    • Surprise attack question

Whn a sub does a surprise attack and the only defending boat is a battleship what happens if the sub scores a hit? Does the battleship still need another hit, or does the surprise attack override the two-hit rule?

    • RE: Short game

Fan of Japan myself. Fits my style of play I guess. Sounds like it could have been a good game with a couple better moves by Russia, but an inexperienced player might struggle with the strategy at first.

    • RE: Most decisive battle of the Second World War

Ah well. Nevertheless it is simple to understand.
Because of the battle lost over England, the resistances and the obtination of churchill, Hitler has change his plan and so he attacked USSR.
      A fatal error!!!

While I agree attacking Russia was Hitler’s error, it’s just to damned big to be overtaken, it was already his plan to attack Russia. He could get rid of the Bolsheviks and the Jews, while creating living space for a growing Germany. Also wanted the resources they had as well. Failing at England didn’t cause Hitler to invade Russia. I think it was more of a Pearl Harbor type move anyway. Not trying to conquer England, just trying to render it useless to stop Germany from doing what it really wanted.

I’m like Maverick on this and haven’t played Global, but that sounds like a butt load of stuff for one round. And even if the guys are new did they not make one attack when it was their turn?

    • RE: How many years would you say a turn is?

      Thanks Krieg.

Really good way of saying a lot of what I was thinking. For some things a turn a turn may historically be only a few weeks (Japanese actions on and shortly after Pearl Harbor) while others are longer, and of course, would most likely even out over the course of a game.

      Good explanation.

    • RE: How many years would you say a turn is?

That was my thought process as well. Six months may even be a little long for some of the battles, but how you said it can leave you a little short for some games with just 7 or 8 turns putting you past the end of the real war.

Maybe somewhere around five months may be a little more accurate.

    • How many years would you say a turn is?

Assuming that the war doesn’t have to end in summer of '45 (but probably somewhere near there), what do you guys think is an accurate timeframe regarding a full round?

Six months seems like an easy guess, but I haven’t really played enough games to get a good sample to draw from.

    • RE: Spring 1942 players near Western Maryland

No. They’re in Maryland. It’s okay though, people in Eastern Maryland have no idea where we are either.

I knew there was an Allegheny (ours is Allegany) County in Pa., but not a Garrett. I live to the southeast of Washington, below Bedford Co.

Half hour in which direction of Washington?

Still play Civ Rev a decent amount. Like was said earlier, it can be played in an evening and has that “One more turn” feel that makes it hard to stop once you start playing.

Looking for any AA players in either Allegany, Washington or Garrett Counties, or in neighboring counties. Would also be willing to play other versions.

    • RE: Imperious Leaders 1942 Supreme Map

I just used a differnet map. Would have liked to use IL’s, but couldn’t. The few times I’ve played on it I haven’t noticed anything falling apart or fraying. Looks pretty solid.

You might even be able to get around the 100 MB upload if you contact them.

    • RE: Imperious Leaders 1942 Supreme Map

I had a hard time finding a local store to print one out for me so I printed a map out on canvas from uprinting.com.

Went 60x30 and it cost $92. I little higher than what is on here, but it was the cheapest I could find online.

The only problem is that you can only upload 100 MB, and the Supreme map is a little larger than that. I definitely like the OOB look of this like IL said, but really a bigger map was all I was after.

Hope this helps anyone who might need it.

What are the explosion(?) pieces in the later pictures? I’m guessing it’s an explosion and smoke cloud. Are they more for show, or do you incorporate them into the game?

So during a surprise attack (my sub vs. enemy cruiser) , if I hit the cruiser he doesn’t get a chance to fire back right? If I don’t hit, does he get a chance to fire back?

    • RE: Air unit questions

      Thanks.

That’s what I thought. I’m assuming this would hold true on the non-combat move as well? Can’t reinforce air units to a territory you conqured during the combat move, right?

    • Air unit questions

I know I’ve seen this on here before, but can an air unit land in a newly conquered territory? Is it they can’t be the only unit to conquer it, or does it have to land in a territory that was friendly at the beginning of the turn?

      Thanks for any help.

Awesome. How much is this going to cost you do you think. Not only would it be great to have a table like that, but I think it would be a lot of fun makinhg it as well.

I remember seeing one of those somewhere on the internet. You guys provide a great service with all of these tools.

I need a table I can put a cover over and just leave the game as is. That way the girlfriend’s cat can’t get to the pieces, and all it takes is to remove the cover and your pieces are there ready to go.

Somebody has some pictures of his gaming table in the the AAE40 forum. I need to make me one of those.

    • RE: Setup help

Thanks everybody. I apprecaite all the help. I think for now it would be nice to have a place hwere I could leavemid-game, and be able to come back to it later without having to break it down and set it back up. I’m the only one of my friends that even knows about the game, and I can’t see anything running very smooth and fast the first couple times through.
