RE: Review of FMG Italians and HBG Axis Minorsposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Received my Italian set a few days ago, opened and inspected, while i’m happy with the detail there is a bit of work to be done, the battleships turret problem and all the subs are curved. To make matters worse, i had the dice on order they arrived as well, but i had the misfortune of my package arriving by courier. The box had been crushed, so there were a few broken infantry but can you believe they managed to break some of the dice…… :? Oh well, win some and lose some. By the way the piece count was almost perfect. Thank you Jeremy, will put in another order shortly.

Which takes us to the next question: how will the units hold up to painting them?
FMG’s takes to acrylics just fine, I know this firsthand. I haven’t tried painting any of HBG’s, but I think some others on here have.
HBG’s pieces paint well, i use tamiya acrylics, have just invested in some vallejo, will see how they go. By the way, my son beat me to it, he has already painted 1 set of the axis minors, and is using the vallejo paint, he thinks there cool :-D

excellent job there by allwork, being a professional he has the time to devote to it and he gets paid for it, i struggle just to get the time for it.

To those complaining about lack of tanks, just order another full set, so you have a few more ships than what you need, honestly, give FMG and HBG a good pat on the back, they deserve praise, not criticism. Just like us they are human and cant be perfect all the time :-D

RE: Painting the world at warposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
So i had a bit of a disaster on my hands with the pacific usa. I heard good reports about a product called “Army Painter”, used for the shade, well it wasn’t good at my end. Very expensive, but thought it could save time and everybody said it was good stuff. After applying it it left all my miniatures highly glossed, bugger, had a tin of matt clear so put that over the top and hey presto all my paintwork has bubbled. On top of all that my colour choice was not really correct either. At least it is only my set, order some replacements through HBG. Some pics not so close up……

I dont have the skills of mr allwork, my biggest trouble is finding the time, am a farmer so not much free time at all. Patience and a steady hand are the biggest skills required i think. :-)

Correct :-D I thought some one might chirp up with the markings. What is the most surprising is that finally i have worked out how to post pics without needing links :-)
Ok, so they are modeled after Greg Boyington, number 86, am sure everybody knows about his exploits with “The Black Sheep Squadron” and Ira Kepford, number 29 of the “Jolly Rogers”. -

RE: I- 94 Enterprises Versus Doms decale in the UKposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Just reading about the decals on the doms site, they are a whole sheet, meaning you have to cut around each individual decal. Nearly all I-94 decals are separate. Just something else to consider…

RE: I- 94 Enterprises Versus Doms decale in the UKposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Most sheets have different sizes but i would say rough guess about 40 to 50 per sheet, 2 sheets to a pack, he has scans of them on his website.

Thanks for doing that FMG, will be good to do the italian set when they arrive, i have some of the hbg marines to do as well when i do the pacific U.S. Thanks for the compliments guys. I dont think i would be confident enough to paint somebody else’s pieces, i’d be too worried about not doing a good enough job.
