      Adlertag,  I’ll try your Red October and/or the Persian Plunge.  When I win I’ll tell them it was your idea.  If I could, I would give you karma.  Isn’t it the thought that counts?

      @Adlertag:

      must be something f¤#k1#% wrong with my PC, or this message board, since it freeze before I am finished typing. Butt OK, back to topic. As I said, always play aggressivly. Always attack if able. That is the only way to win. This is what I teach my students. You dont win if you are a laid-back retard. Dont mind the dice, this game is not about luck. Its like a fist-fight on your local pub. The aggressive guy always win, and the nice guy get knocked out because he dont punch back. This lesson dont come for free, so you better applaud me 3 times a day this week. My goal is to reach 800 + karmas.

      I thought that is what you meant?  US buys the fighter and flies it to China?

      Maybe I misunderstood?

      @Butcher:

      @rockrobinoff:

      i like the flying tiger idea. how about instead of paying directly for it, the USA has to actually fly a plane and land it china?

      Why didn’t I think of that?

      @Butcher:

      I think it makes sense. The U.S. can provide support to China, but they have to actually get the fig there.

      Maybe both options could be included. Pay 15 to have it placed with China’s new infantry, or pay 10 and have to move it there. Limit one Flying Tiger at a time.

      I thought China could only purchase infantry and artillery?  If it can buy anything I would buy tanks.

      @idk_iam_swiss:

      theres also mechanized infantry too… China also has the flying tiger. in my games in invariable gets used defensively. Although two infantry and one artillery is a really good buy. This is china so youre bound to be stuffed to the rafters with infantry though…

      True but for that extra ipc, you get 5 attack and 6 defense compared to 3 attack and 6 defense but I understand what you mean, if it takes more than 2 turns for the enemy to get to you, I would buy infantry as cannon fodder, and buy artillery later to counter attack.

      @Brain:

      It depends upon how much enemy force you anticipate coming at you. If it is a lot and it is going to come in endless waves then you would buy 3 infantry and save the extra ipc for future rounds. If it looks like a counter-offensive may be in order, then buy artillery. It really depends on the situation.

      I know what you mean.  AA gun rolls are my favorite!

      @maverick_76:

      Personally I don’t know how much time that could save, maybe like a half hour overall. I think I would just roll myself, I don’t trust those online rollers anyway. I like to feel like my mojo got me the critical hit to win the battle, you know what I mean?

      What about 2 infantry and 1 artillery for 10?  Same defense as 3 infantry but more firepower for attack?

      I had forgotten about that.  We usually play until one side concedes.  We’ll have to remember this next time we play.

    • RE: Convoy boxes

      How does that translate to paying the bank?

      Does that mean if UK loses a convoy worth 3 ipc to Germany. UK immediately loses 3 ipc immediately to be paid to the bank and Germany collects 3 ipc at the collect income phase?

      I am not clear on this part.

      @Brain:

      A convoy zone has value like a territory except that it is in the sea. Whoever controls it gets the IPC value shown on the mapboard which is supposed to represent the value that would be gained by goods being transported through those sea zones to the country that controls it.

    • RE: Convoy boxes

      Who is the IPC paid to?  Bank or the enemy?

      @Krieghund:

      They’re actually “convoy zones”.  They’re special sea zones with a convoy marker that allow you to make shipping raids against the enemy with your warships.  This is similar in concept to an SBR, except the IPCs are paid immediately.

      Red October and Persian Plunge sounds very interesting.

      Aldertag what is th Germany/Italy/Japan counter/response to your moves?

      Also is it viable for both settings 1941 and 1942?

      Never thought about that.  If there are no Chinese territory, no US-Chinese lend and lease.  No Flying Tiger.

      @Funcioneta:

      If Japan kills China J1, as they should, USA’s figs will not arrive there at time to even land in China. And India will be soon another japanese puppet

      China needs a total change of rules and setup if we want this game working

      Same here!  Modern games require too much coordination.

      I’m a button-masher, the good old arcade shooting games were great.

      It’s the land battleship!!!  :-D

      @Brain:

      @cannon:

      Agreed, great idea!

      So this unit can be purchased and placed on any territory?

      I can see many uses for it, mainly cannon fodder!

      @Adlertag:

      here we go, one + karma to you zooooma for your blockhouse idea.

      Blockhouse: cost 1 IPC, move 0, def 0, att 0

      This Blockhouse represent force protection. You spend 1 IPC in concrete just to protect your men and weapons. I totally love it.

      Terrible idea, for $6 you get an infantry that takes 4 hits to kill.

      Sort of like a Chinese-US lend & lease?  I like that idea.  It  would take some time but at least the Flying Tiger can be replaced.

      @Butcher:

      Yeah, there is a limit of one, sorry if that wasn’t clear. Either that, or if the U.S. can fly a fighter into a Chinese controlled territory, it comes under Chinese control when they place their units. Again, there is a limit of one Flying Tiger.

      Or to keep it alive at the start, the Flying Tiger could start in Sikang.

    • RE: A Bid For Allies

      Would there be a limit as to one Flying Tiger at one time?

      @Butcher:

      What if we let America rebuild the Flying Tigers for an increased cost, and they would be deployed when China places their infantry? Somewhere in the 12-15 IPC range seems about right. That would certainly give China a chance to hold off the Japanese.

    • RE: A Bid For Allies

      I thought it was 1 Chinese infantry for every 2 territory not 3?

      @Corbeau:

      For China, I think it’s mostly it’s rules rather than number of initial units that makes them so bad. ( Except that fighter who should get to place where you want )

      • Remove the unit limit reinforcement per territory if there is already units in it.
      • Divide by 2 and not 3 for the number of reinforcement infantry.
      • Place fighter where you want or at least not in range for Japan turn 1.

    • RE: What if I dont want to do it larrys way?

      Thank you for the information.  Six turns…  The map must be huge!

      @WILD:

      @maverick_76:

      If you think of it this way, Germany took territory that basically was double the size of Germany. And they were still about 100 Km from Moscow when the winter hit. Depending on how many territories Larry wants to put in between, I would say 3-6 territories in a straight shot from Berlin to Moscow. The distance is about 900 miles, so 3-6 seems like a good number, and allows Germany to be at Russia’s capital within 2 to 3 turns.

      quote from Larry:
      Aaah…ok Emperor_Taiki… there are 6 territories between Berlin and Stalingrad. Could not help myself… I just had to tell you.
      I would think it would also be 6 tt between Berlin and Moscow. So it could take up to 6 rounds to get there. Germany will most likely start with some forces already in between however (Poland etc). Italy should also be able to can opener a few countries allowing Germany to blitz with its tanks/mech inf. So it could be like the 4th round or so for a full assault on Moscow.

      I meant to ask, will the map join together nicely without any disjointed territories or sea zones.

      Is it going to be like a puzzle with perfect fit?
