      :-D
      ALASKA
the only US State I have not been in. I plan on visiting one day soon, but in the summer only.
The state bird is the mosquito! some have wigspans of 3 feet!
Can drain a mans blood in 5 seconds!
                                :-D
Here is a true story as related to me by I nurse I dated once.
She spent one winter in Juneau, the capital. She was wrking 4 four blocks from where she rented an apartment, ( a flat for you Britts) but she had to rent a car to be able to get to work or she would have frozen to death trying to walk that far!
Her first day of work she went out to her car and found a Moose laying across the hood! with some effort and a whole lot of courage that I doubt I would have had she managed to get the huge beast off the car and got to work. The good side to this was that she didn’t have to clean the windshield or pre-warm the engine!
This went on for weeks, as the moose had some kind of an attraction or affection for her car.
Other than that, she said it was very boring, and the only thing to do was to go to bars and hang out with smelly Alaskans!  :-P
Unless all you want to do is hide away in a cabin in the woods, go hunting and fishing everyday and be pretty much alone, (except for a few other smelly Alaskans) I’d say it is a grat place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

      :-)
Greetings and my most heartfelt Christ Mass wishes for one and all!  :-D
Tree or no tree, it is the celibration of the birth of the Son of God that we must remember, and be thankful for. All else is comercial profiteering.
It is the side show that has overshadowed the main event, much like the circus has taken over the events from the old Gladiator and Knights tourneyments of the past.
As long as we remember why he came, to save us from our sins,(read, John 3:16) all else is just frilly shiney wrappings on the joy of our salvation!

I pray for Peace and Gods Will in you and your loved ones, to the ending of the world, and beyond.
        Respectfully,

The Geneva convention forbids the killing of prisoners and unarmed civiians. Germany was a signer of the convention. Japan was not.
IMHO, German troops that defied these accords should have recieved the full measure of the law. **Period **I am a veteran of war, and until you stand in the midst of a mass slaughter, as I have, You cannot begin to understand how revolting such a crime that is. It is totally preventable by having people in charge that have a speck of human decency in them.

As for me, I take each individual on their own merits. I do not hold a nation responsible for what some of their citizens have done.
I too am from German stock. I’ve lived there 3 years and had many childhood friends and fond memories.
But the victims of the ultmate betrayal, murder of the defenseless, cry out still for Justice. That is all they have left to recieve, in this world, or the next.

    • IC in Western Europe on G1 !

      :-o
OK, it sounds radical, but here is my theroy:
With an IC in W.E., Germany can launch ships and quickly build defensive forces on its’ western front.
My main goal is to be able to put subs in the english channel and the western Med to prevent allied transports from picking up units from England in the channel and north Africa from the western Med. I’ve play tested this on line, and though a bit costly, it seems to confound the allies very well. They are forced to build expensive capital ships, and planes to deal with it, all more costly than my subs.
The downside is, Germany is slow to put the pressure on Russia, not a good thing, but Japan seems to get less pressure, due to more effort requied in the European theatre, so they advance with little resistance.
I only ask that you try this out before commenting, because there is nothing like experience to back up a theory.

A very Merry Christmas All  :-)

      Gewahr’
I lived in Germany for three years back in the late 60s. And I can tell you that neither I nor anyone else I knew there ever experienced anything but love and respect from the german people.
This is the first that I have heard about germans being prejudiced against all Americans. Certainly the Jews, and perhaps even the Black Americans, (of which the artillary crews who were massacured were all black US Army).
Now I am of the belief that these SS troops served on the Eastern front where far worse and larger scale atrocities were committed by SS units. Perhaps they were just conducting business as usual.
In any event, They should have recieved what they dished out for surrendering, and not fighting to the death as they swore in their oaths.

      A very moving article.
War is not an excuse for unnecissary murder of men, women, and children that pose no immediate threat.
War is certainly a risk for everyone, but utter barbarianism against defensless people is unexcusable!
I feel the guilty persons should have been hanged right after their sentencing.

