Another example of the media printing a story without actually checking the facts.

They are so intent on “getting people” and trying to be the first to break a story that they completely ignore research and whether the story is even true.  Idiots.

Yes, I would also agree that a rd 3 lurch is too early for Germany.

In this game, EEU was stacked so well that it was unfeasible for Russia to attack it ever. This was also a good strat becuase the tanks just sat there for defense until they were needed in Karelia or WEU, and more and more inf just kept piling up there.

The 4 German inf bid in Libya also made things difficult for the allies. UK could have used its bomber against German ships but it was too preoccupied with liberating Africa.

I like his cocky nature though. It reminds me of me. Not boring at least!!

Have a quick question for you. I noticed that in PBEM games the attacker generally handles the casualty choices in combat for both players. However, in some cases, where multiple rounds of combat are involved, or in some tricky naval engagements, I can see that the defender would no doubt prefer the autonomy to make these important choices. How is this difficulty generally handled?

I had this exact same question so I searched the forums.  I thought I’d bump this rather than start a new thread.
This seems like it could be a game losing factor in the naval battles he suggested.  Perhaps an opponent might choose to lose his carrier so that the fighters can fight one more round and then crash into the ocean, or perhaps he wants the opposite.  And what if you combat move into a submarine, how do you know if we wants to submerge it or sacrifice it and take down a ship.

Even if the answers to these examples are obvious and I"m not aware, maybe noone would ever in their life sac a sub or something.  But surely there must be SOME situation where it is not appropriate for the attacker to choose casualties even if they do their best to remain unbiased.

Sadly with PBEM or Forum play, the only way to ever handle such situation is to halt combat and ask the defender how he wants the battle to go. Generally the attacker uses his logic but when multiple choices arises, he needs to put the game on hold and ask the defender. However such decisions usually occur only 3-4 times per game

Whether or not I roll for tech depends on how the game is going. Usually I will only do it when desperate or when trying to quickly finish a game I have already won but my opponent won’t concede.

But if my opponent starts to roll for tech, I might follow suit depending on my assessment of the situation.

After wasting what i would call a long month on it….

I would call it fair… Civ 4 while is better and worse than civ 3 which rocked out … for every point they added to the game i feel they took one away… Its a little too graphic heavy IMHO… i mean its civ… has it ever looked good? hence longer loads between turns… so not worth it…

The multi caliber political system… while it looks more complicated and more involved … ahh i feel its rather bah after i played a few times…

the effects of land bonuses… ahh i simply think they over did it this game… ahh but it does add to being able to trade with your neighbor…

The AI well its still cracked out … so that’s the same…

anyway those are my humble opinions on the game… At least they didn’t go Masters of Orion 3 on it and ruin a good title… gawd that blew…

Why would I want to dominate the world? All I want is the world to think on it’s own without being told what to think. Or, in the words of an 80s/90s band: “Stop the world, I want to get off!”

I think all humans should be destroyed and we should let computers run the planet….at the very least, it should be Matrix style where we do what the computers want and stay out of trouble. The problem with humans is they are flawed and always will be flawed.
