      I like that. Thank you.

      LOL ask a Moderator to do that, or edit it out to a period.

      Here is a Colt 1911 that by its serial number traces back to 1917. It has GI sights and the grips have been replaced.

      Seems like a good place to put it.
      7 1/2 Brigades of Inf from NC, including the largest Confederate Brigade, Pettigrew’s, certainly shows the sacrifice your state made in those three days.
      You are right to be proud.
      Could have been another 5000 Inf if Lee had have got those fine Brigades of Cooke and Ransom.

      I didn’t notice Cromwell, otherwise I would have positived them.
      I hate people who negative posts regardless of the content.
      I am glad you are back too.

      Israel was/is a major ally of the US.  I find it exceedingly far fetched to think that the US would nuke Israel EVER under ANY circumstances.  Using nukes never de-escalates anything in my opinion.  I also find it hard to believe that the US would think the USSR would go total nuclear over Egypt when the US had an overwhelming nuclear advantage and MAD ensured nobody would win.  I would think aerial overflights would work better for sigint and targeting than a navy ship for land based targets.  Besides, Israel is called a ‘one nuke state’ not because it only has one (it has about 150 now) but because one good sized nuke takes Israel off the map as far as a nation.  You don’t need that accurate of targeting if you plan to kill Israel in order to prevent the Russians from committing suicide by going all out in a nuke war.

      That removes any motive in that regard.  I really can’t see any other plausible reason.  Mistakes do happen.  The US took out a civilian liner coming out of Libya.  I think it more likely than not that in that case it was a mistake.

      Occams razor.  On the other hand Cromwell, I would be interested in what sources you could cite to support your premesis or about the lack of support for the ship by Johnson.

      I’m not sure how NATO could have been involved.  It would require a NATO country to be attacked directly.  I think the only time NATO was actually called into action was for 9/11.  Blame the French for Vietnam, it’s easier that way!

      @Mallery29:

      Can I replace the post its guy with “The Dude”?

      @Guerrilla:

      Fair enough… That makes sense. I think the thread can count for either topic heading, they are well within the same range.

      In that case, some of my favorite books are Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy and The Hobbit.

      My brother fought under his command, clearing paths through the minefields. I was only 11 years old but I remember Schwarzkopf had the look of a General.

      Sometimes linking two issues tightly might not be the ‘most right’ way to look at things.  Honoring the war dead is an issue.  Flying the Confederate flag is also an issue but they are not the same issue.  The problem is the Confederate flag means different things to different people and those ‘things’ are often diametrically opposed.  Perhaps the two things ought to be slightly de-linked?  Just saying……

      That would be good for laughs…especially since it was you that started with something about a “man sitting in a chair shaking his fists in the air”

      That would explain your unwarranted hostility towards me.  I was actually comparing you to Clint Eastwood, do you find that…that offensive?  If so I could compare you to a troll if that is more to your liking?

      That’s review what I actually said and not what you heard me say for whatever reason.  I said:
      Quote
      Somehow I get this image of an old crusty white guy arguing with a chair and shaking his fists in the air…

      If you would recall the image of Clint Eastwood arguing with a chair…that was the mental imagery I was trying to convey about a fictitious person saying Martin Luther King was Riff Raff.  I don’t mean to imply I think Clint Eastwood would say that about MLK, just the mental imagery he presented in that weird episode on stage with him and the empty chair.  Moreover, I don’t know what you look like nor anything about you so even if I was attacking you IL, it could not be personal in the way you are attacking me.  And you are attacking me personally and not my ideas on this forum.  What kind of liaison does that?

      The proper usage of the word “Riff Raff” applies to people, not days.  Ergo it would be reasonable to think you were implying MLK was Riff Raff.  If that was the case then yes, you would remind me of an old crusty white guy shaking his fist at the changing world.

      So back again to your incorrect usage of the English language and your unwarranted personal attacks on me based on my appearance of my photo which you in-correctly assumed showed a fat wife beating white guy driving a pickup truck.

      I explained my thinking and reasoning on my comments.  I would appreciate hearing from you why you felt the need to resort to personal attacks based on appearance?

      Doth protest too much
