I personally like Germany to have France.

RE: Russian eastern infantryposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
As we have all seen Russian Far East troops are good in both theaters. SO! Split them up! It is the best way. (Just an example as I am no way recommending this) keep 6 infantry in Amur/Buryatia 6 infantry and 2 AA in China(from west) and. 6 infantry going to Moscow. Strategies like this are the best.

The Eatsern Front is not a great theater. I wish the game would allow for more action in this area.

I agree. Even with occasionally taking out Normandy or Southern France, I have always taken out Paris G1

Another interesting scenario that happens sometimes is when Russia takes Germany out and Japan takes US out.

RE: Europe 40 or Pacific 40?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
(Please note I am biased; I only own Europe but I play more than once a week with a friend’s Pacific for Global)
In short, Europe is a bigger, more action, more land-based game compared to Pacific. It takes longer to play(for me). It allows for more players (4) compared to Pacific’s 3. I heard someone say that Pacific allows five players…Really? China is nothing. Players get bored playing China ANZAC and France. Anyway in my games Pacific seems slanted toward the Axis quite a bit. Europe is slanted toward the Allies a little bit. Global game is slanted toward the Axis a little bit. Pacific is simpler. Many new comers will graft to Naval warefare quicker. There is also only one new Naval unit compared to three new land units (in 1941).
Although it appears you have already purchased, I reccommend Pacific first to most players. If you do not plan on buying both eventually get Europe. -
RE: Losing France Capitol on First Turn.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
A strategy employed by one of the players in my group is for Germany to strafe France 2 combat rounds and then let Italy finish it off. This really boosts Italy at the sacrifice of Germany.

1941 EXTREME mod 5.1 (adds nations and units of 1940)posted in House Rules
This is a mod which changes some rules and adds many more pieces to the setup. It uses the pieces and countries of 1940. I would love for everyone to try it and give their opinion.
Rules changes:
All units are added from 1940 2nd Edition except air and naval bases. ICs printed on the map are not used; ICs from 1940 are used instead. Strategic bombing raids can be done against these. No new ICs can be built. Units such as carriers and battleships which have different rules in 1941 compared to 1940 keep the rules of 1941.All spaces are worth double their printed value. Countries start with double IPCs as well.
Italy: Italy is its own power now. It receives control of Southern and Western(ahistorical but the best I can do) Europe. Italy’s capital is in Southern Europe.
ANZAC: ANZAC is its own power now. It receives control of Australia, East Indies(ahistorical again), New Guinea, Sllolomon Islands, and New Zealand. Its capital is in Australia.
China: China is its own power. China must stay in China. China may only purchase infantry and artillery. China may deploy anywhere in China(Northwestern China, Szechwan, Manchuria, and Coastal China). If all four of these are captured by Allies, China gets control of all of them and may build all units (anywhere in China) and may move out of China. The US may give China as many IPCs as it wants; however China may only purchase one unit with US funds per turn. If all China is controlled by Axis, US gets China’s IPCs.
France: France is its own power now. France receives control of France(note that this has been captured) West Africa, Equatorial Africa, and Madagascar. France is considered an originally controlled territory of France. If France is liberated France assumes control and places one infantry there(this happens each time France is captured). Note that if France is liberated by Alllies and Germany takes it back, Italy will NOT assume control as it is an original French territory.
Anything blunt or unspecified should be corrected. Feel free to ask me abut any rules.
Note that the setup is really three setups in one: the original, the setup pictured on the back of the box, and the units I added. A bit crowded. It plays well but some problems are still here. Please try it out and give me feedback.

If US is going 100% Pacific and UK is running wild in Africa, Germany only has to deal with Russia. Easy win.

I haven’t even close to as much as experience as you in time length; however, I do play a little bit 5 days a week…

RE: First time playing Germanyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
My preference is to always build a fleet G1 and G2. Carriers, destroyers, transports, and subs are all great for threatening Sea lion the transports are good for Barberossa and the fleet for the US. Simultaneously you are threatening the UK Russia and making it harder for the US. Always give yourself the sea lion option bombing London is essential. Russia is your main goal most of the time but don’t ignore the oncoming Allied hordes. Help out Italy as if you don’t they get destroyed in everywhere but Italy. Make sure you get your NOs in Russia as fast as possible after attacking. Attack G2 3 or 4. It depends upon what the UK is doing. Good luck! Germany is tough to win with but very fun!

