      I know this is late in the conversation, but instead of making all of these changes to balance J1 and if J2 and J3 are balanced why not just make the rule that Japan cannot attack J1???

      @Slimek:

      Simply beautiful and you’re clearly a fan with friends, but where are the coasters or cup holders?

      I think that drinks should be kept across the room from A&A boards in general, and in an entirely different room from gaming tables as nice as this one.  Just one spill could be catastrophic.

      Drinks aren’t allowed near the game table in my house either.  A rule that was put in place after my poor settlers of catan game took a bath from a spilled drink.

      Another question for you krieg.  Can germany charge a toll to pass through the danish straits? Russia wanted to pass through R1 while not at war with Germany and I said they could if they wanted to pay a toll.  Is that allowed?  I know you can’t give your allies IPC, but it dosen’t say anything about giving it to your future enemies.

      Thanks.

    • RE: Isnt the game just broken if USA builds a major factory in Norway?

      No the game is not broken by the Norway build.  Germany should realize the importance of Norway and keep sufficient forces to hold it and if not have units available to retake it.  If US is doing a KGF or KIF strat, then Japan needs to do it’s part to make the US pay for ignoring them.

      @Bruda_Iz:

      Yes Cond1024… but it was a heck of a great game regardless.  Now I’m racking my brains on how we would have stopped you if not for that anomoly of the dice.

      I don’t think you could have stopped us.  If Japan hadn’t lost it’s capital, we would have been at 13 VC at that point needing one more to fall.  With Japan at 80 IPC Sydney and Honolulu would not have lasted much longer (2-3 turns) and with Russia gone I would have shifted German units to help Italy in Africa and the Med as well as take on UK.

      In the Europe only version, does a captured major IC become a minor one?  That rule is only mentioned in the Global rules.

    • RE: 7 games played so far and no axis wins yet, I played axis twice.

      In our first global game I was Germany.  I attacked Russia G3 and took Moscow on G6. I was aided by 2 Russian naval buys, an AC and a Destroyer.  This helped out Germany because it was 24 IPC less of ground units to kill and eliminated 2 soviet ftrs that were on the carrier.  What I did was G1 bought 1 ac 2 trans did usual attacks sinking RN, taking paris and normandy, Yugoslovia, Bulgaria, and Finland with 2 Norway inf.  Transported 1inf 1 tank from poland to Norway, placed AC in 112 to protect fleet, 1 trans in 113 and 1 in 114.  G2 transported 3 inf, 3 art to Finland with 3 transports giving me 10 inf, 1 arm, 3 art in Finland, and moved all other units within range of soviet boarder territories.  Place a IC in romania and 2 tanks, 1 mech inf in Berlin rest of buys in W Germany.  G3 I attacked Karelia with Finland stack and took losing 1 inf, picked up 3 inf, 2 tanks, 1 art with trans and attacked Vyborg losing 1 inf attack bess with southern stack (not sure on numbers), Baltic and E poland and captured all territory.  Sunk Russian navy using my newly purchased subs, airforce and navy.  G4 I attacked Leningrad with stacks from finland, vyborg, air force and 3 inf, 3 tank (arriving by transport) and 2 naval shots against about 19 inf, 1 art, 2 or 3 tanks and 1 tac.  I only had 1 tank attack from Baltic states, because Russia counterattacked there R3 and wiped out force leaving 1 tank and retreated into Leningrad.  I lost all inf and mech inf, in battle but was left with 4-5 art and 7 tanks.  By taking Leningrad I wiped out the soviets northern army and there was very little left between me and Moscow.  In the south my large stack of inf was moving east and destroyed Russia southern army on G5.  By this time Italy had come up throught the mid east and was poised to take Stalingrad on I6.  I attacked moscow on G6 with all my force which consisted of Tanks, air force, mech inf and a couple of inf from the southern army against about 15 russian inf and 1 art.  I took moscow with about 3 tanks left.

      With Germany marching through Russia it looked like a for sure axis victory, except for happenings in the pacific.  I was so focused on the European front I missed a major gap in the Japanese forces (played by another player).  As Bruda stated in his post, an anzac transport with 2 inf attacked the caroline islands with 2 jap inf and won.  Yea 2 at 1 beat 2 at 2 without losing anyone.  This allowed the US to capture Japan getting all 78 IPC Japan had and gave america a woping sum of 160 IPCs.  Japan was unable to retake its capital and lost its entire air force taking Calcutta so was pretty much out of the game.  With Japan gone, the US spent all 160 IPCs to take out Italy.  The Axis sued for peace.  It was a tough call because Russia and India were gone, but Italy couldn’t keep up with Uncle Sam and Germany was repelling UK landings every turn and it was 230 in the morning (Start time was 19:15).  The axis should have one, but we made one major mistake and it cost us.

      @gamerman01:

      @cond1024:

      Can a tank or mech inf non-com move through a recently conquered territory to reinforce another territory?  Here is what happened, Italy controlled Egypt and Iraq, attacked and captured trans-jordan, so could Italy move a mech inf or tank in egypt (did not move during combat move phase) through trans jordan to reinforce Iraq?

      Thanks!

