Dont forget that Amur is not the only way. You could go by Iceland and of course the Middle East.

I will always love it. How Classic is for many older players, 1941 is for me.

Exactly. When only had 1941 I had eight German infantry. When I got Europe 1940 I had 48 in total! 6x difference.

Interesting ideas. I wonder how much you will hurt the Axis in exchange for making it easy for them. Many planes = few ships = easier on Axis. But does Japanese losing 9 IPCs from Java make up for it? Interesting.

Don’t you like the new setup for 2nd Edition?

There are three things that affect strategy. You and your opponents/teammates, the setup, and the dice.
Because there is no affect of dice G1 for instance, the only factors are you and the setup. This comes down to the fact that the setup offers some moves and you pick the best one.

What really sells 1940 to me are the units. Tanks and infantry are boring. I also like the other countries. What would be great is 1940 units and countries but without the complicated political situations NOs and huge number of units. I made a mod of 1941 that incorporates 1940 units and countries;maybe you can take a look at it. Btw to us a youngster is my nine-year-old brother.  He almost has every rule of 1940 down. Me and my friends call him Little Guy wih Big Ambitions. The oldest player in my group is my 52 year old dad. Most of us are under 18.

Are you saying that you play Anniversary 1942 with 1942 2nd Edition rules?

That is one of Germany’s best options. The problem is that Russia can have a ton of units before you can even start bombing moscown

    • What is your favorite version of A&A?

Greetings! If you had to pick one of these as your favorite which would it be? Mine is 1940 2nd Edition but I also love the three variants of this by Larry and Oztea. I love 1940  :-D

I have always had trouble with purchasing the rift units for Russia. Particularly when Germany goes (or fakes) Sea lion.

Thanks. Germany clobbered the Allies anyway so its ok that we let the UK get that. Btw I see we are on page127 of the Faq. That is the last Sea zone in the game so I guess its the last page Imogen questions allowed just joking. :-D

    • RE: Global 1942 Scenario by Larry Harris

This version is great but after dozens of games I have been disappointed. It seems Allies have an advantage in Europe and Japan has an advantage in Pacific. Russia crushes a lot of German forces in the beginning while Italy has it pretty tough in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Japan is way too strong and always takes India. The only possible remedy is if the US focuses more on Japan alleviating the European Axis and the Pacific Allies. Am I missing something?

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

I have a question which I cannot find an answer to in the rulebook. So here is what happened. The UK has a carrier with a fighter in SZ 91. They attacked a German fleet in 109 with that carrier and fighter plus some more air units. Germany had a battleship cruiser and sub. Germany chose to not submerge its sub since no British unit could hit it. It missed the carrier but the Brits sunk all other Axis ships. Now the Brits have one carrier and some planes and Germany had a sub. What happens? I am assuming that Britain can ignore the sub and stay there without Germany’s sub getting to fire at it until Germany’s turn? Or does Britain have to retreat or face the sub getting the defenseless carrier? That sounds too bazaar so we played that Britain can ignore the sub but do the rules clarify this? Thanks.

    • RE: KGF and Japan

The key to success as the Allies(particularly the US)  IS properly splitting between E and P. You cannot leave one side without any help unless the other Allies have it somewhat under control. Since the Axis can win doing well one only one side, you have to be careful. It is generally best to stop them on both sides.

    • RE: Central Powers Navy?

Sadly this game does require some house rules for balanced. I like to add all the minor alligned powers (and Greece since hey were allied) as seperate entities. It helps the CP and makes a gunner game.

It is a totally different game. Luck can mean everything. Its main pros are simplicity and short game play.
I would take 1940 over any other however. I am glad that my first game was 1941. A good starter to keep on hand for short gaming sessions. I never played 1942.

Do you ever buy artillery early? It can make it hard for Germany to attack Baltic States Poland or Bessarabia.
