      I wish the game would allow games with more than two players online and G40 would also be cool. Sadly the developer does not reply to email and seems not to work anymore on the game.

      At least if they do that the UK can take some extra IPC and what not, thus being better suited to take on germany.

      Right.  But the problem we get into then is, there would have been a fighter screen inbetween the ships and the incoming British planes.   SO, to make this work correctly, you have to have an air battle, then if any remaining British planes survived they could carry on to attack the ships.    problem is, which fighters roll at a 3 and which roll at a 4?   I would argue the German planes are defending, and get the 4.    This would be a huge mess as if your fighter cover for your defending bombers which are actually attacking were shot down, then the German defending fighters would have to battle against the attacking bombers.

      Further, this game waters down air units into 3 categories (up from 2, granted) but all the planes are in the swarm.   This is a game.   IRL, Spitfires would not be attacking the surface ships.  Mosquito variants (about 25+ which could attack, not counting recon/trainers) could do this, but then which do you have?   When you buy that tac bomber, is it a Fighter/Fighter-Bomber/Torpedo-Bomber/Bomber?

      The game is dumbed down a bit in this, and we have to deal with it.   Stukas and Vals shouldn’t be 3/3s.   Mitchells weren’t going to be taking down Zeros.  Oh well.

      Stack em up, roll them all at once, and in an Allied heavy game please don’t give the UK the ability to scramble from the home island.

      @Flashman:

      Because the Irish people supported Britain.

      The government was not so keen, hence they didn’t join the war and claim the North as their reward.

      Another example of the arbitrary assignment of neutral leanings, almost all of which can be questioned.

      I like the idea of a set of cards, one for each neutral.  One of these is picked up by each player on finishing his turn until all are collected.  The player can reveal a card at any time to assign “pro” status to that neutral. If an unassigned neutral is attacked it joins the opposing alliance in the usual way.

      Maybe a couple of “joker” cards can be included, which allow a player to stage a coup on a revealed but unoccupied neutral thus reversing the alignment.

      Then make Spain or something pro-axis.

      @cond1024:

      Transports are a much better value now than what they were in classic, when they cost 8 IPC and could only transport 1 tank or 2 inf.

      Yes but back in those days transports could absorb hits and defend @1 (I love how they work now BTW). I just think for a unit that can be so easily lost, and most nations (Japan/ANZAC/US) need them desperately, they should be cheaper, even just 6 IPC. Compared to the attack value to cost ratio all other units have trannies should be more like 5-6 IPC each.

      Its worth getting cause when AAE40 comes out you will want both to play the combined game.  Also the introduction of new rules and units (convoys, declaration of war, air base, naval base, tactical bomber, mechanized infantry) make the game far more enjoyable and adds more depth and breadth to the series, further setting it apart from other board games.

      @Cuyahoga:

      I see…

      Now say that UK takes all their 34 IPC…

      Then say the next German turn…they have no IPC on paper…so the don’t buy any new forces…they do their
      combat turn…they take back Berlin…they move their IPC marker back up from 24 to 34…then they collect IPC…they record on paper they have 34 IPC ( which they hope they will have to spend on next turn).

      Then the UK does their turn and they retake Berlin again…so are you saying once again they grab those 34 IPC ?

      If that is so…wouldn’t Germany be digging them in a big hole as far as UK amassing a huge ammount of IPC?

      This seems an unfair rule?

      Am i still missing something?

      opps , i made an error…when i said that on Germany’s first turn after losing their capital…that thay had no IPC on paper and thus could buy no new forces…that was an error on my part…because they can’t buy new forces when their capitalis occupied by the enemy…

      @cressman8064:

      I know after the first round the game can vary, I was just tired of the Japs killing the Hawaiian Island fleet every first round and having the same pieces to work with, just an alternate set-up would perhaps make the game feel fresh and even more fun setting up the game. I know everyone on this website will hate me saying this but setting up RISK is more exciting with the random assignment of territories, each game is completely different.

      This version is only a few months old and it has all new naval pricing, a new boat, different initial naval set ups,  new BR rules, cheaper bombers. Those changes alone make it radically different than revised. Add in the dice roles and you have no idea what round two is going to look like.
