    • RE: Worst A&A game?

      When they said that D-day had cards, I was expecting & hoping for something along the lines of the commander cards that you purchase in Risk 2210. Then, of course, you use them on your turn to your advantage.

      I agree that D-day is my least favored Axis & Allies game. When I bought it, I was expecting something along the lines of Risk 2210. Not the heavily scripted game that I got.

      One thing that I don’t understand is why AH/WOTC didn’t standardize the colors for each nation. For example, I have German pieces in three shades of gray as well as black pieces. Why couldn’t they pick a color & stay with it in all the games?

    • Axis & Allies: North Africa?

      I’m not sure if this is the proper forum to suggest a new A&A variant, but what would people think of a game that covered the Mediterranean/North Africa front. The game could support up to 6 players & would probably begin with the fall of France in 1940. I think this might allow a variable set-up because the players must first divide the French forces into either Free French or Vichy armies. So those are a couple of my thoughts on the subject. Any thoughts on this topic are welcomed.

      @Black:

      Germany
      Lutzow
      Graf Spee

      It should be noted that these are sister ships. The Lutzow(originally Deutschland) was the first in the class of panzerschiff (armored ship). She was followed by the Scheer & the Graf Spee

    • RE: Axis and Allies 50th Defending Aircraft Carriers

      DD is the naval abbreviation for a destroyer. To be accurate the abbreviation for an aircraft carrier is CV.

      If we do get our own run of pieces going, I would like to suggest that we mould a Pz. IV for the German tank. I dislike using the Panther because it didn’t show up until 1943. While the Pz. IV was in service from beginning to end in some variant.

    • Cruisers classes (USN & IJN)

      I was just curious as to what classes of cruiser did WotC use for A&A:G. Thanks!

    • RE: How to Use the German Airforce

      There are three things that need to happen to stymie the Allied fleets & potentially win the game.

      1) Use all your aircraft against the British fleet. Try to use aircraft in concert with subs or warships to help dismantle Allied shipping.

      2)Always build subs. The only way to keep the Allied navies in check is to maintain a large fleet of subs to quickly deal with any threats.

      3)Do Not attack Russia on G1. Force them to attack you & trade land for time as you ship units into the Mid-East to flank them from the South.

    • RE: Beating the Tank Stack

      @Rakeman:

      It’s pretty much a game of cat and mouse… the Russians must give ground until they are in a position where they can attack the vulnerable stack and win, or at least do enough damage so that most of the forces are destroyed.  If the German stack collapses, it’s game over, as the Germans put their eggs in one basket.

      I agree. But Germany can also use the same tactic against the Russians. By trading most of Eastern Europe & pumping units into Africa/Mid-East, they can effectively outflank the Russians.

      The Matilda was an infantry tank. While it did have good armor protection, it lacked both speed & firepower. It could only do about 15 mph & was armed with a little 2pdr gun that wouldn’t penetrate German armor.

    • RE: Plastic Playing Pieces

      Crazy question, why are the only unique Italian units their tanks & infantry? Why counldn’t Hasbro/Avalon Hill/Wizards Of The Coast come up with at least a few new units instead of recycling German & Japanese units? Second, what is the British tank in this game?

    • Piece storage

      Is it me, or is the piece storage in Revised horrible? I may be OCD, but I prefer to have my pieces in neatly organized trays so I can quickly & easily find the units I want. Any thoughts on the subject?

    • RE: Killing Fleets with Bombers

      @HolKann:

      As for Germany not building any fleet: bmrs are of no use against an U-boat-armada…

      I agree with HolKann, airpower is of no use against a sub fleet. As long as the subs are sinking Allied hulls you effectivly cripple the Allies ability to invade Europe.

    • RE: Questions about the playing pieces in Axis and Allies

      Don’t even bother trying to get pieces from Hasbro. They don’t care about us A&A players to offer part sets to us & when you ask they just give you the royal run-around. Sorry if I sound too bitter…

      I think its a new AA Europe.

      Noooo, I want the “Attack and looting of Sweden” game  :x

      Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Very Funny! But seriously, I would like Mr. Harris to correct the issues with the current game in production instead of implementing the needed changes on the next game. I really don’t want AA50 going down as one of the biggest jokes in A&A history.
