    • RE: The Existence of God

I’ve discovered in my life that EVERY argument can be countered, every evidence can be denied; except for ONE. If Finsternis doesn’t believe certain things that I say, its his prerogative. What NO ONE can deny of me is this: JESUS, GOD; BLIND, FOOLISH FAITH, WHATEVER YOU CALL IT, HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED WHO I AM. I NO LONGER SWEAR. I CHOOSE TO LOVE. I FORGIVE, EVEN WHEN IT IS HARD.

(and none of these things come from me… you would know this as fact if you knew me before I believed in Christ!)

    • RE: Best Presidents since WWII

Yanny, are you a capitalist? Because if you are, there is NO reason why you should think that Jimmy Carter did anything good for our economy… He was a very moral man, but he also taxed and regulated everything he could. Unempoyment was through the roof and gas prices were insane. He also cut the defense budget by BILLIONS of dollars. Liberals, close your ears, RONALD REAGAN had to come in with A) Large, across-the-board, tax cuts to revive the economy and B) spend $1 TRILLION on defense in just four years… THEN the Soviets fell…

    • RE: My new plan for America, part 2, Tax reform

      A) CC, Bill Gates got wealthy off of HIMSELF. YOU are the one who chose to spend your $ on his products.

      B) Yanny, I whole-heartedly agree with your original post about the abolition of SS. However, that plan simply will not pass Congress. It can be attacked from too many angles. Liberals will complain, “O my God, if you are 54 years old right now, and you vote for Yanny for president, ( eeeeevil Yanny) you will have squandered your own money, our national treasures, killed some ANWR reindeer, supported the cause of SUV owners, ETC.” If, however, you give a longer timetable to the abolition, you could make a convincing argument to the public, and when the voters really get behind it, your Congress will be forced into passing it.

      Keep up the good work.

      C) Don’t get me started on how socialistic the Canadien tax system is…

      D) Has anyone else heard about what Russia did this last January? They implemented a FLAT TAX. (13%!) Can you believe that!? Russia! Of all places! In another ten years, they will understand the American dream better than we can! Anyway, thier economy grew 64% in the first three months… I wonder why. (Reaganomics… which would have made the USSR collapse by '85 if the Congress had been liberal.)

      Xi

      I do play 2-hit…. otherwise it’s a bit ridiculous…

You’re right, I didn’t realize that you meant to keep the battleship in the C Med. That changes things quite a bit. What you said about Japan, though is, I think, the most critical part. Africa might be seen as a battle that is one by the first friend to show up. (Japan and the US race to the center) Japan is still, I believe, the only major reason that the UK would need assistance from the US. (This also adds to the arguement that Japan CAN NOT afford an invasion attempt on California… Africa must be taken…)

Also, about my plan with bringing fighters to S. Africa’s defence…

I usually do a shorter version of your African assistance plan thing, so the UK might be dealing with 2 Japanese inf in Egypt in Round 2, of 4 inf in Round 4. The 2 UK fighters will likely be sent to the Caucasus on UK1. From there, they can hit Egypt and fly south to land… wherever… or they could just go to that African territory and wait for a later attack. Now, if you, as Japan, have 4 inf coming, but not until Rd 4, I will have bunkered down 6 inf, 2 fighters, and maybe a bomber in S. Africa. You will not take the IC, but you will have forced me to abandon my offensive against Germany. Good form. :D The US will have to deal with the Nazis, now. This distracts the US from European invasion for 3-6 rounds, and when you can do that, you are tipping the scales in your favor.

I wish I had an opponent like you that I could play against live. :)

    • RE: Axis strategy if Japan falls to US

      KC,

I would love to beat, err, play against you.
If YOUR strategy as Germany never changes, then there is a big problem. When you play against a Britain who knows what he’s doing, Germany will be UNABLE to take Russia by herself. In 9 out of 10 of my Axis victories, Germany has only 3 or 4 territories left when Japan takes Russia, Karelia, and Africa. (Germany usually has Germany, S. Euro and W. Euro when Japan saves the day)

This is with endlessly stacked infantry and a strong Luftwaffe. If you, as Germany, can do significantly more, than you need better oponents.

      Maybe me. :D

    • RE: The Next Super Power!

      Here’s a controversial idea…

The superpower of tommorow is wherever the Christian Church is strong today.

      Examples: USA, UK, late Rome.

    • RE: The Existence of God

      To Moses and especially Finsternis,

The Bible says something about those who desire to see something with their own eyes before they believe it.

“From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see His invisible qualities– His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20 NLT

But this doesn’t help you at all, because you don’t believe in the correctness of the Bible… so here’s one for you. Set aside all religious texts, all memories or knowledge of organized religion altogether… and find a good spot in nature somewhere so that it’s peaceful and quiet. Talk to “any general God who may or may not exhist,” and ask Him to prove to you who He is. Wait for an answer, but do not look at events, looking for a “sign.” Gods says that ALL who earnestly seek Him will find Him.
Seeking out God with all that is in you is a wise move. If there were a God, wouldn’t you want to know it? If He doesn’t show up, then He simply doesn’t exhist.

