that is unrealestic. Germany would encircel a bunch of soviet units and they would either surrender or break out( and japan would never surrender if encircled BANZAI!!) . there is lways an option to break out. so i don’t really like this idea.

For me the site is moving slower. sometimes when i try to post a topic the computer just frezzes. IT has been really fast today but I never had the frezzing problems untill like a couple of weeks ago. but maybe its just my computer. thanks for keeping the website running smoothly though.

In the article it mentions this about the historical relevance of the battle and how they incorporated that into the game:

“Japan wanted the island chain as a place to launch air attacks on the US mainland. They also wanted to cut off the supply routes from Australia and the US. The US mostly wanted to stop Japan form achieving their goal, but establishing a foothold in the Solomons gave them a nice place to launch their Pacific operations closer to Asia.”

I have read before how the Japanese wanted to use the islands to separate Australia and the U.S. but, did Japan really want the islands to launch air strikes against the US mainland? Was that even feesable from Guadalcanal? That doesn’t make sense to me because isn’t Guadalcanal too far away to attack California isn’t it?

not nessary ly america mainland but if they tried to get too close then they’d be attacked. ( maybe mess with american merchants hawaiia, navy and other pacific islands occupied by america)

The counters are not too effective.

For instance, if America has 5 heavy bombers attacking you, even if your gun DOES get one or two, you’re still screwed.  Add to that submarines off your coast (Japan) and rockets and there’s absolutely nothing you can do but wait for them to invade.

That’s what makes it completely broken, instead of just way too powerful.  Anyone one economic would be okay, all three?

sending 5 bombers is totally inefective. lets say you have one die, thats 15 ipc loss. you did not bomb  anyterrtory for 15 ipc so you are taking a loss.

Refer to my comment about Nix. You were too agressive in the tourney game. It worked early because my Germany was getting some bad dice, but if you had used your Russian income to buy mass infantry with a small amount of offensive units instead of mostly armor and fighters you would have overrun me and I wouldn’t have been able to stop you.

I think what screwed Russia in that game was the Eastern Europe battle. I didn’t see teh 2 jap figthers there and then after i was told i pressed the attack agianst my better judgement.

This vet spent most of the day with his more important half (which also happens to be our dating anniversary… 5 years since Angel and I became ‘an item’ )  :-D

As for the “Observed” holiday yesterday… Well this vet works for a company that gives MLK as a holiday but not Veterans Day.  Go figure…  :roll:

actually, finland was the only country of both wars, theirs being after WWI, to pay back America for its loans.  they are still proud of this fact.

and in actuality, it was our money lent to the europeans during both wars, and it was never paid back.  they said their blood was payment enough.  but we didnt have to win their wars for them, pay us back.  look at the marshall plan to save much of europe from communism, even that wasnt paid back.

our debt should be solved this way.

the US not having to speak nazi and eat sasuages all the time is payment enough. Europe would of been a horrid place if we let germany win either of the world wars. We helped our allies survive against the crazy regimes that attacked them. thats what allies do. I would much rather rebuild London from being bombed rather than Washington and Paris brutally occupied instead of NEw york. but getting off topic.

so how do you think we should stop the US dollar from deflating? and also I know the pound is worth twice as strong as the dollar so does that mean the UK has twice as good of an economy?

I’ve been lossly folowing this conversatin too. but they are trying to build a calculator that only does it based on probabiblity. that way you get a “true odds” calculator.

if we were to make all countries went lent cash to in WWI and WWII pay us back, we’d have no debt.  we should b**** slap those europeans into paying us.  or else if we owe any of them money, just write it off as a non issue.

I think only Britian payed us back I  remeber hearing about it in the news like during the summer or something.
