Global 1940 Tournament game report:

This weekends Global 1940 two-player game has just ended today. Here is a brief situation report:

Players:
Axis: Berserker
Allies: Cornelis

Early 1940,

Germany.

Germany decided to go for operation Typhoon. So 70% off its ipc is spend on infantry for the eastern front. the entire game.( for more information about operation typhoon: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/assets/uploads/files/1652126951995-1.strategy-guide-germany.pdf)

Japan’s main goal in the first four rounds is to take china, regroup and go for an invasion in Russia. Also maintain control in the pacific ocean.

Italy it’s only spending units in europe to defend against invasions from the USA/UK.

Russia main goal is to stay alive the first 5 rounds.

Amerika, is building a navy in the atlantic ocean and in the pacific to take as early as possible control of the oceans.

The UK is constant invading Norway and Normandy.
Also the UK destroyed the italian navy in the first round.
And did take care of the middle east.

Anzac takes over control over the money islands in the first three rounds.

Early 1944.

Germany faces a massive invasion in Norway. From the UK
Also the German advance comes to an halt in Russia.

Japan faces a massive invasion in China by the english.
Japan have lost the control in the pacific ocean, and the money islands.

Amerika captured caroline islands.
And will bring in continuous new units in Europe and the Pacific to weaken the Japanese and german economy.

Early 1945.

Germany is holding the eastern front
And also have a massive army in europe.

Japan, is forced to retreat all the remaining units to Japan.
Allies takes over control of China.
The Japanese economy is falling apart.
Because of the situation it seems hopeless for Japan, so they deciced to surrender.

Global 1940, No. 2 Game Report:

This is the only post in the No 2 Game Report.

Players:
Axis: Cornelis Post
Allies: Beserker

The game has endend after Germany, in round 10

IPC Income round 9
without Bonus.

The Axis 141.
The Allies 128

Germany:
Germany attacks Russia in round 3, the Italians captured Caucasus in round 3.
in round 4 with help of the Italians a huge force was on Caucasus, also one German tank army.
after this the axis held the Caucasus for several turns, the Axis quickly conquered the middle east.
In round 9 the Allies were able to defeat the last German forces in the middle east,

The desert army was:

One Tank army
One waffen ss army. ( dropped with air units)
and 10 infantry.
Because of the allies strategy to build no navy at all in the Atlantic,
the Germans saw a perfect chance to execute Sealion after the take over.

Soviet Union:

The Sovjet Union was under heavy pressure from Germany at the start of the game, butt because of the axis invading the middle east, this was relieving for the Russians.
in the following turns the Russians are becoming very strong.
only 1 plane was successfully send lend lease.
3 planes from the English where destroyed by axis forces. (Also send lend lease)
The Russians where fighting a war of attrition.

Japan:

The Japanese forces are building up a huge amount of transports till round 4,
they only build 1 factory in china in the early stages of war.
the Plan was to take as fast as possible the money islands and the Philippens.
The Japanese build up a huge forces in the Caroline islands, The US could not capture it the entire game.
In Round 9 the Japanese defeated the last remaining Chinese soldiers.
In round 8 because of the huge build up of transports the British soldiers in India must retreat.
They destroyed the factory harbor and airfield. ( first making the factory underground.)

United States:

The US invented a new strategy to use air transport to move units to Africa every round.
which led to 50+ mechanized infantry in Asia and Afrika.
The only navy build was on the pacific,
The US navy in the pacific was a very strong fleet.
With one carrier with 2 fighter aces ass well.
The US was constantly looking to attack the Caroline islands. Butt at this point in the war it was no option till so far.

China:
The Chinese Army was doing a great job and stead a very long time alive.

United Kingdom:

The UK attacked the Italian fleet in the first round.
In the 2 round they attacked the remaining fleet of the Italians,
which led to no Italian navy butt also no English navy.

The UK was heavenly reinforcing Afrika and also India,
Java where 10 infantry was dug in, in bunkers.

