@aequitas-et-veritas to war college a game would be to lay out our plans ahead of time, in secret. play the game, posting it here.

We would then let the community examine how the plans were executed and where the principles that guided our strategies were either misapplied or misguided. On the other hand, it would be an opportunity for an affirmation of guile, tactical and strategic success, along with a recognition of the roll of luck in determining outcomes.

Hopefully this would help train players for the times when they are drawing cards and pull out USA. No pressure. I know it’s asking a lot. That’s why I’m playing against myself and posting my allied playbook.

well said weddingsinger. the market place of ideas is the besting shopping mall of all. someone somewhere said “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” if you examine the priority of my us playbook, you will see that I prioritize the Atlantic. My concern in the Pacific is singular: the defense of Honolulu. So those planes are super precious to me. I did what I did this turn to garrison the island. I will resupply with a plane per turn until satisfied it is impregnable.

I really don’t know what better things i would be doing with the cruiser or the air. the air could help garrison Yunnan? the cruiser is currently steaming toward the Med to reinforce Naval superiority. that’s why it didn’t take a potshot into Iraq?

I see most players stacking Egypt or Yunnan. My troops will be there when the time comes. Though as discussed before, I will not value other cities over the needs of Moscow, in her hour of need. And I surmise that I cannot keep all five of the previously mentioned cities if the enemy is determined to take any but Moscow.

I wonder what the win ratio is: Axis:Allies–even with bids, even with different versions.

As for the positives. I control sz6. I made Japan purchase navy. I made Japan purchase air force. I am not kidding to say that those are goals of mine. J still has only two factories. CALCUTTA is safe for two rounds at least. Probably 3. Sidney cannot be taken before round 6. Mostly likely never if they just build 3/turn.

The J army north is exposed and can be taken by an air raid. The Japanese in China are spread out and can be raided by the many US and British air forces.

I can still sb Japan. OOB rules for scrambling make it just as dangerous to scramble for the fighters as for the bombers. With Korea in hand I could station my figs there escort. 20 ipc per turn. We can start this turn if we want to risk my carrier.

I don’t get the Yunnan thing. As China and/or the English I’m going to whack that every time and succeed. Is it bloodletting?

If Japan has China, the Middle East and perhaps much of the Soviet Far East and yet the Allies have control of much of Europe, who will win the game? Have you just reset the game to a struggle between East and West or won the game in extra innings?
