      @Subotai:

      We know that the map territories will be exactly the same as revised. We know that the naval rules from AA50 will be implemented in AA42. It has not been confirmed that all the other rules from AA50 will make it into AA42. My guess is that all rules from AA50 will enter the new AA42, with possible exceptions of the 4 optional rules in AA50.
      At this time it’s only speculations, but it would be cool if also the optional rules from AA50 will replace the current revised rules.

      At least we won’t have a broken China in AA42 :-D :-) :lol: :roll:

      no new territories than revised???
      serious?
      would of loved some changes, like bigger north africa
      but do like 1 thing bout revised map that i hate in AA50: scandinavia
      (5 IPC is to much, and you can’t control it with germany for more than 2 rounds max)

      Purchases: 2 tanks, 7 Infantry

      I honestly haven’t found an effective G1 set of attacks for the 41 scenario, even if I do take Ukraine and the Baltic States, it still feels like a paper thin front, idk maybe someone will come up with a new set of plans for ze Germans.

      ?

      @a44bigdog:

      I could see a problem with this on the board as we have two set ups for the game. Besides does it take that long to learn the set ups? I never look at the cards anymore when I resent my revised board.

      You have a good point there, Bigdog.  Having the map preprinted with setups when you have two different set ups could lead to some confusion.

      Originally, I used to sort my A&A pieces (and pieces from similar games) by keeping them in ziplock plastic bags, with smaller bags inside larger ones to represent subcategories.  It soon became too cumbersome to open bags-within-bags to reach whatever specific kind of piece I needed, so I switched to using translucent plastic tackle boxes with adjustable dividers.  The box dimension I like the best among the many sizes available is 14" by 8.5" x 2" thick.  I get them from the fishing equipment section of local hardware stores, and when necessary I’ve ordered extra dividers from the manufacturer.  I apply white sticky labels to the narrow end of the boxes to identify them when they’re stacked for storage, and the lids are transparent enough for the contents to be easily identifiable when the boxes are spread out for use.

      @captainjack:

      1. Can a blockhouse ALWAYS choose their target, or only when they are firing upon the beach heads?

      Only firing on the beachheads.

      @captainjack:

      2. An artillery is the ONLY ground unit that can return fire on aircraft, correct?

      Correct.

      Usually I leave 1 inf in Manchuria, if Russia stack Buryatia, and attack China with 6 inf and 2 fig. IN NCM move two inf in FIC.

      If Russia retreat to Yakut, I attack china with 6inf and 2 fig and leave 1 inf in FIC, landing there 1 inf and 1 tank and 2 fig.

      what I wanted to try was on J1 attacking Hawaii with an AC, 2 Figs (one from Japan, the other from the AC), a DD and my sub (if it survived).  Fight one round and retreat to SZ57 with at least my AC and 2 Figs (hopfully my DD also).  Everytime I attack Hawaii - heavy or lite, I get lambasted on US1 and lose most if not all my units.  I was thinking about trying this new strategy to avoid this.  Any thoughts?

      2 strats work well at Hawaii.

      1.  Pearl Light.  Sub (if survived), destroyer, 4 fighters, 1 bomber.  Take casualties on sub, destroyer, possible fighter or two.  Japan puts two carriers and battleship at Solomons during noncombat and lands Pearl fighters on carriers.  The US will probably not try to hit the Solomons sea zone unless they go for long range aircraft (yay), or they’re retarded (also yay).  If the battle goes REALLY poorly for Japan, you can always just not move your navy towards Solomons.  Meanwhile, the other Jap battleship stays east of Japan escorting the transport against UK2’s possible naval/air attack.

      UK can mess with this move by moving their UK transport (usually) north from Australia.  (Usually UK blocks with a transport while seding the sub to attack the Jap Solomon sub).  Now Japan either has to attack the UK transport with a battleship, leaving two lone carriers with probable light to medium fighters at Solomons (the US can think about attacking then).  Or Japan has to use a fighter to clear the transport (it’s risky; Japan can lose, and Japan doesn’t really have the air to spare).

      Sometimes you see the UK sending the India fighter plus Solomon sub to try to hit the Jap sub at Solomons; the UK fighter lands on the Hawaii carrier.

      2.  Pearl Heavy.  You send everything in reach.  This has good and bad points, of course, like anything else.  The bad thing is that Japan’s forces in Asia suck at the beginning, so losing that transport east of Japan hurts (Russia could grab Manchuria).  Also, the dice could hose the Japs, then the Allies could really mess with Japan’s navy (pretty improbable, but possible).  You might lose Manchuria to Burytia, and you probably won’t have an escort fleet for your Jap transport build (you can get around this).  The good thing is that Japan usually takes a while to build up in Asia anyways.

      @Romulus:

      IC in India may fall in Japanese hands if it is not backed up by an Allied Pacific strategy, at least an SJF. If UK place IC in India and goes after Germany it will have less IPCs to spend in UK, this means less quantity and less quality in the UK forces that face Germany.

      The same reasoning applies to German CV. Building German CV means less ground units to press on Russia.

      I think the better move to avoid India IC is to build all ground units with Germany and increase the pressure on Russia. If UK builds the IC in India then Russia will receive less help from the British.

      I see your point…
      I’m not sure that some of my F2F opponents are smart enough to realize that!!    :lol: :lol:

      Yes, it is possible to take DC with Japan if you pull Operation Canadian Shield or a variant thereof (like if only Japan invades and Germany does not, or something.)

      Yes, it takes a while to do.

      Yes, it can be done faster than I did it against a44bigdog (I just did not want to invest in the bombers to SBR DC every round.)

      Yes, Russia will most likely still fall before DC (because Russian territories are mostly worthless, Russia’s besieged by two nations simultaneously on two flanks and England’s being chewed alive and cannot support as readily where as America has a few high value territories allowing them to build at least 6 infantry a round even if everything else is gone (C. USA and E. USA))

      That said, I still feel that the invasion of Hollywood is more a distraction to keep America out of the war than an effort to capture America.

      After you’ve accomplished your primary objective of getting Moscow and the secondary objective of securing Berlin, then you can develop the shield to take out DC, assuming you have not been kicked off the North American continent at that point.

      In my humble opinion.

      Don’t worry about the Americans. If they split up their IPC’s between Japan and Germany, the Allies will end up loosing the fight. The Brits, if aggressive, can normaly only attack one of both Axispowers. Even if they sink your tranny and your sub, there’s nothing to be affraid of. You can destroy a lot with few efforts when the UK-fleet strikes at the Japanese in turn one, using your fighters.
      The only problem is that if and when the UK strikes at the Japanese in UK1, you can probably expect a KJF. Then it’s up to the Germans to Panzer their way to Moscow.
      If UK strikes the Japs on UK1, but then divert their offensive actions towards Germany, you shouldn’t have any trouble wiping them out of the Pacific and start nibbling on their income. Especially if USA splits its income between Germany and Japan.
      Anyway, that’s what I’ve experienced in the games that I’ve played. An Allied player who tries to assault both Germany and Japans digs his own grave…

      A typical situation for this would be Japan trying to bombard the west coast, you have to bring the troops via trn, but you dont want to send more than one inf a turn, assuming you want to do this for multiple turns, you have to load the trn (e.g. with troops from hawai) in the NCM of the turn before you start your attack…
