The g1 2 Bomber 1 sub buy can force pressure on the middle East by simply attacking with air units against ground so italy can waltz in. So UK can’t have it all, can’t have middle East and uk Pacific, has to give up one. You can hold India from a j3 in theory, assuming UK pacific stays on India and has Russia air fly in, India transport maybe drops in persia and drops back in India round 2. Anzac fly 3 air to Java and then India. Can be done.
If you see this well your goal is simply make money as long as you can. Be aggressive. You can take out Anzac if USA is at Japan waters. Take west Australia fly air there next round then you can blow Anzac away. You keep making money and hang in there. Malaya and fic minors.

Take and hold Shan state. You can accomplish this by all air hitting Burma j2. Honestly just taking UK pacific out is all Japan really needs to do. UK pacific makes winning by vc in Europe hard.

Tip for Japan, against all out KJF, take UK pacific at any cost. China can’t leave China. Unless USA has heavily invested into the pacific, the cash islands will be yours. If USA has invested heavily, well you survive / contest as long as you can to drain usa resources to make a run for union of south africa.

So basically this kjf your fleet you start standard kjf buy 2 carrier and a transport . Then after that 1 dd a round, sub or two rest bombers. So you go land Siberia with bombers from there you attack Japan ground like a madman. USA fleet is primarily an attack fleet so from Queensland you take islands Japan has to take it back… See Japan problem here is getting more land units to take territories, if he builds units on an a minor ic… You attack it with bombers.
Then Russia goes and blitzes through. Yeah you lose Russia round 6 in all likelihood,but you pretty much have Japan down for the count.
Japans solution to this is an all in on UK pacific. Hold Shan state and blam all Japan air can hit UK pacific. Drop everything. Bombards on top. Usually j3 or j4 all in. I mean it is pretty obvious what is coming and if the allies don’t have UK pacific… Japan can be healthy enough to keep cash islands and pressure a VC win so he can’t back out of the strategy to save Russia.
Japan fails to take UK pacific… Well you know 21 ipc UK pac is reinforcing the middle East with 7 INF round… Sucks for Germany to get Egypt vc win.

If you do this strategy… I recommend not doing Africa. Russia giving Japan problems and a kjf is awesome on its own especially if UK pacific is left in tact, that is your second Russia, you pretty much have 6 rounds to choke Japans income.
You can bring lots of USA bombers in to hold Russia. It is actually really good. You can go bomber crazy and attack ground troops with USA bombers left and right. It is a fun strategy, most Japan players don’t know what to do.

This map does favor the axis heavily. Russia starts the game with less money and less income than global. Typically Germany goes to war round 2 to take out Russia round 6-7.
It is easy for Germany / Italy to secure Egypt and from there Russia’s downfall is secured.
In global, USA typically is at war round 1 or 2. In Europe USA can’t move out till round 4. UK pacific is not an option for a 2nd back up Russia either in Europe only. Once Russia is gone, that is it.
~Nice thing about europe only is USA can just invade through spain and drop 20 guys a round there pretty fast without worry. It is still an axis map. 2 bomber 1 sub g1, G2 you have 4 bomber 1 fig 1 tact that can hit Egypt or malta or whatever to clear the way for Italy (or g3 all your air to blast through), as long as you buy mech/armor g2, g3, and g4 you can g5-g7 Russia no problem. Typically G6 Russia is dead. You may have to give up west germany / norway / maybe north Italy…. but it is an inevitable outcome. From there Fortress Europe begins and once Iraq/Persia/Iran gets taken, the axis income goes through the roof.

There is absolutely no reason to play a slower paced axis. A more aggressive axis sees faster gains, higher income rates, and has the vc win down within 10 rounds.
The old meta the axis played slower and typically lost.

The conventional wisdom in prior A&A games was for Germany to buy inf/art for the first few turns. So alot of the early strategies aimed for an attack on Moscow on G8 or G9 (these players built artillery for a few turns and then built mech, creating an invincible but not particularly mobile army)….which gives Allies more time to make gains in other regions or retreat the Siberians. Alot of times the Russians could simply abandon Moscow on R7 or R8 and still win the game if Allies were doing well in the Pacific.
Another factor was that in prior games the conventional wisdom was that Axis needed to move quickly and decisively to win the game while the long game favored the Allies. It took us awhile to figure out that (with the help of National Objectives, dual victory conditions and map dynamics) Axis could win the long game without having to capture any Allied capitals for the first 10 turns.
It took alot of us awhile to realize that J1 and J2 were generally better than J3 (although this shouldn’t have been hard to figure out given the superiority of J1 in the standalone Pacific game). This is closely related to the fact that most of my early games were Sea Lion games (so waiting till J3 keeps USA out of the Atlantic). Allies generally have a better chance in a Sea Lion game than in a Barbarossa game.
This was the old meta. Now the axis are far more aggressive. 2 bomber 1 sub g1, and slam egypt with 4 bomber 1 fig 1 tact etc.