Italy:

From Early 1940 Italy mass produces Landing Craft units, to invade Russia and the middle east.
The Italians where very poor in the beginning because of the massive attacks from the allies,
butt with help of the Germans the Italians captured the entire middle east.
They hold it for at least 2-3 round.

with help of German U boats the Mediterranean sea was swept clean in round 3.
because of no allied navy the Italians held the bonus for 5 IPC the entire game afterwards for a clean sea.

The Anzac,

Because of the Japanese attacks in round 4 the Anzac where very weakened,
The Anzac focus was to recapture islands and do convoy raiding.

The Following pictures show the beginning of Round 10,
because London was captured, and the Allies could not recapture it, it was not necessary to complete the round after the German turn

With the take over germany pulled all troops back together with italian troops.
Italy bought 8 transports before the take over.
The Germans build 12 transports after the take over. Total of 21 transports.
And 5 landing crafts
So after the take over the UK has one round to buy units for London, butt the UK had 39 ipc at this point, so they purchased 9 infantry and 1 flak tower.

3 fighters
3 strategic bombers.
13 tanks
16 artillery
17 infantry ( also 1 elite )
2 combat engineers.
4 panzer grenadiers
5 landing crafts

The Allies

13 british infantry
1 elite
2 french soldiers
2 UK fighters
1 French fighter
1 tactical bomber
2 heavy bombers from the US
5 AA guns
a Flak tower.

The flak tower scored 2 hits, the total hits of the allied forces was 12
The axis hit 35 + hits in the first round.

Hi everyone,

Jan and I almost finished our warroom.
We would like to share some pictures with you.
The map on the table has the same size as the 1936 middle map.

The Map on the picture does also have the Captains ‘‘house rule expansion’’ in it. (addition to the game)
For every Axis and Allies lover, who would like to add some more variety of units and tactics.
It’s very easy to learn and to add, to your regular game, the 1940 global version.

Just take a quick look, and decide for yourself.

On the wall we have two dice towers, which can be taken off smoothly.
(I made those myself, they are very quiet and easy to use. I also sell them, if you are interested).
We also use a magnetic board on the wall to keep up during the game. (there is a poster in the making for the board with a large ipc tracker.)

Game report from Holland,

Just played my second game with the global expansion house rules.
this brings the game absolutly to another level!

First off all i made a lot of markers, and painted all the special units with his own special color.

for example,

all waffen units with the color red.

all elite infantry with the color green.

Unfortunalty Germany lost his army by a mistake in Russia so the Allies won the game in round 12.

So next time Germany will gain a victory.
You can only learn from you’re mistakes;)

So to every Axis and Allies fan i say this,

If you are looking for a great and cheap way to improve you’re game massive.

Global 1940, No. 2 Game Report: Early 1945

This is the only post in the Global 1940 No. 2 Game Report.

Players:
Axis: Cornelis Post
Allies: Dark Knight

From Early 1940, Germany launched a Massive U-Boat Offensive in The Battle Of The Atlantic.
This offensive continued during the entire War, with a continued high U-Boat production.

The fighting on the Eastern Front was clearly marked by the massive German U-Boat production, since the reinforcements on the Eastern Front were scarce.

Nonetheless the German Army Group North & Army Group South were doing progress - slowly but surely - deeper into Soviet territory.

The Soviet Union defended their frontlines with 1st & 2nd Tank Armies, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Army Corps - and an almost unlimited amount of Red Army Conscription Infantry units - slowing down the German offensive.

Japan attacked early. In the beginning of round 3. They atackted the Philippines, Anzac and the English.

United States declared War on Japan, and they get access to the national guard. Which includes 6 infantry and 2 fighter planes for free. After the suddenly attack in the pacific. The US go for a new plan. They let the pacific behind and they are going all in. In the Atlantic against Germany.

