Yep I use all the same ones that Warrior is talking about ( and have bought from Michagan Toy Company as well - they are also great)
Scale is perfect for A&A just a sliver smaller then the INF pieces from the game typically

I’m wondering what others do here.
Is it best to leave them there and try and cost the japanese dearly ? (does anyone attempt to reinforce with planes)
or
Is it better to flee in USA1 ?
if so where to go?
does the fighter go to guam to
a) make guam harder to take and
b) give Japan worries with covering their transports
do the sea units go to Aus or head to pearl ??
If I have a Transport in the Sea-Zone adjacent to Eastern USA (has a port) / Central USA (no sea port) can I load units from both the Central and Eastern USA on to it ?
If so can I then use the port in Eastern USA to move three spaces and unload in morocco ?
No you need De Gaulle
……and I like those “lost patrols” in the desert and the last couple of games they have actually done good things !
(they were able to bring done the fighter from England to lend some punch to their attacks
The Toy Soldier Company is probably best: http://www.toysoldierco.com/index.html
They have decent pictures of the figures and they are nice knowledgeble and super-easy to order from.
(Talk to Jamie and tell him why you want them and he will steer you the most appropriate sets
Click: HO scale soldiers under products and then World War II under the era sub-menu
Is also good for pictures and reviews of the sets but I’ve never bought from them so don’t know how easy / hard that is
I like to use HO (1/72 scale) soldiers for Infantry counters.
Does anyone else do this ?
A number of companies make excellent pieces ( usually a box of ~ 48 costs 7-11$)
This allows varied poses.
This also allows you to use 8th army and Afrika Korps in Africa but standard troops in Europe.
Ghurka units in India
Use the oob pieces for Canada etc.
It also allows for representation of special troop types if you do house rule things like:
US Marines
British Comanndos
SS
etc.
I like them !!!
But I’m bummed that you skipped ANZAC :x
I’d rather have Menzies then Benito !!!
Guess that makes sense – but aren’t the transports still committed???
I thought its “all in” on an amphib assault.
They will die no matter what why let the carrier die too ??
The Carrier is not even there.
Carriers do not accompany their planes in an attack, they move later ( not necc. to the sea zone of attack) and planes land on them during the non-combat phase.
In this scenario the scrambled fighter destroys all the transports killing everything on them.
Only the planes are left for the land battle.
They then die if they can’t land during NCM but the carrier will prob. be there for them by then.
Can The Germans in the Caucasus:
A) Make a combat move to Invade Northwest Persia.
B) Combat (and defeat) the British troops stationed there.
c) Use a tank (or mech) left back in the Caucasus (Not involved in the fighting above) to make a Non-Combat Move to go to Iraq and activate it ?
You were :-o
But that’s cool we all make mistakes
They get a first strike n times where n = the number of times they roll an attack roll without Destroyer’s present.
I like the ANZAC Brazil thing – takes some resources and a lot of time – but my Kiwi’s usually are stranded anyway ----
You will prob. have the extra 2 income all game.
The real reason NOT to do it is to deny the USA the spot.
As USA move ground troops down to Central America before a DOW
As soon as you are in the war Pounce on Venezuela
( fighting 2 troops for 2 income is the best ROI you will find )
Next turn Activate Brazil
…oops just saw the hitch ALL neutrals go pro-axis!
(We house rule neutral blocks so if a SA neutral is taken only the SA neutrals change status - same for european and Middle Eastern blocks)
@ Omega:
The Fighters from Western Germany can’t get to Tobruk after hitting the French fleet in 93 can they ??
I play that a cruiser combined with a BB act an AA Gun on defense vs up to 5 planes.
Also Cruisers Convoy at -2 like Subs.
This makes them worth the 12.
(BBs were also a tad too expensive so it helps for bot of them – and rewards folks for building true naval task forces)
Clintbeastwood was trolling me from his internet capable phone while we were playing.
It was a bit of an inside joke i guess
I guess – good glad to hear it !
Dear oztea, you are an a**hole and you smell like rotten potatoes. Most of your ideas are stupid and do nothing but show how stupid you are. You cant kill the British destroyers with submarines because they’re immune to sub fire. Also, leaving UKs 2 battleship means they get they’re bonus for having 2 battleships. Everyone knows that having more battleships means you win. They’re 4/4s for Christ’s sake. I’d you are going to keep posting asanine comments then stop it. In closing, I hate you. Thank you for your time.
?? WTF ??
Sorry MarKalkin
I tried to post the link but also am too junior – thanks for sending it to me though 8-)
Hope evreyone had a good ANZAC day yesterday !
It’d also be nice to see if subs could retreat if they survive an initial attack by a destroyer, their 1 defense is pitiful and they need some method of escape.
I whole-heartedly agree with this. I’ve never liked the idea that subs can NOT submerge with an enemy destroyer present. I’m fine with destroyers preventing the surprise strike and letting aircraft hit subs, but keeping them from submerging is a load of crap. Submarines could escape destroyers. It may have been harder to do, but it was possible. It’s not right that the presence of an enemy destroyer suddenly “traps” all your subs into taking whatever pounding can be delivered by other warships and air force with no chance of escape.
