      So, basically when a convoy is raided and you have ASW, for each raiding submarine, you roll:

      one D6+1 compared to the raider’s D6 to see if your convoy loses IPP one D12 against each raiding submarine, hitting on a 1 or 2

      The D12 is a “free Defense roll”, as it does not depend on surface warships or aircraft on MAP being on escrot duty.

      See table 9-8 in the rules for all modifiers, including ASW.

I agree it is hard for the UK navy in the Indian Ocean to compete with the larger Japanese navy. But, if you had coupled that with pressure from the US navy, rather than the unit shuck to Soviet Far East, that might have been a powerful combination.

      Well, I ll explore new stuff in the games to come.

      Yikes! Ok, thanks, again. Making sure everyone updates to the latest version, before starting a new game, is, inevitably, mid-game, for their other games, which would then mess up those games. Installing and running different Triple A versions in different directories sounds like a nightmare to this tech challenged fella. It doesn’t sound like I have a choice, though. Dammit!

      @Ghostglider Thank you. It was a great game! Other than each having late blunders with our European navies, I thought it was a very clean game. Multiple times it felt like one side was losing, only to have that person come back and swing the game in their favor again. It was exhausting, trying to solve the puzzle, but satisfying to pull out the win. I think you are the best player I’ve played this year! Good luck, and Happy New Year!

      Indeed, when I use your savegame the situation appears to be resolved incorrectly.

      However I have recreated similar scenarios using the current TripleA pre-release (2.3.21385) on different maps (including BM3). All of those have been resolved correctly.

      So there was

      a question to attack or not a question to submerge or not correct surprise strike execution

      That brings me to the following conclusion:

      Either there has been an issue with the engine (what I doubt but cannot exclude for sure) but the issue has already been resolved with current versions or there is an issue with your game that contains some triggers that might have somehow messed up the correct resultion of the situation (what I cannot examine in depth, knowing too little about that specific game).

      So I recommend to

      install and run the latest TripleA-version and the latest map-version begin a new game and see if that issue occurs again

      Maybe @regularkid wants to take a look into it, too.

      My bad on this one Panther. I just finished a game where I thought subs were denying the NO, but it seems even when the allied fleets left the Med, there was at least one dd or ac remaining. Sorry about that! :)
