    • RE: Supreme map 1942 ed 2

      Hi Foxtrot,

why do you want to cut a map into 8 pieces?

This question aside, I don’t know, how to handle this, I never tried. The original map has to be devided into 8 parts, that is, 8 mini maps, every mini map consisting of a certain space of the original map. For those kind of operations I recommend a powerful programm like photoshop.

Thank you, Panther! It works fine!
Several times before, I tried the triple dot, and may be due to problems with connecting to the thread, the server cut me off, so I had no access to the edit menue.

How Can I edit my message, when it was already submitted to the thread? I have to change some information in the 1942 2nd edition forum concerning the download of my maps. Wright now I can see only two buttons: “reply” and “quote”.

Due to the migration of the Axis&Allies homepage the order of contents related to the pages of this thread has changed.

You find the links to the maps on pages 2 and 3 of this thread.

The link IL is proposing does not lead to the 5 versions of the supreme map. If you want to download one or all of the supreme maps, you have to switch to page 2 and 3 of this thread. The 5 versions are described in detail.

    • RE: Captured German Capital and Industrial Production? Need help!

      (p. 22):
“You cannot place your new units at an industrial complex owned by a friendly power, unless that powers capital is in
enemy control and you have taken control of the industrial complex from an enemy power after the friendly powers
      capital was captured.”

As long as your power is not in control of Moscow, you are not allowed to mobilize troops in Moscow.
You are not allowed to mobilize troops in ANY industrial complex which is not under YOUR control.
You have to capture Moscow first, then you are allowed to build troops there.
To capture Moscow/Russia by your power, this territory has to be liberated by an allied power beforehand! Sounds complicated…

On page 26 the handbook does not state the complete sentence, mentioned above, so it is a little bit misleading.

    • RE: Anniversary Map?

I’m from Germany, and the German Criminal Code states:

      Section (86a).
      (1) Whosoever
      1.  domestically distributes or publicly uses (…) symbols of (…) a former National Socialist organisation or
      2.  produces, stocks, imports or exports objects which depict or contain such symbols for distribution or use in Germany or abroad (…),
shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years or a fine.

      (2) Symbols within the meaning of subsection (1) above shall be in particular flags, insignia, uniforms and their parts, slogans and forms of greeting. (…)

So I must refuse your request concerning swastikas as insignia on the map.

This is an image of MY original map of the new anniversary edition 2017, bought in December 2017: as you can see there is

      • no Malta
      • no Cairo
      • no Polesti
      • no Sicily
      • no Corsica
      • no Sardinia

    • RE: Anniversary Map?

@IL: I don’t know what you mean. I bought the NEW (2017) anniversary edition and compared it to your supreme map. In the new anniversary edition

      • there is no territory Malta
      • there is no territory Acores
      • there is no victory city Polesti
      • there is no victory city Cairo
      • there is no territory (name) Sicily
      • there is no territory (name) Corsica
      • there is no territory (name) Sardinia
      • victory city Honolulu is located on the biggest island

No big deal concerning differences (what I stated above), with the exception of two additional territorries (Malta, Acores). I can understand your historical approach, but my approach was to rebuild the up-to-date anniversary map. I don’t know the former anniversary map (1st edition from 2008), perhaps it contents the above mentioned cities and territories - the current version does not. No offending…I appreciate all the stuff you developed, but am I wrong when correcting the map details listed above which are not included in the new edition?

By the way, hopefully we don’t need to discuss the correct location of Honolulu, when there are dozens of topological or geographical incorrect locations of territories, of cities or whatever on ANY original and rebuilded AAA map.

A second version of the map:

      • Anniversary 2nd Ed
      • no IPC track

    • RE: Anniversary Map?

No problem with the IPC Tracker. It is just a layer (something like a transparency) which could be switched off easily. Please find below the link.
Personally, I found it more convenient to track the IPC on the map, this avoids the use of an additional tool on the table.

Differences between IL’s map and the Anniversary 2ed:

      • territory Malta was deleted/does not exist
      • territory Acores was deleted
      • victory city Polesti was deleted
      • victory city Cairo was deleted
      • territory Corsica was deleted
      • territory Sardinia was deleted
      • territory Silicy was deleted

    • RE: Anniversary Map?

Shortly before christmas I was looking for the same item to print a map as a gift to my spouse’s son, who is meanwhile in on AAA. Fortunately, I detected the maps of IL. Unfortunately, there are some slight errors in the maps, concerning at least the new edition (territories and victory cities). Finally, I raked up my old map files and converted them to the Anniversary edition. To cut a long story short, there is new file existing, I will load it up within the next days.

    • RE: Sired's Map project - Updated- 4/16 - files available see first post

From a point of view of someone, who unfortunately failed to play global (due to missing co-players): most missing project, great ideas and very fine adaption - Merry Christmas to the community, this is a gift for most of the players! I think you are on the right way. When adapting the smaller maps of 42 and 41, I hadn’t to face the problem of ‘not enough space’, on those maps, there are much less territories especially in Europe/Asia and the map projects based on the idea to enlarge the complete map in size. However, I did some adaptions when I scaled some single neutral territories (Mongolia, Switzerland), which were too big in size in comparison to the important territories. If anything, as an additional idea but no big deal, reducing space of strictly neutrals in global could work perhaps (yes, I know, some players incorporate attacks of strictly neutrals into their strategy).

    • RE: Supreme map 1942 ed 2

I don’t know of any copyright issues. The map itself is an adapted selfmade jpeg, as are the borders and elements of the map (insignia etc.).
As long as you do not try to sell the map it should be no problem.

No problem, perhaps the thread was moved, because it was viewed more than a 100 times but not answered yet by anyone.

It was a little bit strange to me when I had a look at the original forum this morning. At first sight I thought, the thread was deleted - with no comment. Well, weird, but finally I found the post here. Thank you for your answer!

    • What do you think about sticky introductions into submarine and transport rules

When following the forums of 1941 and 1942.2, I counted roundabout 20 topics (that is up to 10 percent) with questions concerning submarine or transport rules in both of the forums. It seems that for new players especially these rulebook parts are difficult to understand. Wouldn’t it be appropriate to pin down these rules in general parlance and to make them sticky in the forums? Honor to the members, who has already answered the more or less countless questions concerning these topics, but in my opinion we should put an end to this and stop to reinvent the wheel by giving a clearer wording to these mechanics of the game obviously difficult to understand. What do you think?

    • RE: Supreme map 1942 ed 2

I would prefer to put this map thread back into the 1942-2e board. A map thread is more important in the related board, as people looking for maps firstly search in the corresponding board.

If the person in charge for the map thread movement can’t agree on this (for whatever reasons), I would suggest, the map thread from the 1941 board should be moved to the customization board too to avoid confusions.

    • RE: Supreme map 1942 ed 2

Aside from personal preference I guess… is there any rime or reason one is better than the other?  Or is it really just a personal preference thing.  Even OOB maps have it in both places (1941 vs 1942).

In this case it was just a special, personal wish of one of the users to deploy the mob zone at another place on the map. Was no problem to me to shift the mob zone (it is only “one” object to be shifted apart). If you are going to work with a graphical software like Corel Draw/Paint, it is easy to convert the actual pdf file into a vector graphics file, where you can change all these things. The maps were originally developed with Corel.

Sorry for the late answer, was on travel for some days. Thank you for your kudos! And, of cause have fun playing the map!
