    • RE: [XDAP2] R2 YoJack (Axis) vs ChuckNorris (Allies, +18)

      Hi,

I am very sorry about the late/lacking response.

Rasmus and I see that we are not able to do our moves on a regular basis. At times we might be able to, but often not. Often it could be weeks between our moves. We are just too busy IRL at the moment. I apologize for that.

So, we wonder how we should deal with this? We are willing to formally lose the game since we can’t fulfill any decent time table.

In any case, it is up to you whether you prefer to continue the game or not. Just now that we will probably play very slowly at times, with weeks between the moves. That is, in case you would like to keep the game going (we could agree that you are the formal winners of the game, no matter how the game goes). It is of course also quite understandable if you don’t have patience with this and prefer to just terminate the game.

      Best regards,
      Dan

    • RE: XDAP2 Round 2 - Atlanta Axis vs Chuck Norris

Perhaps we have to forfeit unfortunately. I am not sure. I have played very few a&a games in recent years, and none in the last six months or so. I sort of counted on my teammate to be responsible for practical matters regarding the tournament. However, I am unsure whether we are able to play. I know that he just left with his family for a 5 weeks vacation to Thailand, think they left a few days ago.

Anyway, as far as I am concerned we would be happy to loose as forfeit or whatever it is called in English. Rasmus (my teammate), please respond if you are able to participate in the game and we are able to actually play.

Sorry about the inconvenience regarding this possible forfeit.

      Hi,

I am sorry that we have not made a move in a very long time. We just didn’t have the time, sorry.

The way things stand, we prefer to stop that game. It has been so long, and we prefer to devote our limited time to other active games instead. I am very sorry about this.

Don’t know if it is desired to end the game in some official way? As far as we are concerned, we are fine with being the official losing team of the match, have no problems with that.

Anyway, thanks for an interesting game. For my part, I had fun with it when we had the time. Again, sorry about our erratic response time.

      Regards,
      Dan

      Hi Eric

Thanks for your offer to reconsider. However, I still prefer to surrender, still for a mix of the 3 mentioned reasons I guess, not least that I unfortunately feel that my interest in the game is not very big at the moment. I am sorry about this.

I will let you know when I am ready to start a new game, nice that you would be interested in a low luck game.

And as mentioned, I don’t know how to register finished matches, please let me know how I should register my defeat etc.

    • RE: 14L G40 Eric M (allies +11) vs. dane (Axis)

Oh yes, that was quite bad dice.

I wish to surrender and loose the game. Several reasons:

      1. Partly because of the dice so far, unbalanced game the way I see it. It would be difficult for axis to regain a position strong enough for the game to be balanced and exciting.
      2. I wish to only play low luck games in the future, at least for a while. So far my experience with the game has been that the dice often contributes to weird outcomes, unbalances the game early and decisively. To the extent that i should want to play axis in the near future, I wish to play more “normal” games, see how such games unfold.
      3. Perhaps more importantly, I just feel that my desire to play axis is quite low at the moment. I currently don’t have much motivation to make moves in my games. If it wasn’t for the 72 hour deadline I would probably wait weeks before making a move, because I would rather spend my time doing other things. Not a good attitude for playing the game.

I am sorry about this. 1-2 months ago when I started playing axis again, my motivation to play the game was much higher than it is now. I am sorry that this has changed.

How does one finish the game officially, register you as winner etc.?

Just wanted to mention that worst case is that it might be a week or so untill we make our next move. Perhaps much sooner though, but hard to tell. I am in Copehagen for a short stay untill start of next week (I am Danish, but live in Norway currently). It is possible that I meet up with Rasmus who also lives in Copenhagen, and that we might make the move then. But unsure, hard to tell what time we have on our hands. I am sorry that we are so slow currently, hope to improve it a bit along the way.

By the way, regarding Axis and Allies I am currently wondering about something, perhaps you guys have an opinion?

I am considering to just play low Luck games for a while. I know I have limited experiece to judge from. However, out of my first 3 ongoing games it seems like the dice have severely skewed two of them early and that the dice have been the major cause of unbalancing the game early. One game is the one with you guys, to me it seems like Rasmus and I have had extremely lucky dice from early. In another game I actually surrendered as axis after Italy 1 because of horrible dice in each turn, the position seemed close to hopeless even that early (in another game I surrendered as allies after Italy 1, but that was because I made a total fuck up and lett axis take and hold Egypt easily, had nothing to do with unlucky dice).

I guess my question is: How often do the dice severely unbalance the game early? 50% More? Less? Your best guess percentagewise? Personally I think I would prefer low luck games most of the time, unless that number is no more than 10-20% at the most. As mentioned, I suspect that number to be much higher.

By the way, even if I would prefer low luck games for a while, it would probably change along the way. Just think it would feel nice to get a feel of what “normal” games are like at first. The dice seem to often make it somewhat difficult to gain experience at “normal” games.

Guess the move you talk about is a non combat move? In any case I guess it is fine to just edit the change according to your wishes, I guess that would only be fair (I have not checked the map, so at the moment I don’t know the specific move).

In any case, just wanted to let you know that be might get a move out today. I am not sure though, have not heard back from Rasmus. We try to Skype during the move, think it is fun to do it that way.

Regarding this, I wonder what preferances you have regarding the 72 hour rule etc.? If that is important to you, we will of course try our best to violate it as little as possible. However, personally (and I think Rasmus as well) would prefer a more flexible approach, e.g. that it is no problem if it is sometimes 4-7 days before a move is posted (even if we will try and do it sooner when possible). But again, I respect that the 72 hour rule is the main rule if you prefer that, and I see that there can be some pros for that rule as well, that the game could be a little slow otherwise. Anyway, what do you guys think?
