RE: [Global 1940] Blitz After Attacking With No Casualties
@Vendetta said in [Global 1940] Blitz After Attacking With No Casualties:
My proposal is this: tanks (and any other blitzing unit) are only prevented from blitzing if they fight a battle where the defenders inflict at least one casualty on the attacking force - i.e. if you invade that territory with 1 infantry and kill him, and he doesn’t land a hit on you, your tanks are then free to invade one more territory.
Tanks become much scarier when you play this way - you won’t be sure what exactly it takes to stop them, and you can never be 100% certain that a breakthrough is impossible. Defense in depth remains a valid strategy - but now you have to think more about how strong of a blocking force to leave behind in your front line territories.
I think the Path to Victory modification, with its expanded number of Eastern Front territories, would especially benefit from this rule
Good idea. Will use this to build off both for this and for Destroyer screens.

RE: Grasshopper’s Dice & Cards (A&A Gaming Accessories)
@Young-Grasshopper I love these cards. Would it be possible to add to them? We’ve incorporated some optional rules and National objectives have been added and changed.
Or could I pay your for your PDFs and then I could craft my own and send them to a printer? Thanks!

RE: Dallas area players wanted
@MAG will tonight not work for you? We generally decide the day of or night before we are going to play, so any opportunity to come play or learn the optional rules we use will be on short notice.
Let me know so I will know whether to expect you.
Thanks,

RE: Hello from Dallas,
Hi Cary,
The ideal situation would be to have 7 players. Russia, Britain (West) and France, Britain (East), Anzac, China, USA, Germany, Japan and Italy. If we have 5 then 3 allied and 2 axis. When we play with 3, 2 are allied and one is Axis. But, we are really adamant that all players are laid back and more interested in having fun than winning. We all try to win, but when it gets heated, we take a step back and drop a die to decide. Everyone has to be willing to accept the decision of either the die or an arbitration of the rule. Some will go a person’s way, some will not…
We really cannot have anger, knocking things about, throwing dice or being aggressive. Most of the pieces are hand painted (I’m consistently adding to the mass) and we really want to have fun.We don’t require that everyone show up to each gathering, but those who don’t show, need to understand that their faction(s) will be played by others in their absence.
So I will defer to you as to how many people or which ones you think would fit well in what I describe.
If you are close to FM, perhaps you and those friends might want to come to my house on Saturday or Sunday this coming weekend and I can introduce you to new units and rules.
I am in the process of trying to capture all of the rules in a single document, but that is not complete. Because we are more interested in having fun, we give grace when mistakes are made and things are overlooked.
The new units and rules that may or may not be new to you:- R&D technologies with 19 different technologies to be researched by the various protagonists. Reseach advancement costs IPCs and a die roll to determine degrees of success.
- Oil, Oil derricks, Oil refineries. Oil generates additional IPCs each turn.
- National objectives bonuses. There are multiple objectives per protagonist and achieving these generate additional IPCs each turn.
- Rail movement.
- Siberian Railroad
- Spies
- Mobile artillery
- Heavy artillery
9 Marines - Airborne troops
- Heavy tanks
- Tank destroyers
- Heavy Tank destroyers.
- SS and Guard Infantry
- SS and Guard Mech infantry
- SS and Guard Tanks and Heavy Tanks
- Advanced Fighters
- Jets
- Heavy Battleships
- Heavy Cruisers
- Heavy Carriers
- Entrenchments
- Fortifications, Naval forts and Atlantic wall fortifications.
- Event cards- typically used to affect a single battle, or movement, or unit build.
- Action cards- an affect that lasts the entire turn, might affect all protagonists, but generally tend to be regional.
- Advanced submarines and wolfpacks.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some and the R&D technologies encompasses some of what I mention above and many others not mentioned.
Give me a call or text at 972, 768 4149 or write my email so that we more easily communicate.

RE: Hello from Dallas,
What Cary said. I’m 62 and the 2 guys who compete on the other side are 22 and 25. All we ask is emotional maturity and a sense of decorum. The rules can sometime seem a bit overwhelming, but we provide infinite grace with the goal of just having some fun and maybe a little male bonding. Planning a game for the weekend of the 27th.
shoot me a note if you’d like to join.

@jonathan-rost,
we play Global 40 as well, and a pretty consistently revolving basis- essentially as soon as a game ends we begin a new game shortly afterwards. We are in the DFW area and if you are truly interested in making the trek. -

RE: Hello from Dallas,
@Cary1234 Hi, we have a group up in Flower Mound playing Global 40. Lots of extra units, event and action cards and optional rules. Very laid back and informal. Game has its own room so stays set perpetually. Usually takes us 2 or 3 gatherings to complete a game, but we just stop when the first person has to leave and rejoin when we can all get back together. Game just sits until then.
Let me know if you’re interested

RE: My custom Battle Board
Quite nice.
Couple questions, if you’re willing.- Where did you order this from once you sent them the PDF image to print?
- Where did you get the silhouettes you used to make the images in each of the hit number categories?
I am particularly interested in finding the various silhouettes you used. Please share that if you’re willing.
Thanks,
Chris
