.1. Thats wrong, it is a Bristal Beaufort. For a comparison, see the following pictures. Main difference is the tail unit.
