      It should be noted that Wrestling as WWF Presents IS theatre for entertainment, and not a sport, and that’s the difference.

      I don’t play with VC’s.  I play until one country falls, because once one country is gone its pretty much impossible for its ally(s) to still win.  The only time i continue a game after one country is out is if both sides take out a country at the same time.  Even then it usually will become obvious which side is going to eventually win within a few turns afterwards.

      Basically you keep going until all players agree how the game is going to end.

      @Imperious:

      Definitely the USS Missouri. About 1,000 yards away is the Arizona.

      Lastly, they got a military museum in Waikiki. Gift shop highly recommended

      Re-enlisted on the Arizona….nice, but too 70ish for me…if you can get on base, the Parche memorial, the Subbase Chapel, with meeting the subvets is pretty neat, and Punchbowl is always nice to go to…

      Alice is a chef and tries to make something new ever day. Which is annoying, because I get to like something and she never cooks it again!
      Last night she made profiteroles stuffed with pistachio flavoured creme pat.
      Have started eating lots of chick peas in tomato and chilli and mixed grains with grilled veg and a home made green pesto.

      I wonder how Douglas MacArthur would have phrased his answer if anyone had asked him to identify the greatest American general of all time.

      Axis:
      –Germany takes Egypt, knocks out much of the GB fleet
      –Japan takes out Hawaiian and Indian fleets and pushes through India, China, or Russia (usually 2 or all three, depending on circumstances of the game)

      Allies:
      –Russia tries to survive
      –GB tries to hold on to Africa while being a pain in the butt to the Germans
      –US- I’ve tried massing subs in the Pacific to immobilize Japan and bombing the crap out of the Germans. Those two strategies have tended to work well for me

      Fajita’s (especially Shrimp) are usu good at most Mexican buffets.

      Shrimp has become the main draw at all sorts of buffets.

      50-120 count shrimp are mass farmed from Vietnam / Thailand / China .

      Gulf Shrimp boats have to get the heavier meatier ones 12-30 count .

      There are also grain farmers here and offshore who farm freshwater prawns.

      Buffet shrimp of 50 + count are common at buffets I visit.

      Inflation adjusted , it is much cheaper to get shrimp than in the mid-80’s

      Only ever play 1 against 1 now. 1st played as a group when at University. Miss that, but I work evenings and so can only dream of a return to that. Am hoping to have some 1941 group games though.

      Cazzo!
      Sorry to hear that. I just joined the Italian one,  but have only introduced myself. Not much I can see to comment on. We all have gripes, but that is too much.
      I asked because you and the Sergente said you were from Palermo and I put 1 and 1 together…
      Thanks for the heads up.

      GHR2 - Please stop by the A&A area and introduce yourself to us - always love to meet new people.

      Sadly, last year the 1942 tournament was poorly attended - everyone was playing AA50 and there was a lot of G50 going on as well.

      Hopefully, this year, by using the new 1942 2nd Edition game, we can get more players involved. There are some great prizes available and I think though not perfect, the format provided works for most people.

      My name, as you might expect, is Mike and I look forward to meeting you!

      @Cmdr:

      I think more than 3 colors are a mistake.  Red White and Blue are perfect, they’re the three colors of the allies (England, Australia, France and America).

      Anything more becomes complicated.

      Hey Jen, I got these mini poker chips from a seller on eBay.  They don’t fit with the WOTC chips so I put the WOTC chips aside and use the new ones exclusively.  They come in tubes of 50.  I have 5 tubes of white (1) chips, 2-3 in red (5) and blue (10).  I also have 3 other colors:  Yellow (20), Green (50) and Black (100).  Only 1 tube each of those three and it is extremely rare that I have ever needed to use them.  Still, I like having them just in case.  Could you just imagine a tank piece on top of a black chip?

      I am tempted to check out Coach’s chips.  If they fit well with WOTC chips, I might consider changing my supply.

      @Plekto:

      …What you need to do is rob Germany of Africa and place the IC at a spot that can’t easily be taken out.
      The optimal place to put the IC is actually Egypt…
      But you will need U.S. support, so you might have to wait until turn 2 to place it unless the German med fleet is badly beaten…
      Russia can also of course send air cover for it if you decide to build it on turn 1.

      Do I understand correctly that you’re proposing reclaiming Africa from Germany, beating up the German Med fleet, and putting an IC in Anglo-Egypt by turn 2?  And that you’re proposing sending a Russian fighter to Anglo-Egypt on R1?  (Giving Germany slightly better odds on a two-territory R1 attack?)

      Response:  I pick up infantry and tank from Southern Europe, plus Libya infantry and tank, plus bomber, and probably 2 fighters.  This, versus infantry, tank, and two fighters.  My battleship must win versus your destroyer, but those are good odds.  You never get the Anglo-Egypt IC up, and I kill a precious Russian fighter, while keepipng most of or all of my air, probably leaving a tank ready to blitz through Africa.  Russian fighters are like gold in my opinion; they allow Russia to trade territories without committing ground forces to hold the territory (since the Germans usually take the territory right back, destroying any Russian forces there.)

      Sure, this means the UK battleship and transports may survive, but Russian fighters are SOLID GOLD IMHO.

      Alternative, I only have 1 fighter, and you overcommitted in Ukraine.  I still attack Anglo-Egypt, with slightly worse odds, but am compensated by obliterating Russian tanks in Ukraine.  This is an even better scenario for Germany.

      Last alternative, you undercommitted to a Ukraine attack, lucked out, and won big.  Which just goes to show that in war, it’s better to be lucky than smart/valorous/other adjective.

      I’m still curious as to how you intend to beat up the German Med fleet.  If Anglo-Egypt holds, yes, I can see the Indian fleet and the Anglo-Egypt fighter making a good case against the German Med fleet.  I just don’t think Anglo-Egypt should ever last past G1, though.

      @Black:

      What exactly is a KGF?  Does this mean you are going to try to kill off Germany first before Japan?

      KGF is an abbreviation for “Kill Germany First”.
      The strategy involves the USA not spending anything on the Pacific at all, but putting all into the Atlantic. Japan can roam freely in Asia, while the allies all go for Germany.
      In the end, it often develops into a race for Moscow vs. Berlin.

      It is a successful Allied strategy, hard to counter, and on top leads to rather short games, as a valued side effect.

      @Hobbes:

      @Nomarclegs:

      If the JP sub lives (two out three times it does) it will almost always submerge.

      Submarines can submerge before any combat if there are no enemy destroyers present. And the Jap sub should do it since there’s no point in defending with a 1 against an enemy submarine attacking at 2.

      Yup. This was unclear in the original rulebook, so many players were left in the dark. But it is clear that subs can always submerge before any combat, unless there is an enemy DD present. So the Jap sub will always live if it chooses so.
