Any update on when flight stands will be back in stock? I know the site says “mid-April”. Thx!
These are going to be fun - ordered!

P.S. - Sorry YG
My bracket is about busted too. Picked MIN, CHI, WSH, BOS, SJS, MTL, CBJ, and CGY. :D
@Dad:
I bought AAA1941 for my 9 year old son and we started playing with the help of some youtube tutorials.  There are certain scenarios that have occurred during the game about which we have some fairly detailed questions.  Does anyone have the time and willingness to offer some help?  The questions are as follows, but you can also email me privately, thanks.  The questions are verbose, sorry about that, but I didnt know how to condense them without losing the specific points…
If the NATIONAL PRODUCTION number-line printed on the top of the board keeps track of IPCs, how come we have to keep track of IPCs on a separate piece of paper?
For example, if Germany starts a turn with 12 IPCs and purchases a Destroyer for 8 IPCs, wouldn’t that lower their NATIONAL PRODUCTION to 4 IPCs on the NATIONAL PRODUCTION number-line on the board? Or does it stay the same on the board and just get lowered in the bank (on the separate piece of paper) and if so, is the NATIONAL PRODUCTION number-line on the board just keeping track of territories and not effected by purchases, and the bank (separate piece of paper) keeps track of purchases and NOT territories? In battles:  If the battle looks something like this:
ATTACKER: GERMANY
1 Bomber
1 Aircraft Carrier
2 Fighters
3 InfantryDEFENDER: UNITED STATES
1 Bomber
1 Destroyer
1 Fighter
1 Infantry
1 Transport
I roll the dice for the Bomber to attack but am I rolling the die once for the Bomber to attack the US Bomber, and then again for my Bomber to attack the US Destroyer, and then again for my Bomber to attack the US fighter, and a 4th time to attack the US Infantry, and a last time to attack the US Transport; and then roll the die for my Aircraft to attack each one of the US units again; and then do the same for each of my fighters and each of my infantry?
OR do I roll the dice for my Bomber to attack just ONE of the US units? And then roll for the Aircraft carrier to attack another of the US unitsso on?
And if so, how do I determine which US unit my Bomber, or Aircraft, etc, is attacking? Or is it only a Bomber fights a Bomber, an aircraft fights an Aircraft, etc?
Related to above question, another permutation of battle:  If my German fighter attacks 3 US infantry do I roll the die 3 times, one time for each of the 3 US infantry or do I only attack once and if I hit, only take out one US infantry?  Conversely, I assume the 3 US infantry has one shot each, which is a total of 3 shots, against my fighter?
I know a tank can blitz, but if a territory is undefended and empty -has no hostile units in it and no friendly units in it- during a Combat Move can I just fly a fighter in, or walk an infantry in, and put a Control Marker there without a battle at all? Â
If the US wants to invade Japan, being an island, how do I offload land units form a transport in order to combat there?  It seems I am not allowed to offload land-units onto hostile islands?  Am I only allowed to combat hostile islands with air units?
Another permutation of this situation:
If my German Tank is in Gibraltar and I want to combat in North Africa, which us currently controlled by US, how do I get my tank from Gibraltar to North Africa if I cannot offload land units into hostile territory? Do I have to take a circuitous route and go all the way around to invade from an adjacent German-controlled territory?
The NP tracker tracks your income. Â Think of it sort of like a salary, and the total is equal to the sum of the territory values for territories you control. Â When you start the game, you have that much cash in hand. Â You make purchases with the cash you have on hand, and there is really no need to track anything on paper unless you want to. Â You may choose to spend all or none of your cash on hand purchasing units. Â At the end of each nation’s turn, your “salary” may be adjusted based on territories that were taken or lost. Â At the end of your turn, you collect cash equal to your “salary”, which is added to any you have in reserve. Â The reason the rules mention tracking your cash balance with a separate sheet of paper is because the game doesn’t give you any “money” to do so. Â Try using Monopoly money or actual coins to help keep track.
In battles, each unit only fires once. Â Leaving aside any special rules like those for submarines, you roll once for each attacking unit (usually in ascending or descending order), and for each “hit” the defender chooses one casualty to place behind the casualty strip. Â The defender then rolls one die for each unit (including the ones behind the casualty strip). Â For each hit, the attacker removes a casualty. Â After each round, remove the defender’s casualties from behind the strip, then begin another round (unless the attacker chooses to retreat).
Each unit only fires once. Â There are exceptions in different versions of the game (like for anti-aircraft guns or strategic bombers), but in 1941 it is one and done.
Infantry yes, fighter no. Â Fighter can not land on a newly taken territory.
The rules for amphibious assaults (which is what you are describing) encompass quite a few lines in the rulebook and can be among the most difficult to grasp (even in this introductory version of the game). Â You can absolutely attack an occupied enemy territory by landing units from a transport, but there are a few rules about how to do it. Â I’d recommend rereading those rules and then come back here if you have additional questions. Â
Hope this helps. Â I am a relative beginner myself, so others will no doubt chime in to add/correct as necessary.
Cheers,
D
The last of the raiders will participate in anniversary events.
_At 101 years old, Dayton native Richard E. Cole is the last Doolittle Raider standing.
On Monday and Tuesday, he’s set for a homecoming of sorts to mark the 75th anniversary of the audacious raid commemorated in ceremonies and a World War II era B-25 bomber flyover at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
On April 18, 1942, 80 Army Air Forces airmen climbed into 16 B-25B Mitchell bombers in groups of five to fly off deck of the USS Hornet and travel across hundreds of miles of ocean to bomb Japan.
Cole was co-pilot to the raid leader, then Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, a legendary record-setting aviator._
Go Habs, beat the Rags!! Exciting Game 2 …
Maybe this is common knowledge here, but I hadn’t seen anyone mention it: Larry’s next game is apparently called “War Room”. People who attended an event last year at the Army War College apparently got a look at it:
The next Strategic Wargame Event is “Grand Strategy Formulation in WWI/WWII” using a commercial boardgame series, “Axis and Allies,” moderated by Mr. Larry Harris, on Wednesday, 25 May from 1400-2100 at the Army Heritage and Education Center (AHEC). This event will feature all of the major games in the Axis and Allies series and is open to the public. Mr. Harris will also debut “War Room,†a new game design currently in playtesting, during this event.

