Congrats to our PTV League Champion!!!

@crockett36 I’m totally fine with no trophies. I do enjoy some casual play. It would be fun to actually put faces to all the forum names. I also just miss actually rolling dice. I rarely actually bust out my boards anymore. I can’t wait for the kids to be old enough to battle lol

@Stucifer @gamerman01 It was a glorious weekend for sure. I was definitely nervous about playing PTV over the board, but it actually worked out quite well. Lots to keep track of, but immensely fun.

North Africa is such a glorious game. It is so much fun, we probably played like 8 games of Operation Torch over the weekend. Swapping countries every time.

@VictoryFirst Yes I am, I’ll set both games up and I’ll be the axis vs you if that’s okay. So I can get one game vs both sides.

@mikawagunichi @Matt-Hyra @Stucifer We played like 3 to 4 incomplete games with the wrong rules lol.

Then i think 2 games of Operation Torch with the correct ones. Allies won both, but it seemed like the Axis wouldve/couldve won the second game if managed better. The above referenced encirclement certainly didn’t help.

I think North Africa is my favorite edition, it’s so good.

I have only played 2 games, the first of which was an absolute slaughter by the soviets. This was to be expected though, as with most AAA games the axis generally lose until the proper strategies are “figured out”. Plus learning game mechanics is a huge part as this game is more unique.

The second game was much much closer, and the germans did win, but there was a relatively large misplay by the soviets (not realizing how operation Winter Storm works) and we had bad weather the first 4 rounds after operation Uranus was launched, so none of those new soviet planes could attack.

Time will certainly tell, but I definitely think the Germans are harder to play and have to blitzkrieg harder than you’ve ever blitzkrieg’d before.

I’ll play a game of PTV is anyone wants to battle.

@Matt-Hyra Yeah, we had a lot of rules learning to do, but we seem to know them now. I can’t wait for the next AAA weekend!

@FranceNeedsMorePower I don’t think so for a few reasons.

1. The axis generally have no issues with supply before Operation Uranus.
2. The Soviets get to build units immediately whereas the axis do not, so the more RPs the soviets get the more the axis have to deal with, eventually the axis forces will get whittled down to nothing.
3. The axis will need Operation Winter Storm to be effective to win. That comes from all the RP’s you get to bank during the game. If OWS doesn’t get going, is too small, too slow etc the game will probably end in a Soviet Victory.

@mr_stucifer Yes, and do you mind if we edit the AAA gun in scotland to UK? I forgot to move it

@PGsquig @AndrewAAGamer I think the units having different abilities and costs is what makes it so much more fun. The German 88 should be one of the best units in any game, and I absolutely love it. The Tiger being amazing is fun as well.

I enjoy the Italian units being weaker on average, and the matilda being slow. It is an absolute chef’s kiss.

@wizmark Yeah, that makes total sense. I will even ask sometimes like “are the AA guns supposed to be there” Those often get overlooked as they don’t move in combat obviously. I don’t want to ever win a game because my opponent misclicked or did something that’s an obvious blunder.

@trulpen In this regard I am referring to PTV. I’ve been playing Axis and Allies for like 15 years, and have just recently started playing this variant. I do feel like the Allies are heavily favored. My group has even started talking about using an Axis bid.

I do really enjoy PTV, but I also feel like it needs some balance tweaks, which is why I was asking how the Axis win in your games. Are they “real” victories or do they only happen when the Allies make a critical error?

I think in my playgroup we have around a 5% legitamate Axis win rate, in over 40 games. As opposed to the other global variants where the Axis win more than 50%. Especially when I’m playing them lol

@Stucifer I didn’t look at the math, I just loaded it up and saw France was blue and was like wtf. Idk what exactly, you sent, but kill everything but the tanks or something is an option. Germany wins with half the expected units or something. I’m also fine with a reroll. Whatever the league normally does.

Just played another game today, with what appears to be another resounding Allied Victory. I was the Allies and just went straight into the Med with both USA and England. Slaughtered Italy, and just annoyed Germany enough to keep their income down.

Eventually, the ipc’s spent in the pacific were just too much for Japan to keep up with. Japan started out super strong, but with the EruoAxis losing that fast it wasn’t the longest of games.

So, how do you propose the Axis defend themselves from an earlyish American assault in the med? This strategy has been almost impossible with deal with as the Axis, because if the entire Luftwaffe is parked in the Med, they obviously aren’t in the Motherland. Which sets Germany back there…Please help
