      Instead of a “Heavy Bomber” what about the Flying Wing Germany was developing?

      We already have a plain M4 Sherman IL, so what is wrong with having a late war model, the models that liberated Europe?  The US Army did the bulk of its fighting from 1943-1945, so I really don’t see your point in saying no 1944 models.  Here’s what I think of the lineup so far.

      Tank 1 – M10 tank Destroyer (Most produced Allied TD, but M18 would be a better choice as M10 was obsolete by the time it was used in Africa in 1942)
      Tank 2 – Sherman (Should be a late war 76mm model since we have an M4 already, not an M4A3 since it entered the war for 6 months but a M4A1 used form Tunisia on or a M4A1(76)W used from D-Day on)
      Transport – Liberty Ship (Fine but we already have it so I’d like an LCM-3 Higgins boat)
      SS – Narwhal Class (Fine)
      DD – Somers Class (Fine)
      CR – Wichita Class (Fine)
      CC – USS Enterprise (Would prefer the Essex class, definitely not Saratoga or Lexington, they were out of the war by 1943 and obsolete by 1941 anyhow)
      BB – Iowa Class (Fine)
      Bomber – B-24 Liberator (Great choice)
      Tac – TBM Avenger (Fine although we have a Pacific Tac already so I’d like to see the A-20 or better yet B-26)
      Truck – Standard Army (I’m assuming the GMC or Studebaker)
      Air Trans – Douglas C-47 Skytrain (Awesome)
      Fighter – F6F Hellcat (Great but a P-51 would be preferred)
      Artillery -  Undecided (Should go with M2A1 105mm Howitzer)
      Infantry 1 – Standard European theater Uniform – M1 Rifle (Fine)
      Infantry 2 – Airborne Uniform – Thompson (Fine)

      My questions are, 1) will there be a US mech inf?, and 2) what will it be?  I’d like to see an M3 or M2 half track, but a Jeep would work too since we have a US half track already.

      The M36 is a poor choice in my opinion, the M10 and M18 saw more action.  Id prefer either of those models to an M36.

    • RE: New sculpts for Marines Poll

      @coachofmany:

      I am trying to follow FMG, my first set is German/Italian then US marines, then US.
      I will sneak in a small set in-between his large sets.
      I am trying to supplement his sets as well as supplement OOB sets.
      I will keep the list on my website as current as I can with projection dates.

      I will poll on AAA.org for information, in fact I need to do a couple this weekend.

      Thanks

      Where can I find this info on your website?

      @Imperious:

      Do not be swayed to make exclusively early war models or you will not sell as many as you would like.

      Nobody said this. What was actually said was to make the most common unit that fought most of the time and avoid models that look like OOB. The other side if you read their posts just wants late war units which is extreme point of view. My point of view is most flexible, as some units may be early, mid, or late war.

      Because we are favoring the most common and unique look of the unit that saw the most actions in the war, this can be from any part of the war.

      P-51 midwar
      JU-87 early war
      Tiger tank late war
      Lexington early war
      Liberty ship midwar
      Kongo early war

      Don’t pick on my quotes IL, I’m not trying to start anything with you.  I do not advocate the Pershing, or any other dumb unit choices, read my posts.  I was trying to let FMG know that some people are not upset with his unit choices.  That’s all.

      @reloader-1:

      I really want FMG to match OOB colors.

      Otherwise, these might as well be xeno games pieces - I’ve never had a problem with the quality of the pieces, but the variety. I.e., give us more stuff!

      Agreed.  I’m waiting for OOB colors or something close to it.  I hope the Germany black units come out soon because I’m not that interested in buying the Gray units.

      Coach what are the unit line-ups going to be?  Will they be standardized and similar to FMG (ie 2 infantry, 2 tanks, 1 artillery, etc), or will they be case by case and dependent upon wht FMG is releasing?  Also do you plan to follow his release schedule (ie, Italy/Germany, USA, etc) or go your own route?

      FMG stick with the iconic units that will sell best.  The early war pieces can always be made later or supplemented by coachofmany.  Do not be swayed to make exclusively early war models or you will not sell as many as you would like.

      The Hellcat came in Guadalcanal and Anniversary.  1940 games come with the P38 and the Dauntless SBD.  I agree 100% on the carriers Dr. Larsen.

      @Bob_A_Mickelson:

      Sounds like a great list, but if its not too late I’d like to once again lobby for the P-51 D mustang; (and contrary to popular belief mustangs were assigned in both european and pacific theaters.)  In any case, thanks for the update. Keep up the excellent work FMG.

      Are you sure the P-51 was assigned to the Pacific?  I know the P-40 (flying tigers) was but I thought the P-51 was used exclusively in Europe.

      Awesome list FMG, thanks for the update!  I cannot wait until I can get my hands on this set.  For the Sherman, do you have a model in mind?  May I suggest the M4A3?  For the artillery I would suggest the M2-A1 105mm Howitzer.  I like the Hellcat, but what happened to the idea of the US having 2 fighters?  If that idea got nixed and you are going with only 1 fighter, I think a European theater fighter such as the P-51 or P-47 would be better suited seeing as the P-38 and Dauntless from WOTC and the TBM Avenger from your set were all primarily used in the Pacific.  Finally, I think your missing an opportunity with the transport.  WOTC has a liberty ship and although I know yours will have more detail and look better, I think an LCM-3 would be a welcome addition to anyone’s collection.  Just ideas though, no complaints here!  Thanks for posting the info, let us know when you have pictures!

    • RE: Historical Accuracy: British Bombers and Ukranie IC in Alpha2+

      Good point kcdzim.  You gotta remember Gallo Rojo that Axis and Allies is not a WWII simulator (buy Hearts of Iron 3 if thats what you want, great game).  If the game were totally historically accurate there would be no point in playing, the Allies would win every time.  The designers have to find that balance between historical accuracy and re playability, so that any game can go either way.  Otherwise you’d have to pay people to play as the Axis while you beat up on them.  That being said, check out Oztea’s 1941 set-up.  It’s more historically accurate in my opinion.  Or check out the 1939 map and setup on historicalboardgaming.com.

      @GoSanchez6:

      Fmg I don’t know if you have already decided on the UK sculpts just yet. If you haven’t I had a request. Since you are already doing 2 infantry sculpts. Do 1 English soldier designed for the Europe side of the conflict. It would be cool if he was wearing a beret like in a bridge too far. The other sculpt wearing more of what they wore in the south pacific. Not only would these pieces be nice eye candy but they could also be a way of differentiating the 2. You probably already thought of this but if you haven’t and it’s not too late it would be a nice touch.

      I agree.  Maybe one infantry sculpt can be a paratrooper/commando style infantry with a sten.  That would be cool.  Question about the ANZAC units FMG.  Are they going to be like WOTC in that they’ll be the same units as the Brits just in a different color?  Also, what color are they going to be because I know you’re doing the Germans in Grey first and the ANZAC WOTC pieces look gray to me.  And I know you’re sick of me asking but what units did you decide on for the US?