There are a few comments on the associated meetup page, but nothing that tells us how the game looked or played.

That was all that some medium-effort googling came up with. Would love to hear more from anyone that was there last May.
In my flurry of orders, I ended up with an extra set of FMG China Dice (D6). Free to a good home - PM me your address and I will send.
Go HABS!!!
I only say that because I am a diehard New York Islanders fan, and any team that plays the Rangers is my second favorite team.
Rough year for us. Rooting for the Caps to win it all (sorry YG).
Coastlines are done, all islands are accurate now, was crazy how much the OOB art was wrong… islands not even in the right shape… the one they did do right, was pointing the wrong way lol. Im pretty excited about this map, I hope to be done in a couple weeks, hard part is over.
in addition to the Europe/Africa resize, the islands were slightly enlarged… larger sea zones here and there… lots of stuff :)
Well, you can add cartography to your already considerable skills. :) Superb work and can’t wait to see the finished version!
That new battle board design is indeed sweet. I will be grabbing that and having it printed. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for also doing the leveled/clean map!
Ive been double checking the OOB design with actual coastlines, shapes etc, its pretty bad actually. Im about done redoing the entire board finally… anyway, one fix you should do (thinking off top my head) is fix iwo jima… its upside down… OOB its pointing toward japan, should be pointing down towards Philippines :) … there are more, I should make you a list.
Sired,
I am watching the board every day waiting to see your map. :-D The previews look intriguing!! I don’t have any custom maps, but I may have to get one when yours is done.
Cheers,
D
Siredblood,
That setup is phenomenal. I am jealous, as I have zero woodworking skills. :-D … and I have a real need for something portable due to temporary living arrangements (like yourself).
Have you used it with other iterations of the game (e.g., 1942SE, AA50), or do you just play Global or one of the component games?
BTW, your painting and the rest of your customizations are also amazing. True talent.
Cheers,
D

Welcome to the forums dajokr. Always cool to have new members. :-)
Thanks! Glad to be here. I got back into the game about a year ago. Bought all the current games, found a classic MB on eBay, and even picked up a few of the nice addons from HBG/IWNGU like IPC chips and dice. I was only able to play one game of global (tripping all over the rules the whole time) but it was a blast! I think I must have spend days watching Young Grasshopper’s videos on YouTube.
Took a life break to move to Japan (I’m a US Naval officer) and am starting to pick it back up again. Just bought a whole bunch of custom battle pieces from HBG and I’m looking for some playing partners. Also tracked down a VG copy of AA50 on eBay for a not-too-outrageous price, so I aim to get into that one too.
I’ve actually been playing 1941 solo the past few weeks, trying out different strategies and working my way back through the rules. I will soon move on to 1942SE and AA50.
All of the people on this board are extremely helpful, even with the questions that could have been answered by 17 seconds of reading the rule book. ;)
I have also enjoyed all of the customizations here. In particular, I have really appreciated the work of Young Grasshopper and Siredblood.
Looking forward to seeing everyone around.
