March 6, 1942. Eastern Front
In the Crimea, the Soviets are reinforcing the Crimean Front under Lieutenant General Dmitry Timofeyevich Kozlov for another attempt to pierce the Axis line at the Parpach Narrows. The last attempt failed largely due to Luftwaffe supremacy, so the Red Air Force brings in 581 planes. However, the Soviet planes are largely obsolete while the Luftwaffe has current models. The Soviets also mass 224 tanks, which Kozlov decides to divide up to support individual units rather than use them as a single, powerful striking force. The Germans know the Soviets are likely to attack again, so they are laying 2000 Teller mines near the key Koi-Asan position. The Soviet attack is scheduled for 13 March.

March 25, 1941. Battle of the Mediterranean
It is fair to say that, at this stage of the war, the Italian military has not covered itself with glory. They have been forced back in Albania, East Africa, and North Africa, while the Italian fleet largely has stayed in port. However, there is one area of the military at which the Italians are ahead of everyone: small-scale attacks at sea which can produce big results. However, so far these operations have been cancelled for various technical reasons.
That changes today. Italian destroyers Crispi and Sella each carry three 2-ton motor assault boats from Leros in the Dodecanese Islands. They head for the vicinity of the major British naval base at Suda Bay, Crete. The destroyers release the boats from about 10 miles (18 km) offshore at 23:30. The small boats proceed toward the large Royal Navy ships at anchor in the bay for an attack on the 26th. The prime target is heavy cruiser HMS York.
On land, the German Afrika Korps continues consolidating its recent acquisition of El Agheila. The British have withdrawn to Mersa Brega, which occupies a narrow point between the coast and the rocky interior where larger operations are impossible. The Germans also note that the British have abandoned Maaten Bescer, too, with British patrols in the area west of Mersa Brega vastly reduced.Photo: German tanks in El-Agheila

April 4, 1942. Eastern Front
Siege of Leningrad Day 209. 62 Luftwaffe Stuka dive bombers and 70 other bombers escorted by 59 Messerschmitt Bf-109 fighters attack the Soviet fleet at Kronstadt. Battleship October Revolution is hit 4 times, cruiser Maxim Gorky suffers 7 hits while battleship Petropavlovsk, cruiser Kirov and destroyers Silny and Grozyashchi are also damaged.
Siege of Sevastopol Day 108. German shelling finally destroys Soviet destroyer Sovershenny (under repair after being bombed and capsizing on November 12, 1941).

June 13, 1944 Western Front
On the left of the Allied line, the British 2nd Army continues to attack. The 30th Corps regroups its forces.
A mixed force of tanks, infantry and artillery, based on the 22nd Armoured Brigade of the 7th Armoured Division, tries to take advantage of a gap in the German defences west of the city of Caen by advancing through the gap in a flanking manoeuvre towards Villers-Bocage.
The advance of the 22nd Armoured Brigade stopped when SS-Hauptsturmführer (captain) Michael Wittmann ambushed the British with his Tiger I tank, destroying up to fourteen tanks and fifteen personnel carriers, along with two anti-tank guns, within the space of fifteen minutes.
The rest of the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Battalion attacked the town and were repulsed, losing several Tigers and Panzer IV.To the left, the US 1st Army makes progress towards St Lo and across the Cotentin. Pont l’Abbe is capture in the peninsula. A German counterattack, spearheaded by 17th SS Panzer Division and the 6th Fallschirmjäger Regiment, toward Carentan is held after reinforcements of the 2nd Armoured Division reached the battle.

September 13, 1943. Italy
German troops near Salerno, launch a counter offensive against the recent Allied landings, striking at the region near Battipaglia, pushing US units back toward the beach, and re-capturing Altavilla 14 kilometres northeast of Paestum by nightfall. Allied leadership began to prepare, but did not execute, evacuation plans.

@witt I would edit two of the infantry out and place them somewhere else. That way you could still attack Salvador with the cruiser… just less infantry. but you’d still have nine attacking ground units for Salvador…

25 November 1941
While steaming to cover an attack on Italian convoys, the Queen Elizabeth-class 15in gun Battleship - HMS Barham was hit by three torpedoes from the German submarine U-331, captained by Kapitänleutnant Freiherr Hans-Diedrich von Tiesenhausen. As she rolled over to port, her after magazines exploded and the ship quickly sank with the loss of over two-thirds of her crew.
(841 men lost their lives when this battleship was sunk according to the HMS Barham Association website).

in 1944, “The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot” began during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. U.S. pilots and A.A. gunners destroyed 600+ enemy aircraft. Flying a Grumman F6F Hellcat, Navy ace Lt. Alex Vraciu shot down 6 dive bombers in 8 minutes. Vraciu only used 360 rounds of ammunition, which is a remarkable feat of marksmanship.

@colt45554 that’s not a legal move. It goes over that in the game notes…LHTR Carrier Production Rules: New Fighters etc. can be placed on existing and new Carriers; existing Fighters etc. can be placed on new Carriers only by ending movement in the Sea Zone the Carrier is to be placed (still, combat movement moves cannot be validated assuming landing on yet to be placed Carriers).

During Operation Pedestal which lasted 12 days between 3–15 August 1942 some 48–60 AXIS aircraft were destroyed, during the daring Operation to resupply Malta which was an absolute vital outpost in the Mediterranean Sea Theatre which lay under siege from June 1940 to November 1942

@barnee I read another article about him yesterday (can’t find it now) and it wasn’t very favorable towards him. Apparently some of his decisions in the operation caused more delays for XXX Corps…