      Yes.  Even just a mech (as you said), because TrJ was friendly during the noncombat phase.

      Thanks for the response gamerman, and that is how I see the rule, but there was disagreement about it, so I need Krieg’s official ruling.
      Krieg is gamerman correct?

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      So I looked over this entire FAQ and I didn’t see a couple of clarifications regarding USSRs NO.
      In the rule book it says Russia get +5 for being at war (it dosen’t specify euro axis) and no enemy ships in sz 125.
      Someone asked if it was suppose to be 127, so I am just making sure it is 125.  I believe I have read somewhere that it is only if Russia at war with Euro axis, but I haven’t found an official Krieg response.

      Krieg please clarify so that if it comes up on game night I can pull up your response.

      Thanks in advance.

    • RE: Tech Tokens

      what exactly was the AA50 rule?
      5 ipc’s
      and reroll every turn start?
      do you lose your roll if you get tech?

      The AA50 rule was you could buy a token(s) (5 IPC) and got to roll every turn until you got a tech and then lost the token(s).  You could buy as many tokens that you wanted, but all would be surrendered when you got a tech.  I would usally buy 2 or 3 tokens and get a tech either the turn I bought or the next, but once I got my tech I lost all 2 or 3 tokens.  I could then buy more the next round and so on.

    • RE: There are not enough Italian Roundels!!!

      I just used German roundels flipped over onto the back (black color showing).  It worked until I ran out of German roundels, so then we just put them on the boarders, 1 roundel was in 2 territories to show Italian ownership.

    • RE: Italy a bad design

      @Imperious:

      Germany now has V3!

      Builds: 1 DD, 3 AP

      Attack: SZ 106 with 2 subs ( no more tank and infantry) haha!

      Attack: SZ 110 with 2 subs, 2 fighters, 1 Tactical at 4

      Attack: SZ 111 with 1 sub, 1 Bomber, 1 tactical at 4 and 1 Fighter

      Attack SZ 112 wirh 1 BB, 1 CA, 1 Tactical at 4 and 1 Fighter

      all planes used.

      UK has just a DD and AP on west UK. it cant bring anything.

      On top of that UK defends with just 11 Inf and 3 fighters.

      PLUS!!! Germany now may have 2 subs to go with her DD, CA and BB.

      and it still has 4 AP in back of that in Baltic.

      What do you do now?  You go with that Italy attack?

      HA! I take UK, its mine finally.  TO stop this you must attack my fleet of: 2 subs, 1 battleship, 1 Cruiser, 1 Destroyer.

      You got a DD and 3 planes to do this…. result you MUST stop the attack on Italy. You should attack this fleet with 1 CV, 2 DD, 4 planes and exchange our fleets.

      I saved Italy and really made it a required play. I suppose you might bring the ships to the east coast and let me kill it with all my planes, saving part of my fleet.

      I am a genious!

      Where are you putting those transports? Back in the Baltic? If you are putting them in SZ 113 with the rest of your navy in 112 then as the UK I send 1 fighter to SZ 113 to sink all 4 of your transports, move my carrier to SZ 110 to land the fighter.  Britian saved, but so is italian fleet, but now 28 IPC of German transports are sitting at the bottom of the baltic.  If you put them in 114 then they can’t make it to London and I attack the Italian navy.

      @cond1024:

      Unless I am counting something wrong the axis can win without taking any allied capital.  14 VC win with the following
      1. Berlin 2. Rome 3. Paris 4. Warsaw 5. Cairo 6. Leningrad 7. Stalingrad 8. Calcutta 9. Hong Kong 10. Shanghai 11. Tokyo
      12. Manila 13. Sydney 14. Honululu

      Paris is an allied capital :-D
      However, this may be just as hard or harder: Hawaii and Sydney won’t fall easily if US doesn’t ignore Pacific(coughKGF/IJ)

      And so is Sydney.

      Yes you are correct, but I was referring to a major allied capital (Moscow, London, Washington, or SF) and yes I know SF is not a capital in Global.

      Thanks for the correction 8-)

    • RE: E40 after action reports

      @GrizzlyMan:

      It sounds like Italy was a force to be reckoned with. What was their income a few turns into the game?

      Well there final income at game end was 44 with 15 IPC from NO
      After I1= 16 plus 5 NO
      I2= 20 plus 10 NO
      I3= 25 plus 10 NO

      Italy was really the difference maker in this game.  They took out Africa, but it didn’t hurt the allies really because UK  and France were in German so they weren’t taking IPCs from anyone.  Where they were really helpful was in Russia, first where they took over baltic states thereby allowing germany to move through and take Leningrad (which was lightly defeneded because Russia player thought they had Baltic as buffer) and secondly they took over Stalingrad.

      France also didn’t play its turn yet, and it didn’t do anything to provoke Germany

      Well they declared war on Germany in September 1939 along with Britian after Germany invaded Poland.

      No I haven’t got my game yet, ordered from coolstuff and won’t get it till Monday 8/30.  Played 1 game with another guy in my group who got it from a local store but I didn’t get a chance to read the rule book, to focus on game at hand.  I will check it out when I get it.
