    • RE: Different 1941 from Anniversary

      Greetings!
      Some. Notes:
      Tanks cost 6 now because they attack at three and defend at three.
      In earlier versions when tansk cost 5, it was because they defended at 2.

      This game is a bit ahistorical (Japanese were not that deep in Asia) but had conquered many Pacific Islands.
      Remember this: this game was made to fast and simple so that’s why some things aren’t how they usually are.
      As for artilllery it is really easy to add and gives Russia some nice help. I have several house rule setups that include units like artillery.  Of course the game is probably more like its supposed to be–fast simple-- without then.

      BTW I would love to hear your 1914 rules. I have a game of that going right now.

      @bhard:

      @ShadowHAwk:

      You can move air over friendly neutrals.

      Carriers move and then the planes can move 4 spaces from that location ( effective range 6 or 7 )

      Transports can unload into 2 zones at the same time.

      You can do naval battle and then still do bombardment.

      I thought you were allowed to move an aircraft carrier and then move the planes 4 spaces

      You may not. Each unit must use a movements point every time you move. A good way to remind yourself is to take all air units off your carriers before moving. This way its obvious that the planes have to use a movement point.

      Here is one YG that I had to correct many times:
      You may not move units in both the combat and noncombatant phases unless that is an air unit.

      So many times people have tried to attack with take/mechs and then move again. Same problem with sea units.

    • Best way to divide a three player game.

      How do you like to split up the players?I am starting to think that the player of UK/ANZAC needs China as well for best results. Thoughts?

    • RE: Germany: Dark sky strategy

      The greatest thing about bombers is their range. One game I had almost ten bombers in western Germany, was right next to Moscow gathering all my NOs, wassail threatening London with transports, and forcing the US to keep building heavy on sea units. Next turn I toke Moscow and London and with a big bomber purchase, made it a suicide mission for the US to liberate UK. He did and then I countered sacking UK’s IPCs again. Allies toke Japan that turn as well :/ So what turned into a week long game ended with me building an IC in captured Manchuria(yes I got that far!) And taking Japan with a transport or 2 and my now 20+ bombers.

      If you are going to help Germany vs Russia go by Persia(if you are doing well) or send a tank or two and some mechs + your S bomber.

      @Nippon-koku:

      @Charles:

      Has anyone else tried a naval base on a conquered Palau island? Real game breaker if you can hold your ground.

      Interesting.  My only question: other than getting to Malaya in one turn, why is that spot any better than Caroline Islands?

      My bad I meant Dutch Guinea(don’t have the map;misplaced my bounds)
      Your argument still stands though. Caroline islands already has a naval base making it a much more viable place. Dutch New Giunea can reach India, all money islands, and most of the coast. Bad points are the 15 IPCs of course it takes and the loss of threatening Japan. Is it worth it? Ideas?

    • RE: Europe 40 or Pacific 40?

      @teslas:

      @Charles:

      The poll shows that Europe is preferred.

      My cat’s breath smells like cat food.

      lol

      @Kreuzfeld:

      I voted pacific I think it is a more fun game.

      However, Europe is the game that is most similar to all the other axis-games ever made. In most axisgames the conventional visdom is Kill germany first. That means making a transporbridge to get the american troops to mainland europe. Then it is usually a race between killing germany and japan killing russia.

      In europe 1940, you basically play KGF scenario.

      Not kill Italy first?

      Side note:
      When playing Pacific, player 1 is Japan, player 2 US, and player 3 is UK and ANZAC undoubtedly.
      But who should get China? Player 2 or player 3?

      Great idea for a change of pace. Note that in my opinion the Allies get a boost in Europe played alone and Axis get a boost in Pacific played alone.

      Good point. Most of you play online for the most part, but I have a real game set up 24/7 always ready to be played. I never played online.

    • RE: Question about Russian Spread of Communism NO

      Neutrals as YG and Herr KaLeun stated do not add to the Russian NO period. Whether or not you want to include Africa middle East and Sicily is allowed by the rules however I can understand if you don’t want to play that way.

    • 1914 Biplanes for WW 2

      Did you ever think it would be neat to include the biplanes of 1914 with changed rules in 1940? 1941? 1942? Why not? It would be a representation of some older planes as well as a optional choice for that nation that cant put out all that money for a fighter. So how do we do it? Use the Biplanes of 1914. There are eight colours. Just enough for 1940 if you don’t let China get any(or you could). I would suggest using the pieces in any way that is easy(like German ww1 for German ww2 or German ww1 for ANZAC since it is similar coulour.)  Biplnaes represent the old fighters (of Germany etc) or Torpeodo bomber(like British ones) or others.
      Rules:
      Cost: 8
      Attack: 2
      Defense: 2
      Move: 4
      Anything unspecified is the same as for fighters.(including the abillity to support tacs and to scramble, intercept, and escorted)
      Special: you may fit one Biplane on an unddamaged battleship. All rules pertaing to planes on carrier apply. You may put three biplanes on a carrrier provided that there are only biplanes on the carrier.
      Biplanes attack at a three if attacking a surface vessel.
      Thoughts ideas? Do they sound useless? Too strong?
      Here is a possible setup addition for 1940:
      Germany:
      Poland:  1 biplane
      Western Germany: 1 biplane

      Soviet Union:
      Karelia: 1 biplane

      Japan:
      Japan: 1 biplane
      SZ outside Japan: 1 biplane on battleship
      SZ outside Okinawa: 1 biplane on battleship
      Manchuria: 1 biplane(only if giving China a biplane)

      US:
      Hawaii: 1 biplane
      SZ (Outside Western US): 1 biplane on battleship

      China:
      Suiyuan: 1 biplane(optional)

      UK
      Scotland: 1 biplane
      SZ 98: 1 biplane on carrier
      India: 1 biplane

      Italy:
      SZ 97: 1 biplane on battleship

      ANZAC:
      New South Wales: 1 biplane.

    • RE: Dice or Low Luck??

      This was a really tough choice and is a tough choice every time I play. Dice makes things so much more fun but nobody likes losing because of dice. Forget the rolling part of it(unless you you don’t shake your rolls enough which I will gladly point out) it’s all about gameplay. Having dice makes things more interesting, nerve-racking, different every time, and strategicly engrossing. Of course there are bad parts such as extending an already long game, losing when your stratehy was better, and getting your blood pressure up(lol).
      So what did I pick? Dice. Why?  Well a few months ago I would say low luck but after playing dozens of games I notticed low Luck was doing something terrible! It was making things repetitive and I was getting bored of the alltime greatest game! So dice it is(I still think that no one shakes their rolls properly)
