      Oh my, these are quite simple. Thank you so much kind sir. I guess just the way they worded the rules confused me. Thanks again. :wink:

      My apologies if this has already been asked/discussed, but I really do not have the time or attention span to scroll through 179 pages, could someone explain convoy raids. I found them rather unclear in the rulebook. Much obliged.

    • 1939 Global?

      Is there a varitant set up and rule set that uses the Global 1940 board, but is set in 1939 at the start of the war? If so could someone direct to it. If not I will just make my own I suppose. Thanks.

    • RE: French Set…need help to finalize set.

      The Adrian helmet is probably more appropiate of a choice for the infantry in my opinion, as it was the standard French helmet. But Coach if you are looking for a different look from OOB, a beret or kepi would be a suitable and unique choice. It would add some nice diversity. But with keeping historical and game accuracy, Adrian all the way.

    • RE: 2 turn system: How to re-balance the game with such a system

      So recently I played out a game using this system. After many rounds and one of the longest games of axis and allies I have ever endured, it was a stalemate. As Gargantua predicted, London fell. Though we had Britain with two capitals, there income was combined and allowed to be spent at either side of the board. Even after all unit builds went to London turn one, it fell turn two. So only London income was lost and the Brits fought on from India. Nevertheless Italy become a God economically and militarily. The Brits in the Med and Africa were sunk naval wise and overwhelmed on land by Italy. The German navy became large enough to contend with America, and later on in the game, Italy almost took Stalingrad and successfully took Calcutta for one turn and also controlled all of the middle east. Japan was effectively contained by America, Britain, China and ANZAC and suffered huge losses after very early wins. Japan doesnt stand much of a chance we decided. Russia got hit hard by German attacks and Itailian attacks on their flanks through the middle east. Russia also rolled terribly. But their navy was strong and the capital never fell. America was hard pressed and couldnt fight Germany effectively while also dealing with Japan. It was mostly string after string of failed landings in Africa and the British mainland while sending a token navy to assist the rest of the allies in the Pacific.

      Overall, the system sped the game up tremendously and kept all players focused. I find it to be balanced decently. The axis seemed very strong early in the game and kept the allies at bay except in the Pacific. Britain’s economies should be combined probably, but with a better experienced British player this just might create hell for the axis. Great house rule and I will be playing again with my group this way soon.

    • RE: New World Order - variant with Revised rules on a new, giant custom map

      Great looking game and nice rules!
      Looks very well done.

      I do however notice some historical inacuracies that do bug me though:
      1. Poland has no airforce when in 1939 they did have an airforce equipped with one of the best bombers in the world and numbers of early monoplane fighters.

      2. Denmark seems to have quite a large military compared to that of the Dutch and Belgians whose military forces were far larger.
      The Danish have 3 infantry, a tank, artillery, and another ground unit. While the Belgians and Dutch have 3 infantry each. The Danish contained no armoured divisions of that size, or any armor at all if I recall.

      Are these inacuracies due to balance issues? Just wondering, I do not mean to offend you or your hard work. Thanks.

    • RE: Global 1940 Alpha 2 - cash in all units and purchase House Rule

      @taschuler:

      I wanted to get some feedback on a house rule where players purchase all of their units and place as they wish prior to the start using the total IPC values from Alpha 2 setup, and still using all Alpha 2 rules and National Objectives.

      RULES:

      • All Industrial Complexes and Naval/Air Bases Remain and are not cashed in

      • Additional Industrial Complexes and Naval/Air Bases may be purchased with the players cash, with the exception of China which may not build any of these

      • Each territory with an IPC value of 2 thru 5 must have Infantry (Mechanized or regular) in a quantity of at least one less than the IPC value of the territory

      • Territories with an IPC value higher than 6 must have at least 5 Infantry (see the United States mainland)

      • There will be four placement turns prior to the first actual turn of the game. Each player purchases and places their units in reverse order of the normal turn order. France first, Italy second, etc.

      • The Chinese player may only purchase (non-mechanized) Infantry and a single Fighter, but the Chinese player is not required to purchase a Fighter

      • A maximum of 2 IPCs can be carried over to the next turn, with the exception of turn 4 when up to 5 IPCs may be saved for the players first actual turn in the game

      • Players cannot place units in territories other than their own with the exception of Japanese controlled China, France and UK (London), ANZAC and UK (London or Calcutta). The UK player must keep his two sides separate and cannot share money or place units on the other side of the map.