RE: Playing Timeposted in Axis & Allies 1941
I am getting 1942SE for Christmas, I think perhaps no doubt this will take longer still! Yes it will Grhm. Typically a whole day of fun to look forward to.
This explains why New Years is A&A players favorite day of the year. You can start in the morning and end in the morning lol. No joke though….this past new year celebration I started a game with some friends at around 10 A.M. taking brakes for meals and celebrations totallying about 4 hrs and we didn’t stop until 3 in the morning. Of course–Global 1940

RE: Just Bought 41posted in Axis & Allies 1941
Greetings! Good to know that you are spreading this wonderful game to your family! I myself am only 15. On my twelfth birthday I received 1941. I knew nothing about it but my love for ww2 toy soldiers and strategy games made me totally appreciate it. I played my first game with my sister doing tons of wrong rules lol. This experience has made me an excellent teacher of the game. I have taught 3 siblings, my dad and at least 10 friends. Panic is totally right. Same thing I do. At first explain the basic concept than dive right in. 1941 is the best place for it. You should stress that the main points of this game are unit price attack defense and move values and the chess mentality–anticipating moves and seeing deep into the game. The rest comes as you play. Hope you have a good time! It is great to know there are other non-adult A&A players being introduced!

RE: Central Powers Navy?posted in Axis & Allies 1914
Here is my naval CP strategy:
Germany: t1 crush both British Atlantic fleets t2 build enough(or none)fleet to hold off Allies and retreat to Kiel(cant remember SZ number). After this I vary what I do. This is my mentality: every extra ship I force Britain to buy diverts them from Turkey and it also diverts France from AH Navy. Downside is of course reduction in land units for you. I only purchase the most a battleship per turn (I feel subs are not as good) unless I get a golden opportunity.AH stay put unless u get a golden opportunity. Do not build navy unless someone threatens you(even then sometimes it is not worth it).
OE: just hope you get left with a single cruiser. If you don’t do not build navy unless you have condiserable income or you have a golden opportunity. lf you do keep the cruiser (or really lucky 2) build battleship t1 but only if it can survive a couple turns.

RE: Which Country To Cut Off?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
If you are going to invade neutrals you need a big reward(such as Middle East for Axis and the abillity the to invade Europe by land e.g. US attacking Spain) otherwise it is very detrimental.
As for invading the US…more people joke about it than really try but here is a way that has worked for me( keep in mind that I, my opponents, and teammates were not very skilled when I did this; believe or not I lost a game holding Washington once):
Turn one and two threaten sea lion while building a substantial navy of warships and transports. This keeps UK in check: Russo is in a quandary; US builds navy. T3 dependiing upon the US buys (most of the time you can’t to this) move to Gibraltar. T4 attack US coast and East US. This is a very little chance. It works better in Global if the US is concentrating elsewhere. US has two easy ways to stop you: either stack Washington or build a big enough Navy to rival yours. It really only works if US has little defence and you haven a substantial navy. Once when US build 4 bombers among other units, it worked due to their lack of defense.
I consider this to always be an option but most players will know khow to prevent this. -
RE: Transportposted in Axis & Allies Classic
Your opponent may scramble if you are making an amphibious assualt in that zone. If you are making a noncombatant move your opponent may not scramble.

An excellent map. My complements. :-D

RE: Transportposted in Axis & Allies Classic
Greetings!
You CAN offload in a sea zone containing only enemy submarines if it is NOT an amphibious assault. If ut is an amphibious assualt you CANNOT offload unless you have friendly SURFACE warships in the same zone. You CAN load troops in a sea zone containing only enemy submarines at ALL times.
You CANNOT offload in a sea zone containing enemy submarines with only your transports. You need an escorting SURFACE WARSHIP as well.
You CAN offload with your transports + aircraft carrier.
I hope this helps you!
