This is a great alternative set up for 1942 anniversary game . Love the turn order and how the Americans right off the bat get action in the pacific theatre. I have played this set up twice and have seen the axis and allies both win a game. I can vouch for this scenario as I had a blast playing it. If you want more pieces and naval action quickly in the pacific then give this one a try.

RE: Has 42.2 been superseded by Anniversary?posted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
Both games are great! If you ask my right now, I would rather play anniversary but I still have lots of love for 1942.2. I’m currently playing 1942.2 on YouTube with Hunter Jones and Sam Kenny. So even though I really really like anniversary right now, 1942.2 is never going away from me.

To be honest, the game was pretty much all positive feedback. It was well balanced and played out really well. The Japanesse had a few bad luck battles that put the allies on the offense for good. Will probably give it another spin soon, but I liked it and I was a happy camper with the way it played out.

Saw that! I bought a copy for a sixth grader that I know. I’m actually giving his lessons how to play. He’s picked up the game fast and is improving quickly. Good deals though for sure by Amazon

RE: Advice: AA50 vs AA1942seposted in Player Help
A50 is the best game out there as much as I love global. Everything about the game is great. 1942.2 is good, but can’t even come close to A50 and has problems with the set up as the axis can easily overwhelm the allies within the first few turns. They have come up with new rules and set ups to make the game more balance which is great but it still can’t compare to A50. A50 like I said hands down for me is the best all around axis and allies game. 👍

Fun set up! Just finished a game with this set up and it was really fun! Game lasted 11 rounds with an allied victory. Love the national objectives on the 1942.2 map. Also having tac bombers and mechs and bases add more flavor to the game. Great job and I would defiantly try it again in the future. 👍

I also got a crappy edition :(. Boxes bent, mainly Italian, board has creases on it! The german set up card corner is bent. Doesn’t look good for a new game at all!

RE: [1942 2nd Ed.] Argo's Summer 1942 Mapposted in House Rules
The allied fleet in the Atlantic is very massive. Russia can knock out two German u boats with the destroyer and sub on the first round. After Germany looses those subs, they don’t have a chance against the main UK fleet, which includes a carrier, battleship, and three destroyers plus other smaller ships in the Atlantic and an American armada off the coast of Washington. Once those fleets unite together it’s game over for the Germans in the Atlantic theatre and the landings continue to pour on all over Europe and Africa. Having a factory in North Western Europe makes it a juicy target for the allies. The American fleet in the pacific is almost as strong as the Japanesse, forcing the Japanesse commander to make very tuff decisions. Fun game though! Just don’t see how the axis can win this one. Now I only played this set up once but may need a few tweaks, but I really enjoyed this set up :-)

Cool and fun set up! Allied victory after ten rounds. The allied navies are stacked in the Atlantic and Paciifc. A few costly dice battles for the axis put them on the defense most of the game. Fun set up though and would do it again. Thanks Argothair! Always appreciate your different set ups and scenarios.

That’s awesome! I would totally be interested! I’m thinking to go to YG tournament as a spectator and meet everyone. I’m in the Bay Area (San Francisco) and we have about twenty guys who play A&A. I’m sure some guys here in the bay would be interested in going to Vegas since it’s only 45 minutes by plane. Hope everything works out

RE: How to beat Japan J1 DOW?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Howdy!
Welcome to the forums! Pacific 1940 is a great game! If Japan declares war on the first turn it can be tuff on the allies. Are you playing with the new 30 IPC rule that came out in 2014? If Japan attacks or declares war on the allies before turn 4, then the USA automatically gets a 30 IPC bonus which they can spend immideatly on there next turn. This helps a lot, but it can still be an uphill battle for the allies.
With USA and Anzac I like to buy naval ships (subs, destroyers, AC) and a transport a turn with the USA with two inf or inf and an artillery. Buy a naval base at the Johnson islands and when your fleet is strong after a few turns unite the allied fleet off the coast of Dutch New Guinea and sacrifice transports but reclaim those southern money islands. Keep adding to your fleet off the coast of Dutch New Guinea with massive reforcements from the Johnson islands. Also look into a factory on Queensland wi Anzac. That will put pressure on Japan and force the Japanesse commander to make tuff decisions either forcing more on the naval campaign or the Asian campaign. If you play your cards right then you will win the naval race and put Japan on the defense in the naval campaign. Pay attention also to Hawaii! Don’t let Japan sneak in a victory by taking the final VC. Always have a destroyer as a blocker just in case protecting Hawaii.
Asian campaign. With China buy inf and play hit and run. Let Japan come to you and be as much as a pain in the ass for them but retreating northwest. This will make japan frustrated.
With the U.K. Buy inf, artillery and a mech if you can. If you can keep the Burma road open but with China but don’t count on it after turn 3. Hold out as long as you can and if Japan attacks Calcutta hopefully you can knock out a few of there aircraft . That will only make your position stronger in the naval campaign with the allies. Good luck! -
