What does everyone want/wish to see as far as the 4 new sculpts? Personally I would like to see UK, Russia, Italy and Germany get the 1940.2 artillery sculpts.

For A&A AE 2008 UK and Russia had the 105mm US artillery, Italy had the Japanese type 92 70mm artllery and Germany had the 88mm artillery which in 1940.2 and 1942.2 is their AA gun.

      @JDOW:

I am very much convinced that USA focussing on reinforcing Russia is a bad idea because it is totally ineffient.

All what Japan has do it is to more or less ignore the threat. Either just block Amur/Korea which it will easily be capable of or even concede korea/Manchuria temporarily.

In the meantime Japan will just easily bash India because it has not to worry about DEI or losing transports. USA has way more important jobs to do than focussing on sending units to eastern Russia.

I agree. I think the UK should help Russia via the Middle East, and the US should focus on the DEI…

Volko Ruhnke took a lot of ideas from Twilight Struggle.  But the two do play quite differently from each other despite their similarities.

Well…  I initially didn’t want to do a bid because two of the players were completely new to G40.2, and I don’t like using non-standard rules with new players.  However, Axis had a stunning first turn due to some great dice rolls and sub-optimal play from the UK player.  So Ichabod insisted that the Allies get 20 IPCs to make the game more interesting.

Check out this pic from the event.  Let this sink in.  These tables are just the regular tables for gaming at the game store :)

It was quite the coincidence that last night I wrapped up a solo game of Andean Abyss with the Colombian government as the victor on the same day that the FARC signed a historic cease fire.

Has anyone else played this game?

I was able to obtain 3d-printed markers on shapeways. They are translucent plastic. Very small, but with good detail.

The Capital Set (all nations) is $25 USD and includes the following:

      Germany - Reichstag Building
      Japan - Imperial Palace
      Italy - Coliseum

      U.K. - Westminster Palace
      U.S. - Capitol Building
      U.S.S.R. - St. Basil’s Cathedral
      FEC - Taj Mahal
      ANZAC - Sydney Harbor Bridge
France - Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe

When I bring them out for a game, folks are always impressed.

      They’re great games!

COIN stands for COunter INsurgency.  Each of the games are 4 players, and they are card drive war games.  But the way the cards work is there is an event on it.  The person’s whose turn it is can either execute the event, or they can choose a unique ability they have for their faction.  And whatever this player chooses, affects what the next person can do.

For example, say Player 1 executes the event.  Now Player 2 can only pass or choose one other their unique operations.

It probably sounds really complex, but it’s really not.  Each faction has a unique win condition and asymmetrical abilities.  Lots of fun!

Check out a review video of Cuba Libre sometime!

They have a turn, I believe, before the US player. The US player usually controls them, but they are still play as their own country. They have their own rules, which you will need to study.

You don’t necessarily have to have the Chinese dice, but is cool to own them, if you can get them.

      I hope this helps. :-D

In my group we generally skip the tech development. To my opinion too it is unbalancing the game for one player. It feels more like a fair fight to play without the tech development.

This will sound silly, but I thought of a cool idea for a tournament/triathlon type event between two friends who are into war gaming.  Basically you’d play the best of the three following games:

Idea 1:  Axis and Allies 1914, Axis and Allies (any edition), and Twilight Struggle

Idea 2: Axis and Allies (any edition), Twilight Struggle, and Fortress America

      Thoughts?