      CASH PER PLAYER PER TURN (in placement order):

      • FRANCE (Total 132): 33 per turn

      • ITALY (Total 223): 56 for the first three turns, 55 for turn four

      • ANZAC (Total 91): 23 per turn, 22 for turn four

      • UK (Calcutta) (Total 130): 33 for the first two turns, 32 for the last two turns

      • UK (London) (Total 318): 80 for the first two turns, 79 for the last two turns

      • China (Total 58): 15 for the first three turns, 13 for turn four

      • USA (Total 278): 70 for the first two turns, 69 for the last two turns

      • Japan (Total 570): 142 for the first two turns, 141 for the last two turns

      • Russia (Total 248): 62 per turn

      • Germany (Total 399): 100 for the first three turns, 99 for the last turn

      Im sorry, forgive my ignorance, but which number is the money ammount players get? And could someone please explain this rule more clear as I dont exactly understand. Im sorry.

    • RE: 2 turn system: How to re-balance the game with such a system

      So has anyone came up with set up changes that might balance the 2 turn system of the game? I will be playing this next week hopefully so Im eager to see what people might have come up with.

      I know TheDefinitiveS has Britain combined, which will be a hypothetical beneficial change that will keep sealion from being successful due to large British income. But at the same team this leaves Britain able to massively build up and counter the European axis with America’s help firstly and hopefully Russian forces, while ANZAC and China and U.S in the Pacific gang up and overrun Japan with minor British help. In which case the game favors the allies even more than usual. What are your guys thoughts? And from experience what exactly does need to be changed?

    • RE: The French

      @Lord:

      As for the topic at hand, I’m in favour of improving the French position with House Rules. I very much respect the French (probably the only person I know who does), and I was saddened when they were pretty much made cannon-fodder for the Germans.

      Have you seen my name? I share your opinion as well. I love the French and beleive if just some mistakes had not been made in WW2, the French would have prevailed. Now you have to understand, this game is not an exact historical replay. Balance must be maintained otherwise the game is no fun. France will have its day in a WW1 game some day, but until then, you have to understand that France will never be a great power in any Axis and Allies games except for maybe a 1939 one. It hurts I know. Every game of Global 1940 regardless of side, Im always rooting for the French to win. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt. Its a game of chance.

      ^Above I beleive the reason France is given so much bad rep, is because they surrendered. They were a first class military and they surrendered as a whole country. Countires like Greece or Holland or Belgium, stood no chance against Germany, and they surrendered. But France outnumbered the Germans and I think most people see this as a prime reason for giving France crap. They had better armored tanks and more men, but they surrendered. And it was a quick campaign of France too. Great Britian, though they had many defeats, never gave up their country. They were prepred to fight to the death. Not to say France didint fight, no they gave the Germans hell and many French and Germans died in the process. I think the shock of French military defeat is probably why they are made fun of. The country that bore Napolean lost to a country with less men. Its just shocking. People just need to understand history more and give respect to those that died. France tried hard, but the Germans had better tactics. The French fought for their country just as hard as any American or Brit or German fought for theirs. Their sacrrifice doesnt deserve the crap they get.

    • RE: HBG sculpts for U.S. set

      @coachofmany:

      @FieldMarshalGames:

      Just so we do not duplicate efforts here, the following are in the COMBAT UNITS - USA set and are already being sculpted:

      B-24 Liberator

      Douglas C-47 Skytrain

      Grumman TBM Avenger

      Only one duplicated and their is no other choice for it really.

      The Devistator was an early war U.S  naval torpedo bomber. Also you could do a Helldiver dive bomber.

    • RE: Empires: Global War based on early start of Great War circa 1898?

      @Imperious:

      More research. We can’t just invent numbers that look good, they have to be based on fact. All the other values are spot on. Keep looking for the missing pieces.

      Also, we need land unit values…

      Alright, just giving us an option in case we cant find this information.
      So basic land units were:
      Infantry 2IPCs? Most countries had armies largely made of infantry, and these were the main forces. Cost should be smaller than regular Axis and Allies.
      Infantry kneeling with Machine gun ( entrenched infantry) 3 IPCs?
      Artillery 4 IPCs?
      Cavalry 5 or 4 IPCs?
      Rail Gun  ( tech)
      Bi-plane ( tech)
      Tank ( tech)
      These tech pieces need to be exspensive, but not too much.

    • RE: Empires: Global War based on early start of Great War circa 1898?

      I stand corrected. The GDP listed on wikipedia doesnt have 1900 for 1960 dollars for China Japan or U.S. Rather it has either 1870 or 1913 as years with GDP for those countries in 1990 international dollars. Technically from 1870 to 1913, you would think GDP would only increase, which gives us an option to maybe calculate those countries GDP roughly by like finding a GDP value in between. Whats your call Imperious Leader?
