Well, Italy WAS messed up pretty bad in the real war.

      United States for the Allies.

Reviving this a bit, I think that a 6 IPC bid is sufficent. Two infantry to Egy is often enough.

    • RE: 3 Key Allied Territories (Epl, Per, Novo)

While those two territories are essential, taking Germany is crucial, and often impossible. Facing off against Germany when simply nailing Japan is far easier. The Axis player is expecting you to go for his capital, especially with a Gbr to Kar via Nor/Fin, and US to Ita via Alg. I think that once you have Ger crippled, a 4inf/4arm Gbr shuck into Nwe/Pol is perfect, especially as US takes Africa, and threatens Ita. Once Italy falls, and she must fall to the US, holding Egy becomes key. Actually, I should say, TAKING egy becomes key. If you can move your fleet down into the Indian Ocean and force Japan onto her heels, the game is yours.

    • RE: Dealing With the Italian Fleet and Securing Africa

      @war:

While not having logged many Anniversary Edition games as of yet (about 7-8), I like the idea of using the U.S. to build an IC in Brazil on turn 1 and sending the destroyer and transport there as well. Upon T2 build 1 more transport in Brazil and you have 2 inf & 2 armor landing in Fre Eq Afr or Belg Congo from that point forward. That should be enough ground support to clean up Africa. At the same time buy bombers and additional naval units for a massive invasion force for either France, NW Europe or Morocco-Algeria. Use the bombers and fighters you have to attack the Italian/German navy then proceed with the invasion. My group is playing again this weekend (Sat 5-22) and I hope to draw the US so I can test this theory. Obviously this is a KIF strategy.

You say that you can have 2 inf/2 arm landing in lower Africa, but Brazil can only build 3 units. Most here, I’m sure, would agree that the best method is to simply move a T1 fleet off Africa coast in SZ12, combined with Gbr’s fleet, and begin to shuck in units.

    • RE: KISS AA50 Technologies Balanced (yet close to OOB)

This is good. I like it a lot. The heavy bombers, however, should be modified further, I feel.

Heavies shouldn’t be allowed into sea battles, and since they were bigger and flew higher, weren’t they more inaccurate?

It should be roll 2 dice at 3. Yes? No?

    • RE: 2011 Find League Opponents Here

All these '41 games… yikes! Looking at my record, I need to even up my '42 series. Looking for a 3 game series for '42. Tech is an option, I don’t mind either way.
PM me to start bidding. You may start the bid, auction style, or any way you prefer. I’m not picky. We’ll agree to a bid, then one will play Axis, and then the next game we’ll switch.

You can then decide who plays what for the third game, rebidding if deemed necessary.

PM with bid, or with questions.

      I’m ready when you are.

    • RE: Japanese IC, where?

If America leaves the Pacific, I’m often seen placing 3 IC’s, one in Bor, one in Sum, and one in Ind.

With 6 TP’s, 4@SZ35, 2@SZ49, I’m throwing 6 inf 1 art 4 arm at Russia per turn. That’s 42 IPC, but if I’m making that much before NO’s, why not? Russia can never withstand that force. Any extra IPC’s are spent on bombers at Japan, to be thrown across Asia to aid against Russia.

That’s if America leaves Japan alone, though.

    • RE: Jap Factories Revisited

You take Burma J2? Most people here will take Burma J1, and India J2.

A good Japanese player will take Kwa, Bur, Phi, Sum, Bor, and his pick of the Chinese territories, usually two or even three.
It’s not a question of if Japan becomes a monster, it’s when… and the sooner the better :P

    • RE: How useful are cruisers??

Aye, but with Italy, the safest fleet option is simply a plane turn 1, a carrier turn 2. Guaranteed to have the Allies looking more than twice at the Med.

To Cau, hmm? I think a bigger threat to the Axis would be Bulgaria. Two spaces away from either major industrial hub, a location to grant Russia a 10 IPC bonus, and really, can Germany set out to take their 7 IPC territory back (19, if you include the Allied imbalance of resources).

    • RE: 2011 Find League Opponents Here

      @Bardoly:

After not playing any Axis and Allies games for the last 3 months, I’m finally ready to get into the '41 2010 League, although I may only be able to post about 4 moves per game per week.

So, what I’m looking for is a 3-game series with 1 opponent, with the first 2 to be played either simultaneously or back-to-back (both are okay) with each player playing both the Axis and the Allies.  The third game to be started later.

I want to play with tech in all 3 games, but if I can’t get a tech opponent, then it’s negotiable.

I’m still out on a limb about the (supposed) Axis advantage in the '41 setup, but I don’t think that bid units to Europe/Africa helps game balance.  I think what I would rather do is have a 3 IPC Allied bid of 1 infantry unit to Asia.  As a gentleman’s agreement, the posssible locations for the 1 infantry are as follows:

      1)  1 Chinese infantry to any 1 of the 7 starting Chinese-controlled territories.
      2)  1 UK infantry to Persia, India, Burma, Kwangtung, or Australia.
      3)  1 Russian infantry to Novosibirsk, Urals, Evenki, Yakut, Stanovoj, Far East, or Buryatia.
      4)  1 US infantry to the Philippines, Wake, Midway, Hawaii, Alaska, or West US

If someone is interested in these terms, then please post a reply in this thread and PM me.

I will play against you, the first two simualtaneously. (I want your Axis moves first  :-P)
It would be best to wait until after the weekend, as I won’t be able to post from Friday afternoon until Monday afternoon, but if you wish to start immediately, then by all means!

You know, that actually makes a lot of sense. That’ll encourage each nation to pursue the technology they actually already had, but not have other nations go for them…
