    • RE: Infantry

      :-)
      OK, I just played and won a game as Axis where I only bought 2 tanks, late in the game. All oother purchases were Infantry and Artillery, about 80/20 ratio.
      He built heavy bombers! about 5 of them, and raped my German industry! I only shot down one of those bast**ds.
      Now I did by about 30 tanks for Japan, and they finally took Russia.
      I confess, I did build 2 armor for Germany, and about a dozen Artillery, and wasted 30 german IPC on tech, and got nothing  :cry: that was 10 infantry that I could have had. But, I still won without them.
      So, anyone out there want to see if it was a valid strat?
      Perhaps I was just lucky. Not my die rolls anyway.  :roll:

      I think, that it is possible to win without buying any armor at all.

      I won’t give anybody more than 12 points of a pre-bid, (full placement). Other than that, I’m not afraid to play anybody. :-)

    • RE: British counterattack in EGY on UK1

      Because the Germans have a fighter and a bomber within range of the UK bomber I usually land it together with the UK fighter in the horn of Africa, Italian East Africa.(Etheopia). This way the bomber can help the Indian army to attack French Indo China on UK2. :wink:

    • RE: Allied counter to German fleet-unification

      I’ve tried placing the Prebid transport in sz50 and with the Borneo fleet further west, and they do have some good targets, but the advantage of taking Hawaii on J1 means that Japan has eliminated 3 USA fighter planes, (I suspect that the China attack is successful too) 4 infantry, and reduced them by 3 IPC! Most likely for some time to come. Also, Japan now has a bomber base within reach of the west coast, and a staging point for invasion of not only the west coast but Austalia, NZ, Alaska, West Canada, and Mexico! If Japan stages two Transports, and a DD and a fully loaded carrier at Hawaii, the USA player must defend at a minimum, the West Coast, and probibly Alaska as well.
      These resources are delayed a turn going to Europe, that is an extra turn that Germany has to turn up the heat on Russia, and probibly expand in Africa. All for the price of a prebuilt Transport to Japan, who IMO, needs it more than Germany anyway.  :wink:
      And what is my J1 purchase you ask, why 2 transports, 2 tanks and an Artillery. Just make sure that the transports are out of range of the UK sub, their DD, and that sneaky bomber of theirs somewhere in Russia or Novo or the Caucuses. sneaky #&+* UK  :evil:

      Jennifer says;
      “I’ve played the Axis with an 8 IPC bid for a transport in SZ 50 before.  That was an interesting game! (3 Inf, Arm, Fig to Hawaii, 3 fig, bmb, dd, ss, 2 trn, bb, ac to SZ 52 and 7 inf, 2 fig to China on Round 1!)”

      I have been doing this quite a lot lately myself, except I put the transport in sea zone 60, just east of Japan with the BB and the other transport. I then pull the artillery, tank and 2 Inf out of Japan with the fighter in Japan, together with every surface ship that can reach Hawaii and at least one more fighter from the other Carrier, (which has to go to the Solomons to pick up 2 fighters)  so that when playing Low Luck it is a sure thing to take Hawaii on J1. One fighter can support the attack on the island. :wink:

      Oh well yes for sure!
      The seaplanes on  the deck of the sub would most certainly be sunk by the underwater super secret FlaK guns!
      I mean that is what they were designed to do don’t you know. :-P

        Can’t you just hear the train conductor giving a notice to the pasengers before it left the Station;
      Ladies and gentlemen, welcome on board the Toyko express! Railroad directive 34 requires that you keep your bags stowed under your seat for the duration of our trip. The window black-out curtains are to be kept closed for the duration of the war, so please do not touch them. Additionally, If the train is torpedoed by some crazy Allied submarime, you may tear out your bench seats to use as a makeshift floatation device.
      Now relax and have a pleasant trip. Long live the Emperor!

    • RE: Rocket Strike and Strategic Bombing Question

      :-D
      In the movie; Battle of the Bulge, there is a scene where the german generals are discussing this story about the chocolate cake, still very fresh, ( I think they may have actually eaten it) and saying if the Americans have ample resources to spend on shipping cake to their soldiers then we are lost. Something to that effect anyway.
      Another story, off topic, sorta, is that some bomber crews were talking about all the different kinds of ordanance that we were dropping on germany, and one crewman said, “We’ve dropped everything but the kitchen sink!” So on the next mission, you guessed it, they brought along a kitchen sink and threw it out one of the side gun windows during Bombs Away! :roll:

      Did it actually sink the train? Or was it using its’ deck gun to blast it as it went by the coast?
      I’ll have to look that one up later.
      Also, I saw a sub blow up a truck parked on a beach with a torpedo in an old WWII movie. Not sure if that really happened or not but it probibly did. They didn’t have to make up corny stuff back in the old days, it just happened naturally.  :-P

      Well now, what if a submarine sank the transport with the AA gun as cargo, but got too close and all that AA ammo went off and then the sub got hit and wouldn’t it just sink that Sub?  :| I would think so. :-P

      Sooner or later they die,(the baltic fleet) they just all die, so why sink, ( pun intended ) more resources in there for nothing?
      I mean, what is germanys’ main goal?
      You had better say; “ToTake out Russia!”
      Now how does an aircraft carrier in the Baltic on G1 help you to accomplish that?

      On another note, I not sure what Dreck means, but it sure was funny the way No Love used it on what Bunnies P Wrath posted  :lol: so +1 Karma to No Love :-D