    • RE: USA stratgey

      Xi,

If an opponent used this against me, I would do 3 main things…

      A) STILL build an IC in S. Africa.—With this plan, you are 2 moves away from S. Africa, which to me means 4 inf. (and a fighter or 2 flown in.)

      B) Send my bomber at your 2 defenceless trannies. ( the odds are in my favor, especially if your fighter missed my sub, and I send that in also)

      C) Dominate the North Atlantic. Your lone battleship is now within range of 2 Brit fighters and 1 trannie. Germany can’t afford to replace anything like it in the water, so with my domination, I will resupply Africa from the north, crushing your forces from 2 sides.

Summary: 4 doomed Nazis in Africa with NO BACKUP IN SITE.

Please reply to this, Xi. Healthy criticism usually forces me to think harder and strengthen my strategies. Thanx.

    • RE: Need Advice on playing Axis side

      A) Panderson, you are most welcome. :D

      B) Under no circumstances should the UK lose control over greater Africa to the Germans! Let me explain why…

G1: Battleship, infantry-loaded transport attack brit sub, with both infantry landing in Egypt. Those two join with the tank and inf from Libya. E. Euro fighter moves into Egypt, bomber also.

Setup: 3 inf, 1 arm, 1 fighter, 1 bomber, + Battleship pot shot

      VS,

      1 inf, 1 arm.

The odds are that the battle will last only one round, and that Germany MIGHT lose 1 infantry…

For the sake of argument, we will say that they did. How can the UK retake Egypt?

UK1: 2 inf from India via transport to Egypt, Iraqi inf to Egypt, India’s fighter and UK bomber to Egypt.

      Setup: 3 inf, 1 fighter, 1 bomber VS. 2 inf, 1 arm.

The odds are that the UK will take Egypt, but lose 2 of the 3 inf. The German transport does still exhist, so how has the UK truly won? THIS IS HOW. At the end of UK1, place an IC in S. Africa. On UK2, use the fighters and bomber to take out the battleship and trannie. Africa status… Nazi safe, Jap warry…

      A) Finsternis, if you take away all weapons, a murderer will kill people with a wrench, then your society will be a much diferent one… one where all the victims probably aren’t allowed to own wrenches…

      B) Read a British newspaper. Then tell me how well their 41 year-old socialized health care is working for them.

    • RE: Will the U.S. and China eventually come into conflict?

This is the deal: all American wars for the last century were, in principle, defensive ones. If China invaded its nieghbors, we COULD and WOULD bomb their armies a step past pergatory, because the US doesn’t want their land. On the other hand, China would never nuke South Korea, something that they DO want…

And a side note… I’ve studied about what China’s military was like in the late sixties… if the US HAD BEEN ALLOWED to win the Vietnam war, we could have sent 10 Divisions, (Which we DID have) fought north along the coastline, turned left, and NOT STOPPED UNTIL TURKMENISTAN. China coulda shoulda woulda been toast.

    • RE: Christian Bible - Truth or Lies?

      A) The “Nature of Human Beings” as the Bible describes is exactly how you say it is. We desire sex outside of marriage, we want to let out a loud obscenity when we stub our toe, and we want to generally look out for Number One. The Bible, however, never claims that doing right is natural. The Bible is clear that doing right ( at least, Biblical Morals) is very difficult and can only be done consistently with direct assistance from God. Our “Nature” didn’t even KNOW WHAT wrong was at first. Then Adam and Eve ate of the tree of THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL. From then on, all humanity had what Christians call a sin nature… a NATURAL tendency towards ones one ways… it is natural…

      B) Finsternis… If you throw away all religion, what foundation can declare a difference between premarital sex and adultery? Neither is wrong, IF YOU SAY SO. Who am I, or who is CC to tell you otherwise?

If the fact that the sky is blue causes me to be subject to a God, then I will tell myself and others that it is green until I believe it. “Now I am comfortable.” And then I think… “If the sky is green, will that tree over there now subject me to God?”

Over 55 years ago in WW2, SINGLE MINUTES went by where more than 200,000 bullets were flying through the air. How long could it really take to mow down a Commie army that we could already Daist-cut to smitherines ahead of time?

    • RE: My early game strategies

      Guest,

The purpose of attacking at Pearl is not to take IPC’s… you don’t do that anyway. The primary purpose is to deny the US a Round 1 Carrier… especially with the idea that he can use it against Japan. You must crush his naval fleet while you can, and along with it, his ideas of Pacific domination.

    • RE: Need Advice on playing Axis side

      A) If the UK has already established an IC in S Africa, only Japan can take it out. Abandon Africa, and the UK will roll 2 tanks eack turn toward Asia without building up infantry, japan brings 4 inf on 2 transports with one of its battleships from French Indochina to Egypt. While the UK assumes that they have a new target to send tanks at, Japan, on the next move, will throw everything at the complex via transport. Now, at least the axis have Africa for a while. 8)

      B) Only an IDIOT would ever think that he can hold off the US navy with Nazi airpower! Its a nice idea, but it is not fiscally possible. Out over water, a fighter is A 12 IPC TANK!!! If Germany can afford this, then God bless him, because the allies are complete baffoons.

      C) If the Soviets hand you Karelia, then take and enjoy it; but if the Russian player has his fourth brain cell securely in place :P , you will not be able to do it.

      Happy Gaming! :D