United Kingdom was surrounded by German Wolf Packs, butt very soon the US eliminate this treat.
So they also launched an attack on Europe every round. With landing craft and paratroopers.

The British economy was falling apart because of the Japanese in the pacific. They also lost all navy in round 2 including all their air units in the europe theatre.

Also Italy took Egypt in round 4 and they attacked Afrika massively.

ANZAC fought bravely - but alone without support from either United States or United Kingdom.

The Allied Nations seemed to fall apart - with no chance of getting a foothold in the Pacific. In Europe, the Germans have a very touch time. Fighting against three major nations.

Because of the massive invasions of the US and the British in Europe. The Germans must retreat on the Eastern Front.

Italy was helping the Germans on a massive scale.
In the last 4-5 rounds the Italians get 45 ipc every round.

So the allies were going all in on Berlin.
So in early 1945 Russia attacked first Berlin. After that the Americans attacked Berlin with all their planes. And the last one who attacked Berlin in the same round was England.
Is was a massive brutal attack with all air units of the English and the Americans involved.

Butt the Germans survived these fiersome attacks. So after this last huge desperate attack. The Allies surrenderd. Because there was no chance of winning the game after this.!!

Global 1940, No. 1 Game Report:

At the start of Late 1943 (round 8)
This is the second post of this game.

Ipc Income.
Axis: 109
Allies: 160

Players:
Axis: Beserker

Germany.

The Germans are heavily fighting in Europe the last 3 rounds.

They lost Danmark in the last round, including a panzer army, also a lot of units.

The British takes out the German fleet.

Germany has built back a massive heavy battleship (bismarck ) and a carrier to take care of the upcoming threat. The Can opener💪🏻. 🥫🥫

Germany is also producing all waffen ss units on a massive scale to, to scale up the waffen army’s as fast as possible.
Germany also bought 4 fighter planes with the total war rule.

Russia.
Army conscription has arrived at the front.
The Sovjets are now in their peak.

They will push hard deep into German territories. With the Fist👊🏻
Last rounds Russia has their bonus alive from seazone 127 and Russia did take A pro axis country.💵💰
The Russians do also a great job on the Japanese and are fighting everywhere now.

Army group north units:

Infantry: 39
Sovjet guard: 3
2 army corpse.
3 tanks
1 fighter.

Japanese.

Japan launched a massive attack on the whole pacific.
After this the US attacked their main fleet. Which led to heavy losses on both sides.
Only 2 heavy battleships survived and 1 battleship. (From Japan)

China. Is doing great. Desperately needs airsupport.🛩🛩

The US.

The floating bridge is almost ready to use💪🏻
Every round the US pounds in Norway, and Danmark. To take out as much damage as they can.

Also The Us takes out almost the whole Japanese Navy…

The Us has lost this battle butt…

they are already mass producing a heavy navy in the pacific. This wil be build up massively in the upcoming rounds.

The US is mass producing units on a massive scale with the total war rule.

UK

The Uk attacks the German fleet and takes out all ships.
They also sent a panzer general to Afrika to support al alemein against Rommel.
The Uk has retreated on multiply positions because of the take over threat.

Italy.

Is only fighting in de Middle East. They are doing great.
Als Italian para troopers are doing a great job.
The take over is a card for the axis what is a pain in the ass strat.

The sub marines from the UK and the US are doing great at convoy raiding into Italian convoy’s

Anzac.
Anzac is producing submarines and bombers on a massive scale💪🏻

Attacked all Japanese transports and Japanese conquered islands. In the pacific.
Also Anzac whole fleet attacked the remaining Japanese battleships.

Anzac is now preparing with two strategic bombers together with massive submarines to deal with any Japanese navy on a solo campaign in the pacific.

Anzac units: 1 escort, 1 destroyer 1 cruiser , 3 subs and a bomber where not able to take out the remaining ships.

The Us is doing great in the pacific.
18 u boats in the Atlantic is concerning though.

