Young Grasshopper, you seem pretty hell bent on making house rules for this game…. I think the game is fairly balanced as is.

To me it depends if you are doing a strategy that, at its core, is all about running down the probe deck.  If I am, then I will use that mission as long as there are at least 8 units on the Rebel Base space.  If not, then I think moving ships around is better.

I think all Imperial strategies fall into one of two camps: Search & Destroy or Highly Targeted Sweeps.  That mission supports the latter of those strategies.

Try just rereading them.  Things will pop out more now that you’ve played a few games.

They don’t have the rights for TWD.  So it’s basically a knock off them :)

I’m still just not seeing it  :-(

For me, Dead of Winter (especially with the raiders expansion module) captures the Walking Dead theme for me, in terms of people being the real threat.

I just don’t see the Rebellion engine working with Walking Dead.  That theme is more semi-coop that wargame.  But you could sway me!  Could you give me more details as to what you are thinking?

The best Walking Dead game so far is Dead of Winter!  Have you played that?

To clarify, just 1 rep point each time the base is found.  The linear progression would dramatically favor the empire.

I actually do like your house rule for finding the rebel base.  If there is an imbalance in the game, it does slightly favor Rebels in my opinion.

No, the base does NOT have to be revealed to move a unit from it to its corresponding system or a system adjacent to the planet that contains the rebel base.

Revealing the base does NOT automatically give its corresponding system Rebel loyalty.  Moreover, Rebels do NOT have an equivalent of Subjugation.  So simply landing a Rebel Trooper on a planet will NOT give it Rebel loyalty.  You will have to use a mission card to give a system Rebel loyalty.

That they can’t do.  I would think of it like this.  The Rebel Base space represents like a continent on the planet.  That continent may be Rebel Loyal, but the planet is a whole may or may not be.

No cards required.  You don’t technically reveal the base.  If the Rebel base is on Naboo (for example), you can move ships from the Rebel Base space to a system adjacent to Naboo with an activation.  But it pretty much tells your opponent where the base is.

    • RE: Star Wars Rebellion

I have tipped my hat to my opponent where the Rebel Base was because I needed to gang up on a Star Destroyer that was in an adjacent system and there were 2 Mon Cals at the Rebel Base.  So I moved them from the Rebel Base space to the Star Destroyer and opened up a can!  Next turn I had to jump bases…

    • RE: Star Wars Rebellion

The Rebel Base does NOT count as a system.  Thus if the Rebel Base was on Naboo (for example), the planet on the map would need Rebel loyalty to complete that objective.

Yes, they count towards your hand limit.

Have you been dumping all of the units at the system where the base is once they change systems?  For example if there are a crap ton of units on Yavin 4 and then move to Hoth, the units do NOT go to Hoth.  They stay on Yavin 4.

I find having to start fresh makes it easier for the Empire to destroy the base when they find it again.  I crushed a player as the Empire once even after they changed their base twice.

Having said all that, a -1 rep each time they change bases is better than a summation loss of rep points.

That may tilt the game too much into the Empire’s favor…  Let us know what your findings are.
