    • Airforce OP?

This is a general question, not specific to 1940 but for all of axis and allies. What are the rules when a fighter plane goes into combat with ground  units?

In my hypothetical lets say there is one inf in Normandy and a fighter in Belgium/Netherlands. I know the plane cannot take the territory without ground units but could the ftr go and attack the inf and kill it without retaliation? Or can the inf throw a rock at the plane and take it down?

Basically can ground units take out air units on the combat strip if they roll the appropriate number to score a  hit?

My group of friends has a special rule where a plane can do two “swoops”, attack twice on the ground  units but then cannot participate in any other combat until the next round, then ground units would have at it? this makes the aircraft (in my mind) Over Powered to ground units, but not other air or sea (with the sub having its rules as well).

    • RE: Operation Barbarossa Prevention 2nd Edition

It was suggested that I just buy inf all the time, but where do I deploy them? Do I just have them hold up in their respective cities and wait for the onslaught to come? If he can take and reach Stalingrad by G4 before, if I were stack inf than would the probability be in my favor (I say probability because everyone gets bad dice)?

    • Operation Barbarossa Prevention 2nd Edition

In the last game I played with my friends Germany gained a lot of IPC points from taking neutral territories and most of France. On G2 he then invades Russia, gains more IPCs and by G3 or G4 he took Stalingrad. He seemed to focused on the southern root to Moscow because Leningrad held firm and is well defended (depending on the buys).

Speaking of purchases, what would be the best to prevent or slow the German Rush? Mechs can reach the front faster (we allow them to blitz without a tank, a personal rule), Art can give the bonus and inf can take the hits when stacked. What should be my purchases for R1 and R2 and where should I concentrate them?

    • Italy move 1 help 2nd Edition

I have the 2nd edition of Europe 1940 and have not yet played it. I am considering being the axis when I do play and have a general idea of what to do with Germany but no clue what to do with Italy.

Please respond as in depth as you can from purchases, to combat moves and placements. Thanks!

    • RE: G1 Italy move?

So it would be a joint attack? What about the DD in SZ 15? Should I kill it with my BB or use a FTR to destroy that before I move my transport? And if it were taken out I would not only have to attack from the TRN but also from Libya? If Egypt is taken do all the units go into the territory or can I choose which ones go into Egypt?

    • My J2 move mistakes

I don’t know the exact SZs but usually I destroy the US pacific fleet during J1 and purchase 2 trns and a factory in SouthEast Asia (I think it’s called Siam, again forgive me for not saying the exact location). My problem is after that I don’t know what to do. The US will begin to build steam, I don’t use the Indian fleet for fear of mutual destruction with the Brits and I don’t know whether to focus my strength on India or China/Sikang or both.

      Thoughts and advice?

    • My G1 move mistakes

I tried to follow a strat that someone posted (sorry I can’t remember their name but they made page on strategy basics somewhere on the mainsite) and failed. What happens is I lose West Russia but the strategy says not to take it on G1. So what usually happens is a gridlock in the East and I have to wait for Japan to make a push (which I will post a seperate thread later on advice for Japan).

Anyway there is a gridlock with Russia, I get kicked out of Africa and US/UK usually takes Norway or West Europe. Thoughts or advice?

    • G1 Italy move?

In a previous post, I asked what to do in regards of a G1 in Egypt. A suggestion was to take a tank  and inf from Italy on a transport, and put them in Libya to attack Egypt with the onther inf and tank already in Egypt and a bomber and ftr.

My question is how do I put them on the transport? Shouldn’t I load up the tank and inf during my non-combat phase and have to wait till G2 to do an amphibus assault on Egypt? Could I place them in Libya on my noncombat move of G2 and have to wait till G3? Isn’t the only move I can do with a loaded transport during a combat phase is an amphibous assault? I don’t see two seperate attacks on Egypt with only 2 units each plus air support going well.

Can someone tell me how to properly load, move and deploy a transport please? Thank you.

    • RE: G1 Africa move and Baltic Fleet?

Usually my friends take WRus and just reinforce the line that is Karliea, WRus and Ukraine. I usually take Karelia with East Europe but I will consider using Norway.

Do I not Attack Egypt on G1? Or soften them up with the bomber and fighter?

    • G1 Africa move and Baltic Fleet?

Hi, this is my first forum post on here so please forgive noob mistakes! Any way I have played about 3 or 4 games of Axis and Allies: Spring 1942 1st Edition and each time I have been either Germany or all the Axis. Each game I mess up usually in the north and south by not deploying my baltic fleet to lock the north Atlantic and do next to nothing in North Africa too.

I am asking for advice for when and where to deploy my Baltic Fleet in SZ5. Do I send the subs and keep the DD as a protector for my transport? Which seazone should I put the subs? I usually build land on G1 so should I buy a sub or 2 on G2?

Also what should I do about the Mediterrainian? Should I use fighters, the sub in SZ 8 and the BB in SZ14 to knock out the British Med Fleet, and then place land units in Libya? When and what should I attack Egypt with?

I hope I was clear enough if not please ask for more clarity and I will try to help. And I hope I will be able to recieve some help soon. Thanks!