Yes the HRE is truly outstanding good.
I’ve played the game like 30-50 times and I still make new strategies.

The landing crafts and paratroopers are the best units available on the board definitely.
Also when you play with the axis Italy can conquer a country, or island. And Germany can move his planes in the country in the upcoming round ( also with air transport, Germany can move a panzer unit with air transport.)
So for example Italy takes Alexandria in round 3.
And germany buys 6 air units at round 3. Germany can launch an invasion with 6 units and all airplanes to Afrika.
The UK must retreat.

So after a few games the balance will become 50/50 for the axis and the allies.

So also the allies must plan very carefully what to do.
We are also working on a YouTube channel.
This year we are planning to explain the rules on YouTube, and after some strategic opening moves.

Players:
Axis: CC
Allies: The Captain

Early 1940:
Germany:
Germany is building up transports and landingcrafts.

France and Southern France are captured. Finland & Bulgaria joins Germany.

Allied fleets in sz 110 & 111 are eliminated.

Soviet Union:
The Soviets build up with a mixed unit combination of Paratroopers, Commissar, Tank, Artillery and Elite Infantry. also a lot of Mines.

Massive re-organization plus troop movement by Strategic Rail Movement.

Japan:
The japenese produced 1 factory 2 transports and 1 elite infantry.

Opening attacks in China.

Re-organization of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

United States:
Build up & re-organization in the Pacific.

All US factories are producing a maximum of 3 units, earmarked for use in the Pacific.

China:
Chinese units counter attack and capture Yunnan.

United Kingdom:
The UK reinforced Londen massive.
Re-organization in both Europe & Pacific theatres.

Italy:
Italy takes out the French Navy.
and clear the meds.

ANZAC:
Re-organization & build up of Naval & Air units.

France:
is doing great.

• 1 French fighter from London destroys 2 cruisers and survives the game.

Late 1940

Germany.

builds up 1 waffen army and builds a heavy battleship including 2 transports in the meds.
also germany produces 5 air transports.
no further attacks in the second round.

Russia

Is building up a vast amount of mines,
also all Russian troops takes strategic locations to fend of any attack.

Japanese

The japanese is only attacking in China,
and is organizing its fleet to attack in the 3e round.

The US

is building up units to kill Germany first, almost all money goes the Europe theater, the entire game.

UK

the UK retakes all original country’s from italy in Africa.

Situation in the end of round 3

Germany is building up a army group in the middle east,
The Japanese are sending units to reinforce the italians and germans in Africa.

In Round 3 the Japanese sends a part of his navy to seazone 58. This makes it possible to attack at multiple positions next round.
This forces the allies player to blockade all directions to fend off an enemy invasion.

The Japanese captured the money islands in the next rounds (also China was captured )
Butt slowly US and Anzac transport liberated the money islands.
A war of attrition was held.

The Japanese prepared to take the Phillipennes
Butt this island was heavily reinforced with fighter units.
The Japanese attacked butt lost 13-18 land based units. They captured the islands butt lost to many troops, to continue the fight and re-capture the money islands.

After the russians army consricption the Axis powers in the Europe Theater where slowly destroyed and Pushed back

Because of the heavy investment in units in africa and the middle east,
soon the eastern front collapsed.
The UK and the US including Russia attacked Germany every round massively.
In round 10 The German’s decided to take over Italy.
and captured Egypt again with heavy losses for the British player.

Butt in this Round after the Japenese the Allies took as much as country’s as they could get.

**This was a very skilled and strategic planned operation, The Allies waited for the Germans to take over. They Allies where counting the ipc tracker on a massive scale.

So the Russians captured country’s deep in the German homeland.

The US captured the Atlantic coast including Holland , Norway Danmark including French. And Normandy.

The UK captured southern France.

The Anzac Captured the last money islands.

So after this Round the allies have like 200 ipc plus on the ipc tracker.
So a economic victory was a fact.

Fun Fact: there is a waffen army fighting in China in the final round.