    • RE: Axis Road to Economic Parity - Unlikely

Japan certainly has to do a lot very quickly to help the cause, ( Axis Parity). That means they have to have enough transports to reach all the critical targets.
I have had good results with the bid buy going to Japan for the sole purpose of getting an early transport. I use it with the transport in Japan to invade Hawaii on J1!
Then it’s off to Australia and NZ on J2. USA will have to build heavy in L.A. on USA1, (which is good for Germany). I’ve also gone to Brazil on J3 with one tp and caused the USA to divert it’s Africa shuck for a couple of turns. IMHO every little bit helps. I usually build up to 8 transports. It keeps the USA looking over their shoulder, waiting for me to shift gears back over the pond. :-o

    • RE: AAR LL Game Challenge

So Jennifer, it is probibly more of a matter of trust in the server than a problem with your machine? I know just how you feel. It is hard sometimes to go outside our comfort zone. And something different is not always better. I for one have few complaints with Triple A, the ladder or how the program works, although today I did have it freeze on me during a roll, (had to restart my computer to get out of it). Nothing is perfect, right?

Back to topic; I prefer LL for the mere fact that the regular dice are more often than not, unkind to me, causing much frustration. I know that I play a better game than my track record shows, and since I’ve begun playing LL it has been a lot less frustrating for me. I win more often, and even the games I’ve lost have not been one sided crushing defeats in 6 rounds. I will play AAR for fun, or to give a newbe a better chance to beat me, but not a serious game against a master Obewon Jedi AA player. I prefer to match wits, not the luck of the die rolls, for that, we can play Craps

    • RE: UK Austrailian IC - making UK relevant

Since you are in fact surrendering India and Persia to Japan and Africa to Germany you may as well pull 2 Inf from India to Australia and the 1 inf from NZ. So, with 3 transports full of inf in Australia you should build at least one tp on UK2. And perhaps a sub to pair up with the one that spared the attack on the jap sub in round one, ( I’ll bet the US is still smarting from that). Or at least a fighter to put on that little carrier, perhaps the US plane from Hawaii will land there for ya, or perhaps  not.
Certainly, this strat will put a small drain on the UK economy, only 2 units after all, so they should be able to threaten Europe by round 5 or so.
My guess is that the Japanese player will stop at nothing to capture Australia ASAP. I certainly would. I’d hit pearl light, (that sub will certainly help out ) or, not at all!
and all my fleet and air would stage to hit Australia by J2, J3 at the latest. Let’s see, that is 6 fighters, a bomber, 2 BB shots, an armor, 2 infantry and a partridge in a pear tree, er; I mean an artillery. If your playing LL, that is most likely 7 kills! on the first combat round. Anywhere between 3 to 10 if playing regular dice  :-P.
With a Maximum of 10 ground units in Aus it will most likely be in Japans hands on J3. Or, Japan can merely sink or chase off all the UK ships in the Pacific. 100 troops in Australia are useless without transports.
Was Japan delayed in Asia a turn or two? yes.
Will the allies benifit from it in the long run? IMHO, Not very much.
The surrendering of the underbelly of Asia and northern Africa to the axis so easily and early on will more than make up for the delay.
It might work once, but, IMO, it is not the best Strat for the Allies.

      Hey Jennifer,
What kind of a rinkydink computer you got?
Maybe we should pass the hat so Jen can get an upgrade or two  :-P.
True, some systems do not like the Triple A program.

      Right on Bean!
I think you covered everything I’ve seen and more. :|

Basically everyone has to consider options due to what is before them, and rarely is it always the same.
Fact #1: Japan is best off if it has the only fleet in the Pacific and Indian oceans. A two front war is not good for anyone, especiallly Japan .
So, your strat should be to control them ASAP!
Fact #2: The sooner Japan controls India the better. If the UK player puts a factory in there with ample defenses you could loose all your Asian mainland before
                      J4 .
Fact #3: Japan needs 4 Transports, at least by the end of J2 . Keep them hidden, keep them safe  :-D.
Fact #4: Japan has to be able to threaten everywhere at all times. If the US leaves it’s west coast thinly defened, you should be able to cash in on it  :-o!
And should a KJF come your way, Build a factory in FIC and hunker down while Germany goes against Russia.
Good luck and enjoy the gaming.
