RE: Path to Berlin - which point to invade?posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionYou got the right idea. I usually attempt to bridge units from the UK to Norway, or if that gets to rough you can use Karelia/Archangel. With the U.S. in Africa you want to cut Germany off from taking over the continent so make that a priority. The general plan for me in a KGF is to get rid of their navy first. Then try to bleed them out but taking Africa, Norway, West Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. They can have their three big territories. Make sure you continue to trade territories with Russia and Germany and keep your U.S. bombers in London. If you can’t use them to take out boats do a strategic bombing raid on Berlin with U.S. or the U.K. This also requires you to stack the starting infantry to hold of Japan. You can easily get a stack of 8, or more if you want to reinforce, in western Russia and near Sinkiang/Persia.

RE: Axis & Allies 1942 Game Board Sizeposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionI finally got a map printed out last week. Fedex office/kinkos did the job. It is on vinyl, 48 inch by 25.5 inch. Cost $87.25 which is okay. I only have one aa1942 set so my set up still requires some chips. A special thanks to IL for the map.

RE: Question on combat move! help!posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionNo. Your one movement is the loading onto the transport. Any land unit on a transport can be loaded and offloaded on a single turn but it takes up all their movement.

RE: Allies: Holding off Japanposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionYou can try to be aggressive with Russia and the UK forces in India on round 1. This usually opens up the US to place an IC on Sinkiang R1 and pump 2 tanks into Asia each round.
-
RE: .posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionAn IC on India is too risky. It should most assuredly fall. I usually cede India and try for an IC in Sinkiang, depending on what Japan does. But it all truly depends on what your opponent does.

RE: Kgf vs. kjfposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionI’m not sure why you call them the “easiest” strategies. If something works it works. There are counters to it. You could even exploit someone if you see them go for a KGF or KJF strategy. I have tried to split my attacks as the allies in many games and in all honesty it just makes for a longer game. Either you go for a kill first strategy and win, or you lose! Either way you find out by round 6 (usually). If you were in a real war scenario and had to strategical command an army your subordinates would be furious with you, perhaps even overthrow you if they could, if you chose the most difficult strategy to win with. True veterans or not, if someone uses a strategy over and over on you then you must find a way to counter it. I think difficult and easy are the wrong term. Perhaps standard and non-standard would be more accurate? When my friends and I play fighting games we always find a move that we say is “cheap.” For example, “Dude, that move is so cheap! Do something else!” What we mean is, “I hate that move I can’t stop it!” Once we find a way to stop or counter it we don’t scream at each other…well usually we beat on each other but its all in good honest fun.

RE: Failure start for G1posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionI doubt he will go for it but I can try. I should also mention that my opponent has yet to beat me. We have played maybe 5 times and he always wants to be the allies. Every time I win and usually handily. I think I will be fine with just purchasing infantry and maybe a couple subs… the plan is to get Japan as beefy as possible. Hold out with Germany and dominate with Japan, or at least I hope.

RE: Failure start for G1posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionNo, I cannot collect income. And I am worried about the UK now having a scary navy to dominant the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Baltic. I figure my G2 turn will be all defensive and my J1 and J2 moves will be aggressive. It should be interesting…though I have yet to lose to this opponent.

Failure start for G1posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionSo….I got really drunk with the guy I play 1942 with and I made a random bet that screws me over for our next match. Basically, I forfeit my first German turn in round one. I know, dumb bet. So here I am, asking for advice in this situation. I figure…after I get owned by Russia AND the UK I’ll mass up infantry and some subs to try and cut my losses. I also think that I’ll have to be extra aggressive with Japan and see what I can do to get in the med and seriously pressure Russia. Any thoughts?

RE: Best way to determine victoryposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 EditionA playoff round? In my experiences the game speeds up a lot after the 4th round. Rounds 5 and 6 go fast and you usually know who is going to win by round 6 or 7.

RE: Fast way to calculate battle oddsposted in Player HelpYou can just use this…and if you have an iTouch or iPhone you can download the app and have it anywhere you go.
