    • RE: How to counter these J1-3 opening moves?

      @osu888:

      We are playin 2nd edition; that means he can’t build a MAJOR in this
      Countries?

      You can only build/upgrade to major factories in territories that you originally control.
      In other words, it must be a territory that has your nation’s symbol on it.
      The occupied Chinese territories are considered Chinese original territories since they have China’s symbol, so Japan cannot make Major factories in these territories.

      How would you play that up in Russia then?

      Leaving your far east Russian stack vulnerable to a Japanese attack is a waste. You might as well just move them towards Moscow. If you want to keep your Infantry in the far east, then you need to evaluate what Japan can hit you with.
      I would suggest to move them all to Buryatia on round 1. After that, if Japan isn’t in a good position to wipe out all 18 infantry and 2 AAA, move them to Amur to threaten Manchuria and Korea.

    • RE: AA Guns

      I think the reason why people don’t buy AA guns is that they start out with enough of them.

      @allweneedislove:

      …they are the least flexible and cost inefficient unit.

      They also happen to target planes, without any hits being soaked on infantry.
      One AA gun alone can make an opponent think twice about an attack that needs aircraft to back it up.

      For a unit that can potentially remove powerful units in a battle from the very beginning and deny them shots, 5 IPCs seems like a fair price.

    • RE: Im arguing with a friend on retreat movement!

      @Utgar80:

      Thank you for the help but one thing remains unclear to me. As I said about ships moving 2 spaces for an attack will be able to retreat into a friendly or neutral sea zone adjacent to the attacked zone right? but the rules specifically mentions a territory adjacent from wich at least 1 of the attacking land or sea unit moved. So doesnt that mean that you had to have at least one ship in an adjacent zone of the attacked zone to retreat all of your ships into? Wich would mean that you cannot reatreat ships into a sea zone adjacent to the attacked zone if you did not have at least one ship part of the attack that started into an adjacent sea zone of the attacked zone?  Hope you understand what I mean !

      If I’m understanding this correctly, you’re saying that attacking ships cannot retreat if none of them started off from a sea zone adjacent to the sea zone being attacked?

      If that’s what you’re asking, then…
      That doesn’t matter. If all of your ships used 2 or 3 movement to attack, then they are still eligible to retreat. Just they have to retreat to any one of the adjacent sea zones that they moved through.

    • RE: Is a Major IC Reduced to a Minor IC after been conquered?

      @dan123:

      Is this rule present in 2nd ed. OOB? I’m scanning my rulebook and can’t find where it says to reduce major factories.

      In the Europe 1940 2nd edition rulebook on page 20. The last paragraph.

        • Germany takes France’s money. Doesn’t matter if France didn’t get a turn, they still had money on hand.

    • RE: Filling Transports and leaving question

      A naval base isn’t needed to load transports. A transport can take 2 units from 2 different territories as long as the territory is adjacent to the transport’s sea zone. It can also take 1 unit, move into another sea zone, and load another unit from an adjacent territory.

      And yes, you can use Eastern USA’s Naval base to move the transports to offload in Morocco. Naval Bases serve all friendly ships in sea zones adjacent to the territory that the Naval base is on.

    • RE: AAA and submarines question, in regard to rounds.

      AAA guns fire only at the very beginning of a battle. Then they just do nothing for the rest of the battle, aside from possibly being taken as a casualty.

    • RE: Plastic chips stink

      @Razor:

      Hi you, with the long foreign nick, Larry Harris and his expert playtesters says its enoug chips. If you need more chips than the Master and his expert playtesters, then you do something wrong. This game is not designed for huge infantry stacks that suck up all the chips, it is designed for Blitz krieg and fast aggressive play. Period.

      A&A Spring 1942 didn’t even have enough chips for it’s set-up…
      So, I doubt the amount of chips is due to play testing rather than money-saving.

      Eeyup.
      Though I thought it was more Green than Olive.
      Also it seems ANZAC infantry are darker than the rest of their units…
      Same with Japan… and Italy…
      At least, in my set it is.

    • RE: Photos of the new sculps

      Well, looks like I’ll have to order the yellow-green artillery and fighter neutrals from HBG…
      They just couldn’t make China have its own color artillery and a fighter or two, yet the Europe game has French battleships and aircraft carriers…
      ugh…
