hey i have triple a now. i want to try out a pbem game. should be lhtr. i don’t know how to set up a pbem game so you will have to show me. also i’m on no so does anyone want to go right now??? we can use frood for the bid.

I agree if they still had the carriers guadalcanal would of been an american lost. its the carriers that protected the japanese islands. But if your intreasted in the Pacific you might like Battle 360 on the History channel. its a series that follows the US carrier Enterprise thoughout the war. it literally was a apart of most major battles.

personally if i got a 11 ipc bid it would be 1 fig to Germany then 1 ipc to Japan. then i’d build 4 figs as Germany first round. it seems interesting to do.

it is only viable if you buy some baltic navy to support it. then you an united the fleet in the med and dominate Africa and southern Russia. or sneak into the UK if their gaurd is down. You basically have to plan for fleet unifaction to make it worthwhile.

they forgot a lot of them without haveing to strech. like all the english civil wars and the glorious revolution. and they forgot the war where more americans died than any other war. (also happens to be the second modern war) the Civil War. (what a creative name) Does the Hungarian Revolution count as one and all the other minor communist revolts. Does Italian Renuifaction count as a civil war. because it just this one dude going around and forcing others to join the great italian cause. but someone said something about Greece. they did have a civil war right after world war I i think.

yeah i think that happened after both wars. first the brits and the french were dividing up Turkey and the Russians and Americans created the coldwar.

the AI in these games are retarded. I wanted to get a feel for what the game was like and decided to be France. I kicked Germany out of the West and then pushed  into the mainland. then Italy surrounded Austria and I took the capital and the same happened in Turkey. the good old one two punch. but it was more like ME, Italy and Russia(who feel to Turkey) against the Central Powers. America and Britain never landed troops. I think there is something messed up with the navy units. also they AI has no concept of defending ones capital.

if any you guys played me you probably remembered that i was a pain in the ass to play with because I couldn’t download any aa programs because of my crappy computer. but i tried agian today (i got a new computer a few weeks ago) so now I have triplea. i’ve been trying to figure out how to use it. the varients seem cool yet confusing. anyone played the greatwar one? I feel like a kid lost in a giant candy factory. don’t know where to begin. but i’m going to figure my way around it. but does anyone on this site play any of the variants I want to try one out.

It avoid a counter on africa so can be better then a 8 ipc bid in africa (1inf,1arm)

Has anyone ever built a factory in the Ukraine on Germany Turn 1? The problem with the Eastern front has always been logistics. Why not a factory right next to the caucus? Please let me know what you think. I know this takes a lot of much needed troops away, but is it worth it?

You get all kindsa weird strats, and a lot of German strats get cooked up.  You oughta join the Caspian Sub Yahoo group.  Building a factory in the Ukraine is what I think they refer to as the Donut shop.  Or the Hot Dog Stand.  Or something like that.

I am of the opinion that you never want to build an industrial complex with Germany, barring extremely unusual circumstances.  If you build an industrial complex, that’s 15 IPC that you didn’t spend on infantry or tanks, and you probably want an AA gun there, which takes time to move up.  You then have an additional point that you need to defend.

If the Allies are landing in Western Europe or containing Germany in some other fashion, then you need units in the west anyways, in which case you’ll want tanks at Eastern Europe to defend Eastern Europe and threaten any Allied landing in Western Europe.  15 IPC is three less tanks you can use.

If the Allies aren’t landing at Western Europe or messing with Germany (i.e. killing Japan), then you have to crack Caucasus before Japan feels the pain, probably using S. Europe’s fleet starting G3-4 to support.  Once you crack the Caucasus, you have a 4 unit production center on Moscow’s doorstep.  So why not build an industrial complex then?  Because even then, you have a S. Europe battleship and transport; 16 IPC buys two more S. Europe transports that can drop right into any number of territories (Ukraine, Caucasus, Anglo-Egypt, Trans-Jordan), giving the Germans far more flexibility, and two fodder transports can help against light Allied air attacks on the Med fleet.

So what happens if the Allies didn’t land at Western Europe or land troops at Norway/Karelia, and built a big fat load of fighters, which can blow up the Med fleet?  Well, then, just build a hell of a lot of tanks with Germany, and bust Moscow in the face; Moscow can put up a spirited defense, but with Japs in the East and Germans from the west, you start seeing Axis tanks traded for Allied fighters, which just isn’t a good deal for the Allies.

agreed if Germany wants control of the channel is the only circumstance i can think of them building an IC. but why they would do that is good question. or if they sneak into Brazil but that rarely happens. ( when i say rarely I mean almost never) even if you owned egypt for good you wouldn’t want it there. you could just use your med fleet and build one more trn if it is really necessary.

Europe is the weakest of the ‘global’ games. The convoy zones make this interesting to me giving you a battle for the Atlantic aspect. You might call it a forced KGF without the Japanese squeeze.

Europe is good if you like making up your own variants like in 1939, or WWI or Napoleonic. most of the ones you could think off would go nicely with the Europe board.  could probably even do a Roman Republic version too.

it is risky and this is why most people play LHTR or no tech for this reason.
