      @marechallannes:

      :? What are you dreaming on :?

      Ever played a global  game? Who played Russia in this game?

      I’ve played 2 global games actually, both Allied wins.  Want to know why?  Axis was game over start of turn 7 because of attrition.  Both games the sealion failed because of rolls and or lack of force.  We’re not retards that can’t add or subtract here, we know all about probability and strategy.  Sealion has around 45% chance of succeeding, not very good, unless of course UK is a moron and builds all in Africa.  This is assuming all players know basics here.

      You don’t end Russia’s IPC collection, and kill Russia what, turn 8 or 10?  Hell, maybe we’re not playing the same fricken global game.  Because Turn 8 or 10 USA has far and beyond out IPC’d Germany and Italy combined for FOUR TURNS or more.  Yay, I took Russia turn 13, oh snap I just lost Berlin and Italy on the same turn 4 turns ago, gg USA/UK.

      Germany can take Russia G4, I know for a fact it can do it G5.  I just need to wait for my board to clear up to do some testing.  Telling me dream on is pretty laughable, don’t even know what attrition is  :|

      @gamerman01:

      Agree with special forces.  It is almost impossible to take Moscow on G4.  That’s advancing 1 territory each and every round without stopping.  There’s no way.

      If you can capture Moscow by like G10 or G12, you ought to be able to win as Axis, no?

      Giving America too much time to mess with your plans is too risky, going in and not taking Moscow is always Risky.  Trying to get operation S’ebis a early win on Moscow so Axis has time to reset and attack America / UK.

      So looking at Japan IPC from attacking…

      China: 12 IPC
      Russia:  12-13 IPC

      Netting around 50 IPC to defend USA and setup for attacking India.  Use most of your sea force you can setup shop to claim the Dutch Islands.  But Allies (if smart) would trench the Dutch Islands and put Infantry on them.

      J2 you take Kansu from China.  Japan builds nothing but bombers… lands them J3 on Kansu.  Attack Russia J4… than G5 Moscow win?  So G4 is a little out of reach, but I’m thinking with Japanese airforce helping… G5 is possible?

      I haven’t played with Germany yet in Global, just USA and Japan.  What difficulties does Germany have defeating the Russian army?  How can Germany get around Moscow poised to attack G4?

      Italy looks pretty good after turn 4’ish, probably around 33 IPC if not more with luck.

      Germany would be around 50 IPC I assume, maybe more if Russia pulls units from Novgorod.

    • Operation S'ebis … omg??

      Global: 1940… an animal you don’t really like to mess with as Axis.  Some fear it so much as to toss the OOB setup out the window haha!  I have an idea that needs some brainstorming still, but have a basic idea of what needs to be done.

      Operation S’ebis (Russian for “Get the f**k out”).  The basic premise of this strategy is to focus all of Germany and all the Japanese armies into the mother land.

      –G1 and J1 attacks into Russia.  Reasoning:  Less IPC Russia has, the less Infantry he’ll have in Moscow.

      –I1 should focus on the UK to buy Germany and Japan time to kill Russia.  Kills France.

      –G4 should be capturing Moscow.

      –J3 should have China and Dutch Islands.  Readies for India grab.

      –I3 should have good control on Africa.  Control the Med, and harrassing India/UK fleets.

      Thoughts and comments welcome, bad or good!

      After thought:  The whole idea is to unify the Axis powers, it’s like a huge suction into Russia and the Axis than explodes into UK and USA.

    • RE: Best timing for German -> Russia attack & Japan -> Russia/Allies attack

      @marechallannes:

      Best time for a Japanese attack is J2 or J3.

      I prefer J2, Uk-Asia fleet is spread out nd you’ ve got the chance to sink all ANZAC-ships.

      (J1 will do more damage, but you have the risk that US concentrates too early on Europe, J3 maybe is too late and the Pacific minor allies will bei too strong)

      J1 is better in my opinion.  Giving the USA/ANZAC/India time to setup/buy units is a bad move.  You need that IPC to successfully threaten USA later, and you can do it even sooner if the focus on the Atlantic.  Taking IPC away from India and taking the Dutch Islands asap is crucial to a successful Japan.

