      ?

      besides,
If they had a defense of zero, I wouldn’t by manny trannies at the price of 8 IPC, it would just be to expensive when you would need to buy additional destroyers to defend against all those lurking bombers just waiting to make that move.

      it’s up to you:

there are many strategy games that go beyond the level of A&AR…
so, you should try to find and play these games!

By the way: about increasing the territories? this doesn’t make things more complicated…
If you look at the difference between A&A and A&AR: there have been modifications in this order…
but I think it didn’t made the game more complex at all.
      It is more balanced now…

I think using movement limitations and a limit of 10 is a good variant. As for piling everyone in West Russia, yes, that could happen, but then Russia could pile everything in the capitol and hold you off, then all of your other territories are free for UK. It’s very easy to try and win in one round by sending everyone after a capitol like that, and inevitably it’s what everyone did the first time we played that way, but then you learn pretty quick that people are going to second-guess that strategy and you’ve got to cover your ass on all sides. In the end, people end up going with more realistic, and ultimately more enjoyable, starting troop placements.

I thik ive got grasp with the india defence idea. Do the usual in russia, but place ur tanks in Cau. Bring the 2 inf from Kazak to persia in turn one. Then on Uk turn, buy an ac (to be placed on india), and send India destroyer to attack the lonely Jap transport. Load 2 men from india into teh transporet and take borneo. Land the Ac fighter in india and mobilize the infantry from trans to persia, and from perisa to india. You will have 2 Inf, AA and Fighter to defend india. Also take your AC away from danger into south africa. As for the Australian little fleet, load two inf into that transport and attack New Guinnea, while sending your sub to sink the jap sub off of the salomon islands. The remaning IC’s should be spent in teh european theatre, but i shall not discuss that here. If everything goes in your favor, the japanese will have to chose between attacking india and risking a counterassault by the russians, or atatcking the united states at China. This will also keep them occupied for a few turns, in which the asia wall stratergy should be applied.

I think Panzerblitz helps a bit against Russia in the way you can move in with heavy support from tanks an then move em back when the territory is captured in a safe distance. However I do think The German player is in a bigger need of mobility for his infantry. Therefore I suggest one to replace Panzerblitz with any of my NA variant of Panzergrenadiers, especialy for those who thinks Panzerblitz sucks!

      1. Panzergrenadiers
During World War II, the Germans had troops that were designed for fighting alongside tanks. These were fully motorized units, so that they could at all times keep up with the tanks.
Each of your tanks give one matching infantry one additional movement allowance. The tank and the infantry unit must leave from the same territory.

      2. Panzergrenadiers
The Germans used elite troops that were designed for fighting alongside tanks, favoured with a greater proportion of the best equipment. These troops were fully motorised units, so that they could at all times keep up with the tanks.
Each of your tanks give one matching infantry one additional movement allowance and an increased attack capability of 2 or less in the first cycle of combat only. Even if supported by artillery, their attack remains 2. The tank and the infantry unit must leave from the same territory.

      3. Panzergrenadiers
The Germans used elite troops that were fully motorised. These troops were designed for fighting alongside tanks and favoured with the best equipment.
Each of your tanks give one matching infantry one additional movement allowance and an enhanced defense capability of 3 or less. This increased defense ability is for the first cycle of combat only.

This holds Germany back about 4 turns. Only then can they break the stalemate.
Buy 3 inf, art, 2 arm
      Bel- 3 inf 2 ftr
Ukr- 3 inf, art,  3 arm
      Wru- everything else in reach.
      All should be taken over.
Place 3 inf and art on Cau, while the 2 arm  in Mos
move all infantry from east to west, leaving a 4 man plug on Sin and Yak
The Germans will have no cannon fodder to strike back, and if they do, 5-9 inf, 2 art and 3 arm will definately push them back in Ukr.
If they decide to go for Africa hard now, the russians will be in a favorable position for about 4 turns (this is usually enough for the British and Americans to overwhelm Africa and the seas). KGF

There is only a few ways to counter a KGF, and it should be done in the first turn for Germany. I like to buy a AC on med and land a fighter on it. This way the british airforce cant threaten my Africa chain the next turn. I also build a destroyer on the Baltic fleet. This helps them survive (I use them + planes to hit the allied vessels). This leaves Russia run around free in the east having 30+ icps everyturn, but the ipc’s lost in the east can be quickly regained in africa. Japanese planes help alot too.

oh, believe me, I love having ACs…I’ve been known to pull up along shore with 4-6 of them with 2 fighters each.

We even have a house rule that SS don’t exist, but you can have Super ACs which hold 3 fighters instead of 2. (you can actually fit 3 fighters on the deck too, if you’re careful!) It’s a beautiful site.

BTW, we also have a house rule that there are no chips. When you run out of pieces you can’t build anymore. smile
