Since UK goes after Germany, I think this is a great strategy if Germany does not do the standard sea lion buy. I’m going to try it out myself. Good idea crazy name guy

RE: Minor Axis Army Piecesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Oh man I’m drooling already. This sounds like a great idea coach. Any idea on a time frame? Also, for the marine set how about instead of just doing 1 piece to represent marines, sneak in a little mini pacific oriented us set? A marine piece (or two), an amphibious sherman, a landing craft, and a corsair would be awesome. What do you think? Escort carriers are a great idea as well, you gotta make those. What about making advanced naval units like super subs, heavy battleships, or super carriers? PB Catalinas or another type of float plane is another good idea. I have to say, this really is the best time to be an axis and allies and fan.

Just don’t sell it and you will be fine

RE: Minor Axis Army Piecesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
WOTC detail is fine by me, all I’m looking for is a range of pieces in A&A scale so that those of us who want to can buy a ton of good looking pieces to play A&A with.

RE: Larry's new tank rules for Global 1940 Alpha Betaposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
OMG! I can’t believe you two are still going at it. I have two suggestions:
-
conduct this blood-fued via PM. I can’t speak for everyone, but I doubt anybody is reading all this.
-
play each other. 2 games simutaneously, with each of you getting a game as the axis and the allies. Now THAT would command peoples attention. Unless one of you fears your intellect will be exposed in this manor
I don’t mean to be rude, or to start a fight with anybody, but I have to agree here. Can you guys battle it out on a separate thread and leave this one for the purpose for which it was created, to discuss the new changes to tanks. It’s like two kids in a schoolyard.

RE: FMG Germany Set?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Ya if you want info on the progress just keep an eye on the FMG pieces project disscusion link in “other axis and allies variants”. It is an epic 2 year journey, but when they get here it will be worth it.

Apparently some got the email (like me) and some didn’t, but why is everyone posting that they didn’t get over and over?

RE: Attack value of strategic bombersposted in House Rules
Look, I agree with some of your points, but the fact is if strategic bombers were to be made realistically it would have no point. Only the UK and USA developed strategic bombers (unless you want to include Germany’s long range sea/recon bomber the Condor), so to make them entirely realistic would only allow two nations to buy and use them.
If you want to, think of it this way…
Fighters: Single engined air superiority fighters such as Spitfire, Mustang, Messerschmidt, Zero, etc. Used in A&A primarily for defense and mobility
Tactical Bombers: Single engined fighter/bombers such as Stuka’s, Val’s, SBD Dauntless, etc. Used in A&A primarily to attack in combined arms with fighters and tanks and for mobility
Strategic Bombers: Any heavy bomber, both strategic and tactical, 2 or 4 engine. Everything from a B-17 to a Heinkel. Used in A&A for mobility and all around attack.Your proposition, while historically accurate, would weaken the strategic bomber and render it useless. The unit as it is in A&A represents far more than simply a strategic bomber, consider it a misnomer, it is both a strategic and tactical bomber whereas tactical bombers are really fighter/destroyers or fighter/bombers.

RE: Minor Axis Army Piecesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Another question coach. In terms of color, will these pieces match WOTC pieces or FMG pieces? Personally I’d prefer you try to match WOTC colors. I know there has been some debate about this on the FMG pieces forum, but I feel most of us will use a mish-mash of all the pieces at our disposal.

RE: Minor Axis Army Piecesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
So basically you plan on doing sets for all nations that will have units not provided in the new FMG set? If so that sounds pretty awesome, a great way for all us fans to get our hands on the units we want! Keep the community posted as I am sure everyone will be more than eager to purchase your units. I must say, I’ve been playing A&A since I was a kid and this is the best time to be a fan. Thanks for the service to all us fans and best of luck.

RE: GB Tech Research Questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Well not give away, but a mechanism to share such as rolling for a targeted tech a nation has for 5 instead of 6. I know its not a real war but it seems silly that ANZAC can’t share with UK, Italy with Germany, and USA with UK or ANZAC. I don’t think it would be that big of an advantage, just a way for more minor powers to share with their bigger allies.
-
RE: Minor Axis Army Piecesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
First of all let me register my excitement and support of this project, new pieces are more than welcome! Second, my I suggest a tech/advanced/late war unit set? I think this would sell very well, I know I would buy it. Thirdly, what is the estimated time frame for this product? I only ask because I think the FMG project is going on year 2 now if I am correct, and it’s been something of a tease to say the least.

RE: GB Tech Research Questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Kirieghund, why can’t nations share tech? Almost all the nations in the game shared either techs or more advanced weapon types with their allies.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
I will take it from your response you have already chosen which type of units for the USA you are using. Just wondering if you could let us know what you went with. Thanks for the info.
Seconded!

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Will the new combat dice be complete at the same time?
-
RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Just curious FMG have you decided on what types of units you will use for USA and UK and if so more detail would be greatly appreciated. I wil be honest I look forward to these pieces more than I did any of Larry’s battle games(d-day,etc.) Thanks for the info and keeping us in the loop.
Dave
Agreed. Also my previous angry-about-delay post aside, I would be willing to do a pre-order for Germany in order to speed the process up for USA units if cash flow is a problem.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
So we’re now looking at late May or July for Italy and Germany? Any word on USA units?