      Turn 3

      Japan captured India successfully with no airplane casualities!  However Germany failed their SeaLion and lost all their planes on turn 3.  UK built sea fleet in the Med. and Germany is going to have to build everything he can to survive Russian/UK front.  Russia doesn’t have a frontline though and built infantry in Moscow, they have some 60 sitting there lol.

      A Question did come up though regarding Russia and the USA.  If Japan and USA are at war, and Japan/Russia are Neutral…. can USA land troops on Russian soil?  I said no because USA can’t land on Neutral countries.  Hope thats right ???

      Russia declared war on Japan Turn 3, and sadly I have nothing to stop his 18 Infantry from coming into Manch./Korea Turn 4.  Should I take out ANZAC or focus my attention on Russia and USA?

    • RE: Convoy Zones and Submerging Question

      The Russian player needs a destroyer to lift you from the convoy zone because you have a sub there.  Submerged sub in a convoy zone works.

    • RE: Japan 3 Turn India Strike for Global?

      India built a fighter and arty I think.  They also forgot to move their fighter and infantry from Burma.

      I have my Caroline navy in Java.  And my sz19 went to Phillies along with my 2 CV’s from Japan.  So I have 2 DD/ 1 BB / 1 CrZ / 3 transports sitting in Japan sz.  Japan has 6 inf and a art sitting there.

      USA spent everything in Pacific, bases, destroyer in hawaii to kill my sub that sunk its transport.  Has 2 inf / 1 DD / 1 bomber at Hawaii.  Everything else is in Aleutian Islands.

      Aleutian Islands has 2 bombers, 2 tacts, 1 fighter, and a CV with fighter/tact, 1 of each CrZer/BB/DD and a transport with inf/tank.

      India has… 2 tanks/3 fighters/4 inf/2 artys/1 bomber.

    • Japan 3 Turn India Strike for Global?

      Turn I

      I’m playing Japan and declared war on all allies except Russia. (I made a deal with them that they can’t attack me till turn 4.)

      Currently doing a 3 turn India grab, took Java/Phillies/Normal China Grabs, landed aircraft in Kwangsi and built 3 transports.

      In response, the USA took all their Pacific units to the Aleutian Islands and built a NavyBase and a AirBase.

      UK Europe is going to fall on Turn 3 due to a successful airstrike by Germany.  If the USA builds all in the Pacific and I continue the India grab, Japan will probably fall on Turn 3.  Right?

      So I’m at a cross road right now, take DEI and build nothing but Navy/Fighters in Japan and forget India… or do I muster what I can from the Phillies to go to Japan and continue the India grab?

    • RE: Japanes Pacific conquest - preliminary thoughts.

      @zooooma:

      But you can simply declare war against Japan and then move into China.  Really there’s zero drawback in declaring war.  You don’t lose a thing, and Japan doesn’t gain.

      Sounds like a waste of IPC to me.  You can stall the Japanese, but if Japan has captured India and DEI… you’ll have two monsters coming after Russia.  Probably best to focus on attacking Germany.  Plus to note, USA can use northern Russia as a highway to Moscow.  You attack Japan, I know I would take Siberia, not hard to mow down 18 inf with Japanese Airforce.  Than you’ll be losing IPC… and be severally hurting on both fronts.  (Japan will kill India and China, only place left to go with those land units is Russia!)

      It does!  Thanks for the rulebook notes.  Makes taking Japan that much harder, little OP’ing… but it is 4 on 1.

      How the heck do you get your Transports from Japan all the way down to Phil….  and Caroline Transports all the way to Java on J1 ???
      Last time I looked transports only move at a 2…

      There’s this great new thing called Naval bases.  You’ll like it :)

      (same for airbases)

      wow… understatement to say the least that was a huge oversight on my part >_>;;

    • RE: Help For New Player

      @JamesAleman:

      Its a good idea to keep at least 3-4 air units in Japan during the first 3 turns especially, to help defend Japan or any naval builds via scrambling. I also prefer to keep 3-4 air units in caroline islands to prevent a single transport from taking early on, after round 2, you will need to re-evaluate its defense, I commonly use my surface fleet minus the carriers as they head to India early on.

      Much like the UK, Japan is not considered a “Island”.  Scrambling is not allowed with planes sitting in Japan.
