:x
OK, I registered, and tried to play a couple of solitaire games.
It was very annoyingly slow, except for the darn “turn timer”! I don’t care for time limits to start with, but the longest option there is very short IMHO.
The die server takes forever, almost nodded off to sleep there a couple of times waiting for it to display the die roll results. And there is no Low Luck option either. I was unable to figure out how to get the tanks to Blitz then attack another territory, it just would not work simply by moving the unit through the empty territory then into the occupied territory.
Loading and unloading the transports requires an additional step in a side box, very time consuming when your on the darn clock!
Well, if they fix these problems I’ll be glad to play on their site, but for now, I’ll stick with TripleA, it is just a smoother gaming experience.

:-o
This is all just crazy talk!
Any fool Russian player that builds an AC and a sub in the Baltic just signed his own death warrent! Occasionally, I may only build a sub to deter that BB shot on G1,( depending on who I am playing) but an AC is begging for a Panzer dash.
IMHO, Just not good economics for Russia. -

Zero Pilot,
Way too cool!
You better not show anyone else how you did that though, cuz it will be everywhere. And that would just be too much coolness for this site. We need to maintain some lower coolness standards or there will be all kinds of people just cruzin our threads looking for only coolness and not good advice on how to play a better game of AA.
But I gave you a +1 Karma too.

OK then, let’s start a new thread on playing with NAs’. I think it has been talked about before to some extent, but have there been any real effort to playtesting them? :? -

:-)
Yes of course, one must always consider the experience level of their opponent/s.
But, in a tournyment or league game, You better not play anything less than 8 for the Axis, if you want to have a good shot at winning.
New players generally won’t get into tourneys or league games by themselves, too many good players there, and not much fun to get wipped out early.
Team play is another story, as experienced players teaming up with COOPERATIVE newer players can guide them through good strategies. Best way to learn IMHO.
And that goes back to the COMFORT ZONE I referred to, I will play “0” bid against newbies as thew Axis, but I insist that they take 9IPC if they want to play the Axis.
I do it all the time on line and when teaching new players here at home.
So, bid or no bid, Happy Gaming! -

Since I have never played OOB rules, and probibly never will, this thread does not apply to me.
Anyone else out there play only OOB?
Noobs need not reply, you probibly haven’t heard yet that the box set rules suck! And that LHR have superceded the box rules for commited players. :x
Really, what a lot of wasted time has been spent with this scenario thread, from players who will never play strictly with the OOB rules.
Now do something more important, like dusting off your computer or taking out that pile of trash by your desk.
I should really negative karma everyone on this thread!
Consider this diatribe a one time warning, don’t waste time with unreasonable things, life is too damn short for such things. Be productive with positive thoughts that will benifit yourself and others.
Now go play a game, make love to your one and only, or something that has meaning.
Peace

:-o
All Speculations aside, If it doesn’t work for us, we will change it to what we do like, eventually :wink:As far as the bid system goes, that has always been a good way to pick sides. removes the arguement potential about who gets to play what.
OoP;
Germany
Russia
Italy
UK
Japan
USA
This seems like the least painful way to insert Italy, due to Germany / Russia switch. The Italins can still reinforce the German advances and do ther usual thing in Egypt.
And Uk can still get to mess with Japan, which I personnly don’t like, but UK can only do one of two important thigs, retake Egypt or attack Japans fleet.
Japans holdings will be less than revised, as US will still hold the Phillipines and other Islands, wake, Solomans, etc… And Uk will hold New Gunia and Borneo.
Map changes should include:
the Alution Islands of Alaska being two seperate areas, as fighting did take place there, granted not critical, but the Japanese there could not have been ignored either.
Japan, Australia, India, and even Egypt-Sudan should be 2 areas.
Greater China should be 3 areas.
Capitals should be circle territories within their greater territory. Once the greater territory is captured, the Capital is limited to only a certain amount of Infantry reinforcements, let’s say for arguments sake, 4 Infantry. Capitals are also not blitzable. As in Classic, “special small territories” World edge boxes can be used to hold the extra capital troops.
And I like a “Buy and placement phase” prior to the first player going, where everyone makes their buys at the same time, and then places their buys at their ICs’, like in Samurii swords. This may have to be done in sequence in a on line game, but not a big progaming problem. PBEM is another ball of wax altogether, Hmmm, anyone got any ideas there.
And if paratroops and Marines and Guards units, and super-tanks and such can be added, all the better! :-D
Well, that is my wish list, What’s yours? -
RE: Which side has an advantage?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition

What we are seeing is a comfort zone, so to speak, with playing the Axis against more experienced allied players, (and we must assume that our opponents are experienced). At tripleA 9 IPC has been the required bid for all their ladder games, and as static as that may sound, it gives everyone the same balance irregardless of their experience level. Some may say that that is too high, but the wins vs losses show that that has been a very good balance point. One unit /territory is the only restriction. 3 extra Infantry in the Ukraine would be very tough for the Russians right off the bat!
On live play I will go lower, if nothing more than to give my opponent a better fighting chance, unless I know that they are a good or expert player. :wink:So my bid usually starts at 12 and goes down to my comfort zone, of 8 or 9.

RE: Determine a winnerposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Individual winner in multi-play does make for bad team play. I suggest that you have a series of games, where the team members change sides. At the end of the series, each player shows the number of times that they were on the winning team. The payer wit hthe highest # of wins will be the best TEAM player.
Stay tuned for a TEAM tourneyment coming soon1 I will be hosting in the TripeA site.
Good luck with yur team play. :-D -

I got green german Inf and grey US inf in an AA box once, probibly my 3rd set. So I got out my model paints to fix the problem. When I finally finished I had three games worth of all painted miniatures!
I was tired of my infantry always falling over so I mounted them on pennies, glued sand on the bases, (and top of the penny) painted the sand and the edge of the penny to match the nationality and they fit very nicely on top of the chip stacks!
I did most of my painting while actually playing games of AA, so no wasted time, fun and production all at the same time.
I have had several offers to sell one of my painted sets, but no one has offered me what I think it is worth. so I take them to tourneys and Wow the players with my cool figures, (not great playing, unfortunately. Seems that great painted figs don’t fool the luck of the rolls either :-P).
Anyway, they are much more fun to play with, and only a few pieces, mostly the aircraft need some touchup. If you plan plan on painting your figs, be sure to wash them in hot, not boiling water before you spray on a light coat of primer as oil is on them from the molding process as well as from playing with them. Get good figure paints and brushes. Avoid using shinny paints, except for the aircraft windows.

For tourneyment play, I like the sudden death victory conditions that are in Risk.
Each player secretly draws a sudden death victory condition card for there country, let’s say their are five for each country for arguements sake.
The first player to achieve their victory conditions, wins. No chance for their opponent to break them, with one more player turn, it is over, period. The winner moves on to the next round, and the loser, goes to find another game to play. -

RE: Fighters defending on a threeposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Would the cost of the fighters also be reduced? say to 7 IPC? That should keep them as a viable purchase, due to the greater movement capability over tanks. As it is, I rarely invest in fighters in my games due to the high cost. :-P
