      @Noll:

      Do you know if there’s any good ww2 tactical game with turns instead of real time?

      I tried heart of iron 3 (and that game doesn’t have turns either) but I find it too deep in rules to like it. (I feel like I need to read a 200pages manual to be able to play it)

      I wouldn’t give up on the entire series, try Hearts of Iron 2 or Hearts of Iron Darkest Hour edition, both are much simpler and intuitive. You can download it from STEAM but make sure you get the game that says Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron game and not Darkest Hour Europe 44-45, thats and FPS not an RTS.

      Darkest Hour is alot of fun with a much better map then the other HOI games. Also its the only one with a 1914 start date, which is alot of fun.

      @Jermofoot:

      Is it Panzer 88?

      The movies title? I think they were just using a working title because we were told it was called “confession” and I really hope they dont stick with that

      It does appear more and more now that the British curiser in sz91 will survive to UK1, so the question becomes, if it is going to be there on UK1 how do you use it? Or more specifically how does it help the British naval position in the eastern Med?

      The only problem here is that the USA-player will never stay passive when Japan invades DEI. There hardly ever is an imminent threat to him and by entering the war he can take up a more active role in the game. In real life the American Public Opinion was more isolastionistic and therefore the politicians weren’t eager to go to war (unless the nation itself was attacked as happened at Pearl Harbor). So maybe here is a nice optional rule: When Japan attacks the ANZAC/UK at J1, the Americans role a single die and when it hits 2 or less they enter the war. When Japan declares war on J2, the Americans again role a die and when it hits 4 or less the Americans go to war. After J3 America automatically opens the Pacific theatre. Maybe, or maybe not.

      After several more games, that have all ended with my winning, My friends and I have decided to add a number of objectives, and an alliance system to it, to give them game a bit more of a purpose. We have several New national objectives for each of the countries, and we have written up 24 global objectives for players to accomplish to win the game. The thought is to give each player 2 or 3 global objectives and this is what they have to do to win the game. We are going to be spending all friday night and saturday day play testing these out. God Help me!  :wink:

      It is amazing how when ever I press someone of detailed information, like a turn by turn move and buy list, to back some stratgey they are toting as being the best, or to atleast explain it because I dont understand it, the thread im in just dies. Like i’ve asked for too much, wanting people to back up their claims, and it really makes me wonder how many people actually test these things out, ya’know by rolling the dice, before posting.

      I have tested this out and against 2 players it worked fairly well. One player was just a novice, and I got him bogged down in China (and i had this amazing roll for the defense of Hunan it was crazy) However we were only testing and had only setup the Brits, Japan, China and the Soviets, but by turn 3 he was looking at a very tough nut to crack in HK, and a, theroretical anyway, US fleet in wake island where a naval base was to be built, and a huge stack of ftrs and Tacs in the Phillipines.

      The Second player is as seasoned as they come, and we’ve been playing against eachother for years. It worked well agaisnt him because he’s a stubborn git and refuses to build new IC’s, claiming that if he needs one he’ll just go take it from an enemy  :evil:

      The way around this stratgey is to do 2 things as Japan. 1: Make sure you can secure control of yunnan by turn 2, and 2: build a IC in FIC on turn 2, there by, you by pass the Allied position all together, and can make a run right at India and go for the Jugular.

      Has anyone heard of this game? Has anyone played it?

      It sounds like it would play out kinda like a Total War game, but im not sure.

      @SgtBlitz:

      It would be nice if you could actually play the scenario where Germany and Russia remain best buds for the whole game.  It probably would actually have happened like that in real life had Hitler not been such a backstabbing treacherous douchebag.

      Not really Russia was planning on atacking Germany at some point, they just got beat too it.

      @Emperor_Taiki:

      I was looking at the new early war sets at the flames of war stand at GenCon today. The german infantry company with assualt guns looks awesome, but its $200 bucks!

      If you like the Germans you should play them!  :-) But dont feel as though you need to buy the box sets, they sell them in blister packs with one platoon, or vechial as the case my be. Yeah, it might be more cost effective to buy the box, but its a big hit to the wallet!  :evil:  I started my soviets off by buying a box set of 3 full platoons and going from there. When I started playing they only had their first edition rules and they had started in mid war (42-43). I built this mass horde infantry force backed up by huge artillery companies. However it was an unweidly force, very cumbersome to move around and it tended to get shot to sh*t alot! Now, Im going to build a more mobile force of tanks and motorized infantry, and i’ll by fielding them as Guards forces (which are the Soviet elite). Single platoons backed up by hordes of T-34’s, thats the plan anyway.

      @Emperor_Taiki:

      I would like too see a picture of 25 t-34s

      And as soon as I get back to CT i’ll start working on that  :-D So far I have 6 IS-2 Guards Heavy Tanks, I could try and post a pic of them if you like

      So, dose anyone out there play this or any other similar tabletop games?

      For those that dont know, its a game based on batallion level combat during world war 2. There are several different nations you can play as, such as the US, Britian and her empire, Germany Italy and the Soviet Union, along with the minor nations of Hungary, Finland and Roumania.

      I started playing as the soviets during their mid-war series, but I’ve never really been more of a casual player, I like collecting and painting the models more then playing sometimes. I’ve been thinking about branching out into other armies like the Italians and Hungarians. Next month their early-war series will be released allowing people to play as France, and i’ve thought about playing as them too.

      Anyone else play

      p.s intresting how their release seems to mirror that of A&A?  :-D

      hi,
      I’ve been playing A&A for a number of years and through all manner of incarnations. However my gaming group dissolved about a year or 2 ago, just before AAP40 came out. Now I can only get a few friends together sparingly, and none have any real intrest or enthusiasm for playing.

      Is there anyone in this area who would be up playing a few games of AAP40 and its Europe brother when it comes out?
